CHARLOTTE for the Keller family — IL

Natalie Keller comes from a family of 6 children – 3 of which are adopted. Two of these three children have pretty significant disabilities. Adoption and children with special needs have always been a part of her life. She has always known that, at some point, she would adopt. For years, she has said that she wouldn’t be upset if God decided to “bless” her with a child with Down Syndrome.

She has been living in the Chicago area since she finished college. During that time, she has been teaching special education at a Christian school. She’s also spent a significant amount of time in Mexico working with special needs children and learning the Spanish language. Since she returned from a 9 month stay in Mexico in 2009, she has been toying with the idea of adopting a child with Down Syndrome.

When she started this process, she had some pretty stringent criteria for what she was looking for. She knew that when a child met these criteria, she would know they were the one that God had for me. Just when she decided to start seriously pursuing adoption through Reece’s Rainbow, Charlotte was posted. She immediately fell in love with her picture and could see her being a part of her family. Since this process has started, she has seen God answer lots of prayers and solve lots of problems. She has no doubt this is what she is supposed to be doing with her life right now.
