Elio is a child who has had improvements in all areas of development. Health-wise, Elio has shown improvements, as he has not had any new infections. He has been doing well since receiving proper care, and he is responding well to treatment. He is communicating better at a non-verbal level. Elio has made significant progress with his motor development.

Update 1/2026

Anastasia is a calm, emotionally responsive 1-year-old child . She enjoys interaction with adults, tolerates touch well, and shows good eye contact. She often initiates contact by vocalizing, smiling, and reaching out to be held. She recognizes familiar people and responds positively to attention.

She is relatively active and moves both her arms and legs. She can hold her head in the midline while lying on her back and supports herself symmetrically on her elbows. She is not yet rolling over or sitting independently. Her fine motor skills include a present grasp reflex, good hand-to-hand and hand-to-mouth coordination, and the ability to purposefully grasp and hold a toy. When placed on her stomach, she extends her arms.

Anastasia has a diagnosis of polyformative syndrome with genetically confirmed Bardet-Biedl syndrome type 12. She was born from a first complicated pregnancy with prenatal tumor formation. Her birth weight was 3,200 g, and her current weight is 8,510 g. She has a good appetite and is fed by an adult, accepting food from a pacifier.

Mariah enjoys activities such as drawing, coloring, and painting. Her favorite activity is to make cards for her caretakers. At the time of her referral, she was learning to write. Mariah is a social, affectionate, and talkative girl who loves playing with her friends. They like to play dolls, hair, and play with dresses. Mariah likes stuffed animals, dolls, mermaids, unicorns, and dinosaurs. Her favorite colors are pink and green. She likes animals, especially chickens, dogs, cats, horses, cockroaches, and mice. She likes clothes, such as dresses and cute shoes. She loves running, dancing, drawing, swimming, acting, and watching SpongeBob. Mariah loves princesses, especially Ana and Elsa from Frozen. She is afraid of snakes, thunder, and darkness. When she grows up, Mariah would like to be a cook. We hope a loving family will see Mariah and all her potential. Introducing Kellet! Kellet is a medically healthy 6-year-old boy who is active and very curious about new people and environments. He likes playing with younger children and is able to interact and share toys with peers. Kellet likes adventures and challenges and takes initiative to play with others. He has age-appropriate gross and fine motor skills; he can pour water without spilling, draw meaningful pictures, run and climb stairs without rails for support, throw and catch a ball, and much more! He also has good verbal expressions and age-appropriate language development. He can count from 1 to over 100! Kellet can also engage in back-and-forth conversation and tell a story by looking at pictures. He sleeps deeply at night and eats the same food as adults for three meals a day. We hear that Kellet has good focus at school and can follow class progress and teachers’ instructions.

Update May 2022:

Kellet was seen as a part of virtual SuperKids in February 2022.  Kellet recently turned 7!  Kellet is in first grade and his favorite subject is Math!  He is doing well in school and enjoys his friend group.  His social worker shares that she is impressed by his patience and involvement with activities during their time together.

Kellet shows his imagination through art and storytelling as he recently drew a picture for his best friend, who is a mermaid and lives in the sea!  Kellet expressed a desire to also be a mermaid, so he can be with her all the time!  How sweet is that?!  Kellet enjoys imaginary play through dress up with peers and enjoys playing with Legos.  Kellet is enthusiastic about life, playing games, and has a high level of attentiveness.  He lives in an area where he is able to hike and run in the outdoors- activities that he appears to enjoy!

Kellet has foster siblings.  When they are available, Kellet enjoys spending time with them.
