He can run and jump, with strong imitation ability. He likes listening to music, dancing, playing football, and playing on the trampoline as well. He likes to chase and play with other kids at ordinary times. Malcolm is currently studying in the orphanage. He is taught with knowledge, mainly courses on improving intelligence and motor skills. He can point at all parts of his body, count from 1 to 5, sing familiar songs, brush his teeth, go to the toilet, lift his pants and flush the toilet. He can tell the front from the back of his clothes and the left shoe from the right shoe. He can put on his own clothes and shoes.

Malcolm can speak “Papa,” “Mama,” “Ayi (aunt)” and other single words, such as “yao (want)” and “wan (play)” etc., but he cannot speak a complete sentence yet. Malcolm is a cute and obedient boy. He is sociable and courteous. He gets along well with his family, teachers, and classmates. He will wave his hands and say hello, but he will not follow strangers. He likes when his parents and brothers take him outside for fun. Malcolm is not picky about food, and meat is his favorite. However, his foster parents usually restrict him from eating raw and cold food, since his digestion is not very good.

There is a $2,500 agency grant for Malcolm’s adoption with a specific adoption agency.

Update from January 2021:  Parker John is well-behaved, follows directions, and fearless.  He gets along well with children and adults in his orphanage.

Wanted: family who loves to laugh, play together, and has room for one more! Parker is looking for you! This handsome guy is 4 years old, and waiting. Parker has Down syndrome with the typical delays. He is very outgoing, loves to play, loves musical toys, and is very sweet. He had surgery in 2014 for a heart issue (PDA) and recovered well. His file states he has an ectopic kidney on the right side. This means the kidney sits in an abnormal position. In most cases, this causes no issues at all, but there is a chance it can lead to later kidney stones or infection. He has had no issues with this to date. Parker needs a family who will love him, and be by his side as he grows and learns.

Donovan understands what his caretakers are saying to him and is cooperative with dressing. He knows his parts of the body and can point to them as directed. His favorite toy is a car and he enjoys listening to music and playing. In a January 2016 update it was reported that Donovan is not speaking much yet but he does babble. He is potty trained during the day and it sounds like they are working on being dry at night as well. Reportedly, he no other health issues.

Nathaniel is healthy, but has had nutritional deficits, most likely related to emotional and safety needs. We are pleased with his healthy head of hair now, that shows he’s so much healthier. Nathaniel clearly needs glasses, and we think this would open up the world for him, but where he lives we’ve not been able to get him tested properly. He doesn’t use words to communicate, but understands words spoken to him. He has high needs for touch, cuddles, and would suit a family where those things are given freely and often, and where he can bond with his people. Nathaniel has grown in confidence and security in recent months, shown by him initiating more independent play. He is kind to his peers and loving to the adults in his life. He is sensitive, cries to express his needs, and what he wants more than anything in the world is time.

Nathaniel lives in a small group home, and is making great progress. Other pictures and additional information are available, for interested families.

A specific adoption agency is currently offering a grant of $1500 towards his adoption.

Noah is a happy and active little boy! Noah was born with Down syndrome and a heart condition, which he had surgery for shortly after arriving at his orphanage. The surgery was successful, and he made a lot of progress as he recovered! Noah loves to roll around on the play mats and play with his toys! He will often hold a ball in his hands and study it while he plays.

Update August 2020:  Noah is an active participant in the daily circle time in his family and attends the in-house kindergarten classes most days of the week. His favorite activities at kindergarten are cooking, music and learning about animals. He loves playing with instruments such as the keyboard, xylophone and tambourine. He at times has difficulty with focus, but can be totally immersed when playing with his favorite toys.

Noah enjoys playing outside particularly ball games, going to the playground, swimming and splashing in the pool. He also likes to dance! He has a good memory and is able to learn different action songs. Noah is a charming little boy who enjoys making funny faces and communicating with others. Noah interacts well with people and is comfortable with his caregivers and brothers. He is able to use single words like “baba” and “mama” to communicate.

Noah is continuing to develop new self-care skills. He is not yet toilet trained, however, is able to feed himself independently with a spoon. With some help from a caregiver, he is able to brush his teeth and wash his face and hands. Noah is a sweet natured, active little boy who likes to explore the world around him. Cory was born with Down syndrome and has a repaired heart defect. In the last year Cory has had the great benefit of living with a foster family and attending a special preschool. This has given him the opportunity to learn so much more than he might have in an institutional setting. Recently he even had the chance to do a little cooking – complete with Chef’s hat! Cory has made so much progress in his development this year, we can only image the things he will do in a family of his own!

Sept 2015 Update: Leon seems like a bright boy and from our short time visiting him he integrated well and seemed content. He was very smiley! A family wanting to adopt a child with Down syndrome would be very blessed by Leon.

January 2016 update: Leon is nearly ready to walk by himself! He loves to move around either by crawling or when holding onto something for support or someone’s hand he can walk. He tried taking a few steps unaided but his balance wasn’t quite there yet. He looks for things hidden such as when I put my phone under my leg he searched around for it. He is very eager to engage and play with those around him.

Leon is a cute boy who loves to get around. He crawls all over the place and will stand up and walk when holding onto something or someone! Most of all, he enjoys his independence when in the baby walker. While he feeds well from a bottle, he has not yet transitioned to solid food. Leon communicates with sounds and gestures but is not yet saying words. He is very interactive with others and smiles when he sees loved ones. He loves to reach out and be with other children as well as his caregivers. He is especially fond of hugs and watching TV.

A specific adoption agency is offering a $1500 grant towards Leon’s adoption!

Freddie was abandoned at 7 months old. He is diagnosed with Down Syndrome and funnel chest. Freddie’s medical information is 3 years old, but we do have some recent information from his orphanage. While we are working to get an updated medical for him, the recent report, photos, and videos can give a good picture of Freddie’s development. Neither the medical or report indicate any significant delays with his physical development.

Freddie’s videos show him walking steadily, kicking a ball, and playing with blocks, indicating that his gross and fine motor skills appear to be on target. Freddie reportedly can understand simple language and is seen following directions in his videos, though we are not sure if Freddie is able to speak. Freddie attends school in the orphanage, but there is no language training available which inhibits his ability to learn to speak. His intelligence is slightly delayed compared to his peers, but he could potentially make progress with the proper services and interventions.

Freddie is said to be outgoing, active, and loving. The orphanage reports that he can make new friends easily and he is seen playing with other children in his videos. Freddie has a sweet smile and pleasant demeanor. He has some self-care ability; he reportedly can do simple tasks alone, but needs assistance with other tasks such as taking a shower. The orphanage reports that Freddie can have bowel and bladder control, but he does not at this time.

Freddie needs the love and support of a family to help him thrive. Could Freddie find a home with your family?

Ennis has good fine motor skills. He loves to be outdoors, and loves his foster mama! He is imitating words, and his receptive speech is typical for a 2 year old…he hears what he wants to hear. According to a 2013 report, he giggles happily when being tickled and teased, and smiles when you call his name! He can recognize familiar faces and loves to be cuddled. Even though he can be quiet at times, he can be silly and likes to stick out his tongue. He sleeps well at night and has a good appetite. He loves playing with toys, especially ones that make sounds! Just look at that smile little Lucas has! Lucas is waiting for a family to see him and come for him. He is an active little boy who can be impatient at times. He will cry if a stranger tries to hold him and gets upset when other kids grab toys from him. However, he easily calms down when comforted or when given candy. He is able to say some simple words in Chinese like aunt and sister, though his speech is a little unclear. Lucas can wave his hands to to say goodbye and is able to walk on his own. He reacts when people call his name. Lucas enjoys playing with children in the same room as him and he likes to play with toys and building blocks. He loves playing on the playground and the seesaw is his favorite! Lucas has down syndrome and an ASD congenital heart defect that will not require surgery.

Lucian is a cute baby boy with Down Syndrome. He had a heart condition when staff visited the orphanage in February, but it has since closed on its own. An active little boy, he has good head control, though he’s not quite stable sitting on his own. Lucian loves playing with blocks and rattles, and smiles when caregivers tease him. Currently he babbles, and can express whether he is happy or unhappy with noises.

From March 2013: Under the patient care and training, Marcel has more communication with others and the outside world, and he is interested in some toys. Sometimes when he is doing activity on the cushion, he will reach toys on the shelf when lying on back, and makes the toys make sound. And the sound can make him feel happy. He can also get up the objects and toys near hand, and the put them into his mouth, if he failed to get the toy he can move his body to get. He can follow rolling red training ball, and his sight follow the ball to turn. When lying on back he can raise up head for 2-3 seconds, when lying on back he can touch toys on the toy shelf. Now he lives happily in this institute, and caretaker takes patient care of him and trains him and forms him some basic motion skills according to his growth. We hope that he can have a family. He is gentle, likes colorful toys.

When Devan was found abandoned in September 2014 it was estimated that he was about 1.5 years old. When Devan first arrived in the orphanage, he was a very unhappy baby who was very “weak and floppy”. The orphanage staff decided it would be best if he was placed with a loving experienced foster family. His foster mother worked with him diligently, and by 3 years old he was walking and potty trained. Devan does not speak well. He occasionally calls his foster father baba (dad) and sometimes when he is playing by himself he talks to himself, but others do not know what he is saying. With that being said, Devan is able to express his needs and wants. For example, whenever he gets a treat, such as a candy bar, he will place it in his foster mother’s hands and look up at her, letting her know that he wants her to open it for him. Devan has been able to learn some gestures. He will shake a persons hand when saying hello and wave good-bye to them when they leave.

Devan is described as quiet and well behaved. He likes to play with building blocks. He also enjoys playing with neighbor kids. He recently began attending school and has made great progress there.

“Musical Moses is waiting for a family. He is diagnosed as having 1. Post-op Congenital Heart Disease- VSD, PFO, mild tricuspid regurgitation, PH; 2. Down Syndrome. From his August 2014 file: Moses can now sit alone, walk independently for a few steps, and can clap his hands. He is active and he sometimes will make sounds by clapping his mouth to draw people’s attention.

He likes to sit in his walker and to walk by holding onto the chair. He is afraid of plush toys and dolls. He does not like deep colored things and he will not touch them. He does not like to eat chocolate cake, but he does like chewy snacks like crackers and he also likes to eat apples. Moses likes to ride the rocking horse the best. When he is tired of rocking, he will look at you and if you rock the horse for him, he will laugh happily. He has a strong imitating ability. All he needs now is for his family to see him and bring him home!

The child can recognize familiar people near to him, and is able to remember 3 to 4 people. When he sees familiar people he wants a hug.

Nanne is an especially cute child. Everyone really likes him. We all hope that he will quickly find a loving home where he can enjoy the love of a father and a mother, have a happy childhood, and a beautiful future. He could search for dropped items, build a tower with blocks and play games like patty cake. He could laugh, imitate words and vocalize sounds like “mama.” Nashville was able to hold a crayon and scribble on paper, throw a ball, run and jump. He lives with a foster family and had 2 foster siblings in his home. Caretakers said he eats well and is very playful. They hope he will find a family to love him.

What a little love muffin Curtis is! Curtis is diagnosed as having down syndrome and is post-op CHD-TOF (elsewhere in his file it mentions an ultrasound reported PFO, ASD, and PDA).

Curtis has typical delays for a child with down syndrome. He could distinguish the difference between strangers and those close to him at the age of 6 months. At 9 months he was rolling over and could clap his hands and use his hands to get his favorite toys. Shortly after he was crawling and able to recognize his name and respond when called. He has been beginning to learn some simple words and trying to pronounce them. Curtis is gentle and cute. He likes to snuggle and receive hugs from his caretakers. He likes when others play with him and when he is happy he will shake hands with other children and kick his feet happily. Curtis gets along well with the other children and is good about sharing his toys. Could you be the lucky family that gets to snuggle with this little teddy bear? Please help us find a family for Curtis now so he can get home while he is still so young!

Paulie is doing his best to grow in all aspects of his life. Paulie can sit up for a few minutes and he is learning transitional movements from sitting to crawling, moving forward on his stomach and using his arms and legs (one of the steps towards crawling). Paulie doesn’t talk yet, but is headed in that direction. He makes recognizable sounds to communicate. These include clicking his tongue to show happiness. This is a new sound of self-expression to communicate and we are excited because it is an effort he makes towards speech! He does not speak words at this time, but he is using more vocal sounds to express joy or unhappiness. Paulie’s fine motor skills are satisfactory. He enjoys playing with toys that hang on strings or toys that can dangle. Paulie has Down Syndrome but he is working hard to be all that he can be. He has great enthusiasm for life and an even greater smile! Could Paulie be a part of your family?

Update Oct 2019: Physical and intellectual aspects: Peeta has Down syndrome with good health and normal limbs that can move freely. He cannot eat large or hard food, but soft and chopped food. His physical strength is not good, since he tends to be fatigued after he completes some sports. His fine motor skills and cognition are poor, since he cannot recognize those daily necessities. In November of 2018, he was sent to the hospital for disability assessment and was assessed as Grade II intellectual disability.

His speech is so so, since he cannot speak yet, but he has a tendency to speak and utters relatively clear single tones, such as yi, yeh, ah. His self-care ability is so so. He eats with a small spoon and drinks water with a cup. He needs assistance in the shower, going to the toilet, and putting on clothes. In class, he is active and highly motivated, but his attention is not focused and sometimes he is out of control and runs out of his seat without approval and does not listen to the teacher’s instructions. He prefers music, dance, and games, but is not enthusiastic in physical education class, since he is easy to tire and weak in playing sports. He does well in self-training class- basically follows the teacher’s instructions to complete the training. His teachers and classmates all like him a lot, due to his active and outgoing personality and his big smile that he wears all the time. He never fights with others.

Romeo is an energetic, outgoing little boy. He was abandoned approximately a year after he was born and was diagnosed with Down syndrome upon admission to the orphanage. When he was about a year old, he was not able to walk and slowly adjusted to his new environment. He cried less often as he became more familiar with his caregivers. Our most recent update from April, 2015 indicates that he can crawl around, stand with assistance, and even walk around in a walker! Caregivers have reported that he can sometimes be naughty and walk around in his walker to open cabinets and pull out clothes. He can understand what adults say to him, respond to simple requests asking for objects, and wave goodbye. He can now say “mom” and his caregivers are continuing to improve his speech. He loves to play with his toys, listen to music, and play with other children. His favorite game is hide and seek! His motor abilities continue to improve to where he is able to pick up small objects with his hands and hold a pen to scribble. He sleeps well at night and has a good appetite.

From his current agency: There is a $4000 grant available to families who qualify to assist with the cost of this adoption. In addition, the application fee and pre-approval deposit have been waived for this child.

Would you look at the smile on this little guy? Ronen is such a happy kiddo! When you talk with Ronen’s nannies about him, they cannot help but boast about how much progress he has made! They say his learning abilities in particular have made astonishing progress! When he gets back from school he will immediately grab a book off the bookshelf and sit quietly to look at it. He is full of curiosity and is fascinated by everything he sees!

Ronen has made great progress with his motor abilities, too. He can walk alone steadily and run, and he is learning to feed himself (though he still needs a little help with that!) In terms of his language ability, Ronen’s nannies believe he has a strong desire to speak. He cannot say any words yet, but he will imitate the shape of the nanny’s mouth when she speaks. He can understand most of what is said to him and can follow instructions. Ronen gets a cold from time to time, but his general health is very good. He has not been found to have a heart condition. Could you be Ronen’s forever family?

Several additional photos & videos available!

Ronen has a $1500 grant available from the agency who currently holds his file.
