From a family who met him Nov 2018: Shaw is a very loving boy who desperately wants a family. He hugged us repeatedly asking, “Mama, America? Papa, America?”

He speaks well, enjoys painting, and can walk with some need for support. He sweetly pushes his friend’s wheelchair and it offers stability for him and assistance for his friend. He’s been raised amongst boys much older than him and has picked up swear words but truly is a beautiful soul. He became jealous of our attention when we were talking with his younger roommate and he bit him. The facilitator would like us to note that he has a family history of mental illness and that his family should consider this in their decision. We are head over heals for this boy and honestly would have brought him home without hesitation were we approved for another adoption. Every adoptive family would be wise to consider trauma-informed parenting and to anticipate both aggression and mental illness. Please, consider whether you could be Shaw’s mama and papa.

He is so sweet, but can be a kind of “difficult” – strong-willing and stubborn. He is a smart boy. He wants to be adopted and asks to find a family for him. At the same time he will choose if he likes a family. I would recommend him to a family with older children – older than him, to show a way to behave. He may be very helpful and careful. I often can see him helping other kids with worse disabilities as he has. But he can lose his temper fast. He has mental delays. His biological mother is qualified as mentally disabled due to her schizophrenia.

He has 3 or 4 siblings that must be adopted with him! Sisters: D (born 2009), A (2007), brother Y (2006) (and one younger brother, whose status is unknown)

From a family that met him 12/15: Joey is a tiny, smiley little guy who loves attention and hugs! He was so happy to sit on my lap for a hug, to show me the little stuffed animal and toys he was holding and to have his picture taken! He is verbal and said things like, “Cheese!” when having his picture taken, and “Can I see?” to see the photo stored in the camera. He will make a sweet addition to any family and he will simply thrive with the love of a Mama and Papa poured into him!

The dynamic duo – here come Rowan and Reisen. Their smile can light up a room and they are certain to win you over with their little boy charm. Both love cars and chocolate. Rowan has been hosted before last summer; Reisen just recently arrived at the orphanage. Both boys have some developmental delays, but are teacher’s favorites. Rowan has grown leaps and bounds since he was last hosted in the US, in every way possible.

Rowan: Loves cars, Happy & Playful, Speech delays; Reisen: Outoging lil bro, Artistic explorer, Friendly

From Dec 2016:
They appeared to be very hyper, having serious behavioral issues and mental delays. They changed families during hosting program because first hosting family couldn’t handle them.

Their sister can be adopted separately from them but adoptive family needs to have approval for three children in order for us to be able to separate them. She lives in a different orphanage from them.

From a family that met him: We spent about a week with this sweet boy when we were adopting our son in June 2015. He is so desperate for love. He called me momma and begged my daughter and me to hold him. We loved on him as much as possible and he soaked it up. He picked up English words very quickly, and remembered day after day that I had hand sanitizer in my purse and asked for it by saying, “soap!” He loved to play ball with my kids, and the nannies would let him push the baby carriage around during walks. He has the most infectious giggle I’ve ever heard. He walks well, but the nanny indicated that he has issues with his knees. It didn’t stop him, though!

He needs a good, patient, and loving family to give him what he needs. He is so skinny and needs good nutrition. He has very minor orphanage behaviors, but from the progress he made just being with us for a few days, I know he will flourish in a caring family. He will be transferred to a horrible place (the director of the orphanage told me it is horrible), likely very soon, since he’s almost 4.

This region is beautiful and very cost efficient. The orphanage director is lovely. The facilitators are amazing, and the judge is hilarious and wonderful! You will be able to stay in a hotel and walk to the orphanage and enjoy the beauty and culture of a wonderful town.

LOTS of videos available!

He had surgery. He is developing well. Smart boy. Needs out asap.

From a family that met him 11/15:
“Mathis” (he will be 3 years old in winter) also has delayed speech and mental delay. He did not use any words while we were there. He cannot sit, crawl, stand, or walk. We did not see him move about the floor, he needed to be held. This is frustrating for him. We did not observe him using his hands. I tried to place toys in his hands a he did not grab them. He did not laugh or smile.

Victor is an incredibly helpful and thoughtful 10 year old boy. Victor is living in an orphanage. This sweet boy is so sensitive to the needs and feelings of others. One of his favorite activities is playing on the slide, but if he sees a younger child at the orphanage waiting to go down the slide he will make sure that they get to go first.

Victor spent a short time living in a program home for children who are blind. He made great progress at this home. During this time, his caregivers reported that every day after school, Victor would help his teachers tidy up the classroom without being asked, then would sing the younger children to sleep with the songs he learned in school that day.

The agency is urgently seeking a family that is experienced in parenting children with trauma from hard places, and who can provide Victor with unconditional nurturing care so that he can heal and thrive as a cherished son.

Victor’s current agency is offering a $3000 reduction in fees.

Keegan is a handsome, and active boy who is 5 years old. He came into care when he was 2 years old, unable to walk or talk. He soon began walking, but his speech was limited to “yiyi yaya”. By the time he turned 4 years old, he was talking, but adults were not able to understand what he said. Keegan has strabismus (crossed eyes), and has difficulty seeing things up close. He needs an eye exam, and possibly glasses to correct the strabismus and any vision issue. A CT scan showed possible mild hydrocephalus, which has not required any treatment at this time. Keegan is very friendly, active, and an easy going little boy. He gets along well with other kids and really loves to play outside! Keegan needs a family, correction for his vision issue, and help with his speech. Oh…he would also probably like a bike and a swing set!

Daryl came into care as a newborn with a broken leg.

Update: Lively, cheerful, loves playing with other kids and expresses his needs clearly. This boy likes to play ball and with toy cars. He attends school, can speak in full sentences, identifies colors, numbers and can dress and undress himself. He is with a foster family and gets along well with others.

Dec 2013 report indicates that his cognitive and speech development are the same as his peers. He has limitations with his right leg and has an abnormal hip joint. We have video of him walking down stairs, walking to the playground, swinging, and playing on a toy car. His report indicates there are no other medical concerns. In the dancing show held by the institute on June 1st which was Children’s day, Daryl’s dance together with his rich facial expressions, harmonious hand movements and excellent shows, won warm applause of audiences time and again. Everybody couldn’t help being filled with deep esteem to this five-year-old little kid who is disabled in body but firm in spirit. He is a little “Man” full of responsibility and justice. When bringing younger brothers and sisters playing outside every time, he will undertake the duty of their “protector”, and never allow others bully his younger brothers and sisters. If other children have conflict in the kindergarten, Daryl will always stand out and take charge of justice, and resolve disputes for them. Both his teammates and his teachers praise him for his good behavior. He understands his foster parents’ hard working and always feels grateful to his parents. When his mother is sick, he will always take care of her and get her water. Every day when his father goes back home after work, he always takes slippers for him, gets him water, and pats on his back. He always says that he should study hard, and should be filial to his parents after grown up. Daryl not only studies well, but also very talented. He likes singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments. When dancing, because of the limitation of his physical condition, he can’t jump as other little kids, but he never admits defeat, and waves his hands with music, striving to make the best movement.

Kristopher finally available again!! Kristopher is a handsome young man with blonde hair and brown eyes. He is very active and is said to be always happy, but he is quite delayed. Kristopher has significant vision issues, which may or may not be correctable. He shows many facial and medical features of FAS.

From a family who met him in early 2014: Kristopher is such a sweet boy, and I think he would have so much potential in a loving home! He is very small for his age; he was 6, but looked like about 4 years old. He was definitely more mentally delayed than the other boys in his group, but he could answer questions appropriately, followed directions, could eat by himself and get dressed to go outside with little help. One time we played a game like ring-around-the-rosy, and he knew the words to the song and how to play along. He loved when my husband lifted him up high in the air. His eyesight is poor, and they said he is blind in one eye. He had trouble doing a puzzle, but we weren’t sure if it was a cognitive issue, or because he couldn’t see the pieces well. They told us he has some sort of heart condition, which might require surgery. We did see him showing rocking behavior at times. He got along well with the other kids, although he often played by himself, probably because of cognitive differences. He is so precious and really needs a family!

From a family who met him in October 2012: Kristopher is a super-sweet boy who is 5 but looks 2 and is happy ALL the time. He needs to live near a large medical facility, have heart surgery (unless it’s too late), and probably needs a small family that can commit to pretty full care for him. He is darling!

So he got good social experience and made good progress in his communication skills. He has a good potential. If he is not chosen for adoption within next year they will place him in a handicapped children and adults orphanage forever where more likely he will be a bedridden person with no chance for normal life.

Update from a family who met him in April 2016: The director was encouraging us to consider (Max) for adoption too and really wants to see him in a family. He was transferred into the institution with our son. He was very small for his age, (maybe the size of an American 3 year old) and very active. He reminded me of a small chipmunk because he kept running around the director’s office and poking his nose into everything!!! He was SO curious! I saw him get cookies off the director’s table and he was able to chew and swallow, without difficulty, though he does tend to overload his mouth. (maybe he is afraid they will take the food away?) He drinks normally from a cup.

He understood speech addressed to him and appropriately made the correct animal sound when asked what the dog, cow, etc says. He also knew placement of his body parts. (Eyes, ears…) I did not observe him speak except for animal sounds but gestured appropriately when he needed his needs met.

He does tend to ignore redirection, but does it with a mischievous gleam in his eye and, due to him responding appropriately to questions, there is no doubt in my mind he understands, just doesn’t want to listen! After all, the director’s large office was a fun, new place to explore!

I saw him swinging in a swing and he seems fine physically. His movement (walking and running) is very good. He is not overly affectionate but tolerates affection well. (Director was lifting him/giving him hugs)

This is a nice institution to adopt from. It is an easy walk from the hotel and the hotel director speaks English and is very welcoming and accommodating to American guests. They will overfeed you! There are many shops, parks, and markets within easy walking distance of the hotel and institution. Unfortunately, at this institution, the disabled adult men are lumped in with the little boys. Max needs out now! He has amazing potential with a family!

What a CUTIE! Presley is a sweet boy with blonde hair and bright blue eyes. He is a very happy and affectionate child. Presley will benefit so greatly from having a loving family! More photos available.

Updated Nov 2013: He is a very sweet child. Seemed to listen to instructions well. Participated in group activities (like dance and singing). Longing for attention, affection, and stimulation. He does not currently have leukemia; but he has mental delays, and his head is very flat.
