Jais
Update Feb 2020: This file is old, so the information is from one year ago. He is verbal. He attends speech therapy. He has some difficulty pronouncing some words. His speech is delayed according to his age. A year ago he was using diapers, but he was telling when he had to get it changed because he felt discomfort. He is very affectionate, very loving, and respectful with adults. He follows norms and rules. He was sometimes pulling the hair of peers at school. The neurologist states he is a child that has progressed a lot since he has been receiving therapies and recommended that he not stop them.
Agency staff met Jais in July 2022: Jais is a cute little guy who is described as calm and loving towards those around him. He expresses his desires easily. Jais is currently attending school and is in the second grade. It has been a process for him to adjust to being with other children. Jais likes music and he dances to the rhythm. He likes to be cuddled and touched, especially by his foster parents. In addition to having Down syndrome, Jais likely also has Autism. Due to his potential autism diagnosis, Jais has a hard time with transitions, changes, and strangers. He loves cars, especially being inside one! His foster parents take him for vacations, and he enjoys going to the beach. He loves being in the car so much, that he doesn’t even mind if he’s in there for hours…so road trips are a go! Jais can say the words, “mom,” “dad,” “water,” “ayyaya” and “hey.” Jais sleeps through the night, but has a special position that he feels most comfortable in. He likes to first fall asleep with his foster mother in her bed and then be taken to his bed. Jais wakes up at 5:30 a.m. and cuddles with his foster parents for a little bit. Jais is a good eater, but oatmeal doesn’t make his stomach feel well. Jais has been living with his current foster family since he was two months old. Jais started walking at four years old and his foster mother is now trying to teach him how to ride a bike. He is now able to chew and swallow.

Malcolm can speak “Papa,” “Mama,” “Ayi (aunt)” and other single words, such as “yao (want)” and “wan (play)” etc., but he cannot speak a complete sentence yet. Malcolm is a cute and obedient boy. He is sociable and courteous. He gets along well with his family, teachers, and classmates. He will wave his hands and say hello, but he will not follow strangers. He likes when his parents and brothers take him outside for fun. Malcolm is not picky about food, and meat is his favorite. Parker John
To accept this child’s grant, a family would also need to agree to share their contact information with RODS Racing.

Wanted: family who loves to laugh, play together, and has room for one more! Parker is looking for you! This handsome guy is 4 years old, and waiting. Parker has Down syndrome with the typical delays. He is very outgoing, loves to play, loves musical toys, and is very sweet. He had surgery in 2014 for a heart issue (PDA) and recovered well. His file states he has an ectopic kidney on the right side. This means the kidney sits in an abnormal position. In most cases, this causes no issues at all, but there is a chance it can lead to later kidney stones or infection. He has had no issues with this to date. Parker needs a family who will love him, and be by his side as he grows and learns.
Dino
To accept this child’s grant, a family would also need to agree to share their contact information with RODS Racing.

Dino enjoys cuddling and sometimes acts spoiled, but is obedient and gets along well with the other children. He is an active and restless little toddler, with a big smile and long eyelashes. He likes to sit in his stroller out in the sunshine, and will lift up his legs to peel off his socks! Dino has Down syndrome and has been diagnosed with a congenital heart defect (PDA), but has not received any surgery for it.

He likes swinging with the children and building blocks with the other children during group class. He can tear paper and use his pincer fingers to grab things. His language was not clear, but he will laugh and try to imitate sounds. He recognizes familiar people and understands adult facial expressions. He is a lively baby. After getting acquainted with others, he will often show a cute smile and two cute little dimples. At this time he has not needed to undergo any heart surgery, as his heart is doing fine.
Conner

He can put his little sister’s diaper, sweater, shoes, socks and coat near his foster mother’s side in sequence and throw her used diaper into the trash can. He can call “dad, dad, mom, mom.” Conner likes watching cartoons and listening to and dancing to children’s songs. He can choose his favorite picture book and ‘read.’ Conner also enjoys painting, playing with play dough, and stringing the toy blocks. He likes playing outdoors with other children too. There, he will help pick fruit, look for flowers, and dig in the dirt. He is said to be happy every day! We know Conner’s going to make a great son! Could your family be the one Conner will call his forever family?
Guy
To accept this child’s grant, a family would also need to agree to share their contact information with RODS Racing.

Guy attends kindergarten lessons 3 days per week, and is making great progress in his learning, play, and self-care skills. Guy is very proud that he is now able to independently feed himself with a spoon! His carers report that he is a great little helper, often helping with tidying up after mealtimes or putting toys away when playtime is finished. Guy is a social boy, who actively tries to communicate through a mixture of gestures and a few simple words. Those around him describe him as a child who knows what he wants, and that he will persist in making himself understood despite his lack of speech. Guy is able to follow basic instructions and engages well with his structured daily routine. We are hoping that his forever family sees him soon!
