Benson

Meet Benson! He’s a curious, affectionate little boy. Benson is easygoing and quick to warm up. With new people, he needs very little time to open up, and he answers with eye contact, a social smile, babbling, and a lot of expression. When something delights him, he smiles, gurgles, claps, and shouts for joy. He loves rattles, going outside for walks, being carried, cuddled, tickled, and doted on. He explores the world through objects and enjoys simple cause-and-effect play. He has a good appetite and is happy to eat nearly anything, as long as it soft textured. What he doesn’t love is having his nose and ears cleaned, getting his naps off schedule, and food textures he isn’t ready for. He lets you know about those by turning his face away. Therapy sessions can bother him, though he settles quickly with a patient adult. He has formed a secure, loving attachment to his foster mother. He looks to her for comfort. Benson also feels close to his foster grandmother. He attends church with his foster family twice a week. He thrives on routine, warmth, and responsive caregivers. His team recommends that a family for him should be patient and ready to support his needs while keeping his culture a part of his life.
