Milo is a very playful, inquisitive, affectionate and friendly boy. He really enjoys trying new things, playing with his favorite toys, singing and dancing to music. He gets on very well with other kids and is described by the caregivers as being a very cheerful, helpful and caring child. He specifically loves dancing to his favorite songs and watching YouTube videos.

Milo has a moderate intellectual disability and developmental delays, which affect his speech, fine motor skills, and daily self-care. He speaks Cantonese and understands everyday conversations and instructions, though his pronunciation is sometimes unclear. At school, he receives speech and occupational therapy to help him improve his communication, coordination, and independence. He goes to a special school, enjoys learning, and has made progress with classroom routines and personal hygiene.

Milo is a sweet and determined child who continues to grow and develop while managing his medical needs. He has 10q26 deletion syndrome and has previously undergone treatment for craniosynostosis. Milo also lives with multiple food and environmental allergies including eggs, peanuts, shellfish, and various nuts which means he and his caregivers must be vigilant about avoiding triggers and always have an adrenaline autoinjector on hand. In addition, Milo manages eczema with prescribed creams and takes medication for constipation. Despite these health concerns, Milo’s overall health is stable, and he continues to grow and thrive. He would greatly benefit from a patient and nurturing family, one that can support his developmental journey, carefully manage his allergies, and encourage his growing independence.

Interested families must have a completed home study, although it may be for any international country. If selected as Milo’s family, you must be prepared to update your home study promptly for his specific Asian country.
