Jojo will look at someone speaking to him and will grasp their hand and play. He laughs happily when you hold his hands and play with him. Jojo sometimes babbles. He sits well when being fed and cooperates when having his diaper changed. He really needs a family that can meet him where he’s at and help him grow and develop with the love, good nutrition, therapies, and resources a forever family can provide.

Jocelyn is living in a foster family and is diagnosed as having Down Syndrome and CHD. In November of 2016, she had a VSD repair, ligation of PDA, PFO (patent foramen ovale) closure, and tricuspid plasty. Agency staff have met Jocelyn multiple times.

Joaquin is a cutie pie who was born with down syndrome and a congenital heart defect-an ASD that appears to have closed on its own. Joaquin is said to always have a smile on his face ad laughs out loud when teased. Joaquin loves when his caregivers lovingly touch him or hold him. He carefully concentrates on his caretaker’s face and expressions when she works with him on exercises. At 9 months of age, he was making sounds to respond to his caretakers and could roll over and crawl across a room. Joaquin was good at grabbing for toys and holding onto them. He also was able to recognize his name and could track sound. He reads his caregiver’s facial expressions well and responds appropriately. Joaquin has stranger anxiety that is typical for a child his age and is close with his special caregiver. He loves to hold her hand and smiles at her when she smiles at him or when she compliments him. When the weather is nice, Joaquin enjoys outdoor time. He has a good appetite and is a good sleeper too. Joaquin is quiet and obedient and likes to play with his favorite toys or play games with other children, led by his caretakers. We hope this handsome little fella finds a family who can get him home while he is still so young!

The staff gave Jenna a name representing their good wishes that she would be beautiful, optimistic, happy, and healthy. Jenna was assessed and no medical conditions were found. Jenna does have down syndrome. It is shared that Jenna is a healthy child, who rarely gets sick. At 12 months of age, she was raising her head, turning over, grasping at toys, and sitting upright with support. She enjoys watching television, and is a gregarious child. Jenna’s updated pictures and videos show that she is a very flexible little lady. Jenna would absolutely thrive with the individualized care and attention of a family!

Jaya is an adorable little girl with a sweet face! During her first year of life, her growth was delayed in comparison to same-age peers. Her caregivers describe her as introverted and she prefers quiet time. She loves being cuddled by her favorite caregiver, and can distinguish her from other caregivers who are less familiar to her. She can hold up her head while lying on her stomach, although she cannot yet crawl or sit upright. She can babble sounds like “nai nai” and her caregivers describe her as easy to smile! She can be very attentive to where she can follow the direction of sounds and voices, and can visually follow moving toys—she’ll even reach out grab toys nearby. WACAP staff met with her in May of 2015 and reported that she was relaxed and had a good connection with her caregiver; she makes good eye contact when interacting with others! She has soft muscle tone and needs extra support of her head and neck when being held. We have several updated photos and videos from our trip for interested families!

He liked sitting in a rocking chair and making it swing by pushing off the ground with his feet. He seldom cried, had a good appetite, and gave sweet smiles when he was happy. He could hold his head up while lying on his stomach and roll over, but was not yet crawling or sitting independently. He knew his name and would turn to look for the source of his name being called. He could follow moving people with his eyes. Haidyn couldn’t yet speak or imitate language very well, but he could communicate his feelings by laughing or crying. Update December 2019: Guy is growing up to be such a handsome boy! He is a happy boy who loves to play and spend time with those he knows well, giving big smiles and lots of affection. He lives in a centre in a small group home with other similar aged boys. Guy loves attending circle time in his home, which involves group songs and interactive games. He also enjoys being taken to the playground next to the building that he lives in, particularly liking the swing and slide. Guy has started to develop imagination in play! He loves pretending to pick apples from a tree and eat them with his volunteer grandmother. His attention span in play has been noted to be growing, and he can play for extended amounts of time with motivating toys and activities.

Guy attends kindergarten lessons 3 days per week, and is making great progress in his learning, play, and self-care skills. Guy is very proud that he is now able to independently feed himself with a spoon! His carers report that he is a great little helper, often helping with tidying up after mealtimes or putting toys away when playtime is finished. Guy is a social boy, who actively tries to communicate through a mixture of gestures and a few simple words. Those around him describe him as a child who knows what he wants, and that he will persist in making himself understood despite his lack of speech. Guy is able to follow basic instructions and engages well with his structured daily routine. We are hoping that his forever family sees him soon!

Grey has such beautiful eyes! His report is from May of 2017 so he really needs an update. The report says at 6 months old he could wave his hands and was happy. At 9 months he could reach for toys and hold milk bottle. When he was 12 months old Grey could turn from lying down to facing down and he could use one hand to hold his body weight. He could also sit alone and reach for stuff with his fingers. When he was 1 year old and 2 months, he could poke or pull objects with thumb and other fingers and drop stuff. When he was 1 year and 4 months old his hands and mouth movements were coordinated. At this age Grey is also starting to talk. He pats small balls and toys. He smiles at familiar people. He reacts to unpleasant sounds. He turns easily from crying to laughing. He stares at strangers when they enter his room, and becomes shy. He likes hugging the nurses. Please let us know if you would like an update of this great kid and don’t forget to check out his video!

Greyson is a precious little guy! A hearing test showed a 40dB threshold of the left ear and a 50dB threshold of the right ear. Greyson can hold his bottle to drink milk and he will open his hands and let the caretaker cuddle him when she comes by to take the bottle. He is very happy when he drinks up all his milk, but Greyson is happiest when his caretaker holds him! He also likes sitting in his caretaker’s arms and watching the other children play. He will clap several times when he’s happy. Greyson is a quiet and generally good-spirited little fella. He doesn’t cry when the caretaker changes his diaper. He quietly waits for his caretaker to hold him and, when she does, he will smile at her happily. Greyson loves taking a bath, patting the water surface with his hands. He will laugh happily when it splashes. Greyson is just the sweetest little guy and we hope his forever family will see him and get to him soon! Someone is missing out on these precious smiles and snuggles!

He has a good appetite and really likes to eat noodles, but does not like sweet foods or yogurt. Finnick gets along well with his foster family and likes to be with them. Finnick can find the source of sounds and his eyes move to follow his foster mom when she is walking around. Finnick falls asleep easily and sleeps well. At the time his file was prepared, Finnick’s motor development was delayed, but he could turn over by himself and sit independently. When he wants to get something on the ground, he will make an effort to move his body. Finnick will make sounds of “dada” when he is playing happily in his walker. Finnick likes listening to music and will listen attentively and quietly. His file states – The child is active, optimistic, restless and will cry when meeting with strangers. He will cry when he is hungry or when he wets his diaper. When teased the child can smile, seeing aunts who take care of him, he will move his limbs happily. Under the care and love of the caretakers in the institute, he can feel safe, happy and satisfaction. He has built a solid and close relation with his caretakers. It sounds like this boy has learned to attach which will make it easier for him to attach to his new family over time. Are you his Mama?

Dobie is a delightful little boy with a love for music and dancing. In April of 2016, Dobie was moved from his orphanage to a foster family. Dobie can say dad and mum and can turn his head when called. When strangers try to hold him, he goes to his foster parents and shakes his head, refusing to let them hold him. He can wave goodbye, clap his hands, and copy his foster mother’s dance moves, putting his hands up in the air and shaking his body to the beat. Dobie can stand up from a sitting position and walk short distances. He makes a lot of sounds and loves to babble. He seems to be very on target developmentally in comparison to other children with down syndrome his age.

Dobie enjoys playing with his older foster brother and playing outside. If his foster brother is being bossy, he will hit him with a toy and sometimes bite him- he certainly knows how to stand up for himself! Dobie loves it when his foster mom holds his hand and his foster mother says he is a smart and flexible little boy. He will take the bottle when someone fills it up to drink on his own. He likes to eat apples and jelly the most. Dobie can learn how to play with a toy quickly after being taught. He really likes the toy trumpet. Dobie also likes playing with small balls, toy cars, and watching tv.

Look at the smile on Dax! Isn’t he the cutest? In August of 2018 the orphanage staff said the following: Dax is an active, outgoing and optimistic child. He gets along well with others and is so adored. Motor skills and fine motor skills: he is able to turn his head to left and right side freely; he can hold his head up while lying on the stomach; he can roll over freely, can stand for a moment with hands holding the support. He is very naughty and always puts his hands into his mouth. He is wonderful, he can clap his hands and beat the toy; he can grasp the object with his thumb and other fingers.

He knows to locate the direction of sounds, can visually move follow the moving people or object; he can grasp and beat the toy with hands, or put the toy into his mouth to bite; sometimes he clasps the object directly. Dax knows to get the adult’s attention by crying so that his needs are met. He laughs loudly when happy; he listens to the adult carefully when he is cuddled. He begins to babble. At the same time he makes two or more words, such as da-da-da, a-ba-ba; he recognizes his familiar sounds. Dax is outgoing, optimistic and active; he enjoys that someone is speaking to him. Could you be the family for this much adored child?

A social worker who met Cullen recently describes him as an alert, active little boy. He has good balance and can take 2-3 steps on his own. He babbles, but doesn’t yet speak words. He likes to ride on rolling toys and plays well with others.
