NIGEL for the Turley family — AZ
Reagan and Adam met in 2003 when they were co-workers at a popular electronics store known for its yellow box. A friendship grew into a relationship, and three years later they were married. Since then, they have been blessed with two biological children, Tessa(3) and Nate (1). When Reagan was pregnant with Nate, she was told that her little one growing inside her might have Down’s Syndrome along with some kidney issues. This did not change their heart, for they knew no matter what, this little guy was special. Nate was born with some kidney issues, but is otherwise healthy.
Reagan has always had a heart for people with special needs. This passion prompted her to become a Special Education Teacher. Though her class of special needs high-school students brings her so much joy, there has always been a part of her that knew that her family needed a member with an extra chromosome. The Turleys came across Reece’s Rainbow in January of 2011. The timing wasn’t quite right then for their family, so they committed to praying and supporting some of the faces they came across…all along praying for a possible brother or sister to come along and take their breath away when the time was right. In the spring of 2012, Reagan came across a precious child that did just that. She inquired about the child, but the child had already been spoken for. The Turleys knew God had a special little one in mind for them, so they waited some more. A short while later the little girl was re-listed. As soon as she was, Reagan’s heart began to feel a tugging. They took a leap of faith and inquired about her again. This time, God opened the door! They committed, and began their journey. Soon after, they were faced with an enormous road block. The little girl they were committing to was in Russia. Two weeks following their commitment, American adoptions to Russia were banned. The Turleys were heartbroken. Quietly they waited some more. After two months of waiting, it was made clear that this door was closed for now.
They are trusting that God’s timing is perfect in all things. The Turleys continue to feel like God is calling them to their daughter in Russia; it just might take more time than they had originally planned. They will continue to love, pray and wait for the little “Ruski” that has captured their hearts, no matter how long it takes. But until then, God is opening a window for their family. They had originally set out to make one less orphan in the world. Now they are feeling that God is calling them to bring home a brother as well to be a part of “Team Turley”. God has lead them to sweet Nigel and they cannot wait to scoop him up into their family. He will be loved and cherished for the “gem” that he is. The Turley family is excited to embark on this great adventure and invite you to join them as they prepare to bring their son (and one day their daughter) home.
“God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”
