Curtis
Curtis has typical delays for a child with down syndrome. He could distinguish the difference between strangers and those close to him at the age of 6 months. At 9 months he was rolling over and could clap his hands and use his hands to get his favorite toys. Shortly after he was crawling and able to recognize his name and respond when called. He has been beginning to learn some simple words and trying to pronounce them. Curtis is gentle and cute. He likes to snuggle and receive hugs from his caretakers. He likes when others play with him and when he is happy he will shake hands with other children and kick his feet happily. Curtis gets along well with the other children and is good about sharing his toys. Could you be the lucky family that gets to snuggle with this little teddy bear? Please help us find a family for Curtis now so he can get home while he is still so young!

Owen
Peeta
His speech is so so, since he cannot speak yet, but he has a tendency to speak and utters relatively clear single tones, such as yi, yeh, ah. His self-care ability is so so. He eats with a small spoon and drinks water with a cup. He needs assistance in the shower, going to the toilet, and putting on clothes. In class, he is active and highly motivated, but his attention is not focused and sometimes he is out of control and runs out of his seat without approval and does not listen to the teacher’s instructions. He prefers music, dance, and games, but is not enthusiastic in physical education class, since he is easy to tire and weak in playing sports. He does well in self-training class- basically follows the teacher’s instructions to complete the training. His teachers and classmates all like him a lot, due to his active and outgoing personality and his big smile that he wears all the time. He never fights with others.

Reece

Remi
His foster mother will do some PT for him each day. He can move around on the mattress by himself. He will crawl to you if you shake the rattle to attract him. He will try hard to reach it. He can roll over well. He can hold a bottle to feed himself; he eats well. He can grab things well. He can take off his socks quickly.
Mental: He has down syndrome so his mental ability is behind normal kids. He likes music and will dance when he hears music.
There’s a $2000 grant available for Maya’s adoption with her current agency.
Ronen
Ronen has made great progress with his motor abilities, too. He can walk alone steadily and run, and he is learning to feed himself (though he still needs a little help with that!) In terms of his language ability, Ronen’s nannies believe he has a strong desire to speak. He cannot say any words yet, but he will imitate the shape of the nanny’s mouth when she speaks. He can understand most of what is said to him and can follow instructions. Ronen gets a cold from time to time, but his general health is very good. He has not been found to have a heart condition. Could you be Ronen’s forever family?
Several additional photos & videos available!
Ronen has a $1500 grant available from the agency who currently holds his file.
Samuel
Samuel is outgoing and active and he likes to make new friends. He is well behaved. He has the typical delays of a child with Down syndrome, but is otherwise healthy. He’s similar to other typical kids in gross motor skills: He can walk, run, jump, and climb up/down stairs. He can draw/scribble on paper, pick up thing things with his fingers, and put on/take off shoes, etc. He is close to his caretakers. He knows to care for others. When he is frightened, he goes to his caretakers for hugs. His speech is just starting to develop. Samuel enjoys playing with others — he likes playing ball, and musical toys.
Samuel’s current adoption agency has a $1000 grant for his adoption.

AN UPDATE FROM NOVEMBER 2016 SAYS: Ben has literally transformed before our very eyes in terms of improvement and progress. He came to us at 19 months and could not sit up, and was extremely low tone in all of his muscles. Now he sits up, plays on his own. Gives us good eye contact. Eats table food from a spoon, and sitting in a high chair. He has come a long way in his 4 months here. Video available from the agency.

Quintin
Quintin’s file was prepared when he was one year and nine months of age. At that time, he could walk while holding onto an adult’s hand and could even take a few steps without holding on. He was saying one or two words at that time, such as “baba” or “ajie.” Quintin could be naughty at times. He liked throwing things, especially if it was something he didn’t know how to play with. He can understand adult’s simple instructions. His foster family was working on potty training him. They describe Quintin as sunny, busy, and smiley and say that he loves outdoor activities.
Quince
Julian
Speech Skills: He can understand simple instructions by gestures and speech. For example, “Juilan, come and have meals,” “Julian, come to drink some water,” “Julian, please give me the towel,” “Julian, please sit down and put on your shoes,” etc. Julian likes noodles, congee, steamed bread, and various kinds of fruits, such as bananas, apples, mandarins, grapes, etc.
Julian’s file states that he can stand while holding objects like tables or peoples clothing. His file also says he likes to play with balls and his favorite game is hide and seek. He likes it when his caregiver puts a towel on his head and plays peek a boo, he smiles and giggles happily. Julian’s favorite food is noodles.
Jude
Caregivers describe Jude as a lively and lovely boy who is full of giggles. They say that he has very expressive eyes. With his eyes, Jude can show happiness, distress, fear and anger.
Josh Finley
Jordyn
Abel
Abel is described as timid, shy, and gentle — and well-behaved. He is generally healthy, and not yet potty-trained. He can crawl and stand up when holding onto something, walking back and forth. He can pick up tiny things with his thumb and index finger. Abel gets along well with others, and is attached to his caretakers and granny and close to his roommates. His language is just starting to develop, but he does follow simple directions.
Abel is generally a contented child who likes to have the caregivers play games with him. He will giggle when the games include shaking rattles, mirrors, and hide-and-seek. He has general delays in walking and talking which is typical for children with Down syndrome. He enjoys being in the class with other children and he likes watching what goes on around him.
Abel’s report (from June 2017) shares that: He was weak when admitted to the class. Caregivers give him delicate care, he gradually grows up and becomes more and more lovely. At present, Abel could transfer from lying on back to lying on abdomen and vice versa, likes playing on the mattress, he would be very happy when caregivers tease him with rattles. While lying on back, caregiver shake her hand in front of him, he would giggle, smile when being teased. He often scratch his forehead or look at his hands. He would lift his head high supported with arms against the mattress, look around, play toys with handle. Abel could grasp toys on the toy shelf, try to grasp little towel covering on his face, clap his hands and laugh. He often roll for toys far away, he likes looking at the mirror, shake his head seeing himself in the mirror, try to touch himself in the mirror.
Abel has a $1,000 agency grant.
