Written Update: Colette relies on formula and she cannot swallow food. Our working staff help her with physical therapy every day, aiming at improving her limbs’ muscle strength. In the afternoon, she is taken to the function room, mainly receiving training for her speech and limbs coordination. Colette gets along well with her caretakers and her little friends. She is active and likes crawling around. When she finds something solid, she will climb over it and stand up. When she sees something (such as toys) interesting, she will try to get it by crawling or moving her body with the support of her upper limbs. Now she can crawl or stand up/walk when holding onto something.

Adorable Colletta is quite the giggler! She loves playing with toys and looking at herself in a mirror! Sweet Colletta is described as alert, timid, and quiet. At the time her file was prepared, she was crawling with her elbows alternately and she could sit with support. She often liked to find a special duck toy, which she would put in her mouth to bite. When the duck toy made sound, Colletta would burst into giggles! Colletta receives rehabilitation for language and limb flexibility every morning and afternoon. Although she wasn’t saying words at the time her file was prepared, she was babbling a lot! In addition to having Down syndrome, Colletta has an abdominal scar. A U.S. physician who examined her in April of 2016 wasn’t sure what it was from, but believes it may be from a feeding tube before she was brought to the orphanage. She was also found to have a heart murmur.

During an orphanage visit in April of 2016, Colletta was observed to be a pretty baby girl who was very alert and engaged in her surroundings. While in therapy training, she was very agreeable and went along with the exercises. When sitting up, she looked around a lot and babbled more than any other baby they saw that day. Caregivers said it was typical for her to babble a lot. She could roll over and sit with support. When placed on the mat, she stayed in one place and was very content. Caregivers say she is an easygoing baby. We hope to be able to get an update on Colletta and can’t wait to see who Colletta’s lucky family will be!

There is a $2,500 agency grant for Colletta’s adoption with a specific adoption agency.

Sweet little Charlotte! She does need an update as the information we have now is from when she was 1 year and 3 months old. The orphanage staff say: she can roll over freely; she can hold her chest up for several minutes with hands propping while lying on the stomach; she lies prone when she is tired; she can visually move follow moving toy and can stretch her hands out to reach the toy in the toy shelf. There are happy laughs on her face when there are sounds from the toys; she would catch the caretaker’s attention by crying when she is hungry and stops crying when she sees the feeding bottle; she is able to drink with hands holding the feeding bottle; she becomes quiet when she is full, lies quietly or plays with her hands while lying on the stomach, she looks smart. Celia has Down syndrome, with no known heart issues. She had a small procedure to remove a branchial cleft cyst, which healed without issue, and has left a very small scar. Celia has the typical developmental delays expected with Down syndrome, but is progressing well. She is very social, active, and loves her nannies. Celia loves to play with toys, and is especially fond of music. She is waiting for a family!

Catherine is a sensitive little girl who gazes thoughtfully at people when they talk to her. When her caregiver gently touches her on the head, she will call “mama” and smile. Catherine is diagnosed with Down syndrome, and she also had surgery for a heart defect in February 2016. As of October 2016 she could roll over easily and hold herself up when lying on her stomach. When lying on her back she would grab her feet to roll around and play. Her caregivers play a game of catch with her by tossing a pillow back and forth, and she grins gleefully when they tease her. She started babbling at six months old, and at a year and half she could say “mama.” Her favorite toys are the ones that make music! Catherine needs a caring family to help her grow and develop.

The agency who currently holds Catherine’s file is offering a $4000 grant.

At that time, she could hold her head up and put her hands in front of her eyes to look and play. By one year of age, she could babble, laugh when playing with others, sit with support, roll over, and move toys from one hand to the other. At two, she could sit independently, crawl, and turn the pages of books. She also became very attached to her caregiver. By three, she could stand while holding onto something and put objects into a cup and take them out. Carlie is currently attending a school inside her orphanage. She gets along well with the other children, but is quiet and uses words like aunt and teacher, but not clearly. As of fall, she was not yet potty trained. When Carlie meets new people, she will wave her hands and blow them a kiss- a little charmer! When others are showing her attention, she will smile and approach them on her own. She is a well-behaved little girl.

Camille is an adorable little girl, who is said to be active and smiley. Camille can walk, run, and go up and down stairs. She has a strong imitating ability and likes holding writing utensils to scribble. Camille recognizes her name and understands simple instructions. She occasionally calls “mama.” Camille can build a tower with blocks and she enjoys chasing adults and listening to musical toys. She also likes playing with other children and wants to excel.

Camille’s gross motor skills are basically normal. She can walk, run, and jump independently, but her balance ability lags other kids of her age. Her fine motor skills are generally normal. She can independently complete finger pinching, eating, washing hands, washing face, etc., but her coordination skills are relatively poor. She clearly speaks “Mama, Ayi (aunt), Chifan(eat rice), Nihao(hello), bye-bye, Zuo(sit down).” However, she doesn’t usually speak clearly. Sometimes when she says a word, she will utter “ah ah ah” in a hurry. She understands instructions, such as “throw the rubbish into the garbage can” and “set the table and chairs for lunch/dinner.”

When seeing caretakers standing and feeding other kids, Camille would bring a stool and ask the caretakers to have a seat. She is gentle in character and gets along with other kids peacefully. She has strong imitation ability, such as learning from her caretakers how to fold clothes and quilts. When watching TV, she will imitate dancing. She is extroverted and very enthusiastic towards visitors. She is not picky about food and she has a good sleep at night.

Camille has a $1,000 agency grant for her adoption with her current adoption agency.

She holds her bottle and drinks milk. She can sit up on her own, but she cannot run, jump, or climb up/down stairs. When playing, she occasionally reached out his hand. She was reported to have developmental delays commonly seen with children with Down syndrome, but she has been diligently working to meet milestones. Rae’s caregivers say that she is calm and easy-going. At the time her file was prepared, she loved when her caregivers would give her a massage and when they would hold her and talk to her. When the nanny would tell her stories, she would quietly listen and when the nanny would call on her, she would look at the nanny. Little Rae desperately needs an update and we’re hoping one will come for her soon!

Ruthie is lively, lovely and restless who loves laughing and crawling everywhere. She can grasp the toy trolley and push it forward and also turn to look at nanny from time to time, because she wants to know if she is being watched; if the nanny is looking at her, she will raise her hands very happily and make a bye gesture or push the toy trolley more quickly; sometimes, she would fall down, but as soon as the nanny hugs her and comforts her, she would laugh immediately. She likes listening to music, and she can imitate the actions of clapping hands, shaking head and also will laugh whenever hearing the familiar children’s song. She cannot sit down for a long time, and she likes climbing onto the table top. Every time, when the nanny puts her onto the chair, she would climb onto the table top while the nanny is not looking at her and giggles to express that she has climbed onto and show her great ability.

Azalea does not like to take a bath-she will scream before even getting wet. Her foster parents have to be patient and comfort her until she adjusts to the bath. Azalea’s file was completed when she was 8 months old- at that time she was not able to crawl or stand, but could sit with support. She was using facial expressions and babbling to respond to her foster family talking to her. Azalea responds to her name being called, looks for the source of the sound, and recognizes familiar people and objects. Annie came into care as a baby, and was found to have Down syndrome, as well as a heart condition. She has received surgery for her CHD, but the surgery report is not in her file. Hopefully, we will know more very soon. We do know Annie is a spunky, active little girl who enjoys playing. She has the delays typical of a child with Down syndrome, so she may require some therapy when she comes home. Annie is an expressive, adorable little girl, who is waiting for her very own family.

Her file notes that since the time of her intake, she has continued to progress developmentally, has good motor skills and can point to parts of her body when instructed. Her file describes her as becoming more and more beautiful and adorable each month that goes by. She likes to tease her nannies and if they ask her to stand for a photo, she will sit right before they press the shutter and smile and giggle and do this repeatedly to tease with them. She loves to give hugs to everyone she meets and is not afraid of strangers and has learned to wave goodbye when a guest leaves. She lights up when the nannies praise her and she enjoys playing with toys and her peers, but can also play independently as well. She enjoys toys with colorful and various shapes and gets along with her peers. She is able to respond to her nannies instructions and knows when her name is being called. She understands her teacher’s motions and words and often imitates them. At 24 months, she could crawl to look for toys to play and could independently stand up and stand for a while. She is also able to walk by holding onto the rail or by holding on to a nanny’s hand. She now has a steadier gait and can toddle by herself and is walking more steadily than in the months prior. She will reach out her hands to the nannies as if to ask them to help guide her to walk. She will imitate words and uses some words to express her needs.

Zoe was diagnosed with Down Syndrome and has delayed growth and development. She is in rehabilitation/therapy and cooperates well with her rehabilitation training and with therapists. Her file is extremely detailed with a lot of wonderful developmental information and benchmarks and any family interested in reviewing her file can be connected with individuals who have visited her orphanage. This little one has so much potential if given the right family to grow and thrive in.

Journey is a beautiful little girl with a warm smile! Journey is not a picky eater and can feed herself, but won’t necessarily eat as much as she should so she does get some help to make sure she is eating enough to fill her up. She really likes milk and fruits. Journey can walk stably and can go up and down stairs using the handrail. She is said to be calm and cautious. Sometimes if she thinks the stairs, for example, are dangerous she will sit on the stairs and move down with her hands and feet. Journey’s favorite toys are toy dogs and the red plasma car. Because she doesn’t speak much, Journey has trouble expressing her needs and does need some assistance with toileting.

She communicates with her gorgeous eyes and through gestures and actions. When people greet her, Journey smiles happily. Journey is an affectionate little girl. For a period of time, she would go down one set of stairs to the office on the second floor when the caretaker was not looking. She would appear suddenly behind one of the workers there and pat the worker. That worker would sometimes then go visit her activity room and Journey would come forward immediately and hug the worker tightly. Her hugs are said to be so tight they are like bear hugs. We can’t wait to see what lucky family is going to be blessed to not only have this little girl in their home and family, but to see those smiles and receive those bear hugs every day!

Jill’s file was updated in October 2020. She is active and energetic. She likes to play and is very happy. Jill is well-behaved and obedient, but afraid of strangers. She currently walks with assistance, and is not yet potty-trained. When she is afraid, she likes hugs.

Everyone LOVES Jolie!!!! She is two and a half, and she is outgoing and full of life and love. What a little sweetie! At 15 months old, she could raise her head if lying on the abdomen, could crawl and turn over, could sit alone freely, could grasp toys near her, could take blocks out the cup, could bang toy blocks together, could visually follow moving toys, could search for the sound source and could search for dropped things. She is outgoing, active and restless, likes music, would wave her head along the rhythm, fond of playing toys, would crawl to seek for toys to play, get along well with other children, play well with other children, seldom cry, when she cries occasionally she will be fine when cuddled.

It is impossible not to smile when looking at pictures of Jenna! She has got character too! In a very recent update, Jenna’s caretakers described her as happy, outgoing, and active. Jenna was brought into care when she was almost 4 months old.

The staff gave Jenna a name representing their good wishes that she would be beautiful, optimistic, happy, and healthy. Jenna was assessed and no medical conditions were found. Jenna does have down syndrome. It is shared that Jenna is a healthy child, who rarely gets sick. At 12 months of age, she was raising her head, turning over, grasping at toys, and sitting upright with support. She enjoys watching television, and is a gregarious child. Jenna’s updated pictures and videos show that she is a very flexible little lady. Jenna would absolutely thrive with the individualized care and attention of a family!
