TEDDY, VAL & STEWARD for the Archer family — MN
Tom and Elizabeth have been married 35 years. They have adopted 13 children ages 3-35 years old now. Two of their adopted children (7 & 8 ) are their birth-bio granddaughters adopted at their births. They have 4 birth children ages 7, 30, 32 and 35. They have a heart for children and adults with special needs and adoption. They also run a 4 bed group home for adults with disabilities in their home for the last 24 years. They are active with advocating for adoption and people with special needs in their community. In 2009 they had their US homestudy done. They had been applying for many referals of children in the US only to be told that they were too old, had too many at home (7) and shouldn’t homeschool children with special needs. They were crushed. Especially since God had blessed them with their birth son Isaiah (now 7) when Elizabeth was 47 and Tom was 50. Apparently God doesn’t think they are too old. Elizabeth looked at the RR website on occasion to pray for the children but they really did not want to do an International adoption. They were also tired of rejection, seeing the age requirements of many countries. And then they saw Bulgaria!!! After much prayer God pointed out to them that they were like Jonah not wanting to go to Ninevah!! Elizabeth joined the RR Yahoo group. Soon though Elizabeth was getting discouraged again trying to find children under age 6 at the same orphanage in Bulgaria. When out of the blue someone posted that Emmett and Eric were in the same orphanage in Bulgaria still waiting. That was like a message from God!
After bringing home Emmett and Eric, the Tom and Elizabeth began working on bringing home Teddy, Val & Steward to complete their family!!
