Harper is a three year old sweetie who loves to dance and blow kisses! She is an active and fun little girl with a beautiful smile. Harper has benefited from living with the same foster family for over two years and they have been providing her with wonderful opportunities to grow and learn in a family environment. Harper was born with down syndrome and no other medical issues. She has good physical skills – running, jumping, and climbing stairs. Her speech is a little unclear at times, but she understands what is said to her. Harper loves playing with her friends and her favorite foods are fruits such as watermelon and apples.  Could your family be Harper’s forever family?

Additional videos (very recent!) and photos are available from the agency. Families qualify for a $5,000 subsidy through Harper Anne’s current agency.

Hanna has Down syndrome and was abandoned as a newborn. Hanna has a big smile and is described as an active little girl. Since being placed with a foster family, she has made progress in her language, physical, cognitive, social and emotional development. Hanna is not a big talker, but she understands and responds to her teacher. She can use the bathroom, get dressed/undressed on her own, throw and chase a ball. Hanna likes to care for other children and comfort them when they are sad. Could this sweet girl be your daughter?

Update: 5 year old Hanna is an absolute doll! Agency staff were blessed to meet her in September of 2015. She is in foster care in the orphanage village on the orphanage grounds. She attends school in the orphanage, where she is in her 2nd year of kindergarten. She likes to play with toys and help put chairs away at school. She is friends with all of the kids in her class. She loves sweet dim sum, crackers, and cakes. Hanna likes playing with the sports equipment, especially balls. She is toilet trained.

Hanna was sent to the orphanage in 2014. She had a scar on her neck when she came- the orphanage is not sure what it was from. She is super cute, smiley, flexible, and very friendly! She laughed happily and is always excited to see new people. She offers toys to new friends and is good with sharing. She is not at all aggressive. She only makes noises and mimics. She has a couple of simple words, but is not totally clear. Hanna loves to dance and has good gross motor skills. She has good fine motor skills as well and can string beads. She is independent with her care- she can dress and undress herself and feed herself using a spoon and a cup. Hanna is high functioning for a child with down syndrome. She is a very happy and loving girl who will bless some lucky family so much!

Halle really likes to dance. She is most skilled at the “Little Running Pig” dance. If you play music, she cannot help but to start dancing. She will look at the beautiful flowers and grass in the garden. She will point at them and say: “Nannies, quickly, look!” with an extremely cheerful smile.

Little Halle is very well-behaved. Every time she is done eating, she will clear away her bowl and take all of the bowls. Then, she will arrange all the little stools. Everyone all really likes bright, clever and sensible Halle. Please help us find a forever family for Halle!

Adorable Haidyn was born with Down syndrome and an extra finger on his right hand. Haidyn was described in his file as a quiet and lovely boy who was not afraid of strangers. He liked sitting in a rocking chair and making it swing by pushing off the ground with his feet. He seldom cried, had a good appetite, and gave sweet smiles when he was happy. He could hold his head up while lying on his stomach and roll over, but was not yet crawling or sitting independently. He knew his name and would turn to look for the source of his name being called. He could follow moving people with his eyes. Haidyn couldn’t yet speak or imitate language very well, but he could communicate his feelings by laughing or crying. His file has a somewhat recent video and a couple newer photos, but no written update. We’d be happy to try to get more information for an interested family and hope that Haidyn’s family sees him soon! He’s waited long enough!

Hai can’t say any words, but he can make sounds and knows to stretch out his hand if he needs something. His nannies think he is a very bright little boy – you can tell he is very aware of his nannies facial expressions and his environment. Hai is such a happy baby! Could you be his forever family?

Update December 2019: Guy is growing up to be such a handsome boy! He is a happy boy who loves to play and spend time with those he knows well, giving big smiles and lots of affection. He lives in a centre in a small group home with other similar aged boys. Guy loves attending circle time in his home, which involves group songs and interactive games. He also enjoys being taken to the playground next to the building that he lives in, particularly liking the swing and slide. Guy has started to develop imagination in play! He loves pretending to pick apples from a tree and eat them with his volunteer grandmother. His attention span in play has been noted to be growing, and he can play for extended amounts of time with motivating toys and activities.

Guy attends kindergarten lessons 3 days per week, and is making great progress in his learning, play, and self-care skills. Guy is very proud that he is now able to independently feed himself with a spoon! His carers report that he is a great little helper, often helping with tidying up after mealtimes or putting toys away when playtime is finished. Guy is a social boy, who actively tries to communicate through a mixture of gestures and a few simple words. Those around him describe him as a child who knows what he wants, and that he will persist in making himself understood despite his lack of speech. Guy is able to follow basic instructions and engages well with his structured daily routine. We are hoping that his forever family sees him soon!

Grey has such beautiful eyes! His report is from May of 2017 so he really needs an update. The report says at 6 months old he could wave his hands and was happy. At 9 months he could reach for toys and hold milk bottle. When he was 12 months old Grey could turn from lying down to facing down and he could use one hand to hold his body weight. He could also sit alone and reach for stuff with his fingers. When he was 1 year old and 2 months, he could poke or pull objects with thumb and other fingers and drop stuff. When he was 1 year and 4 months old his hands and mouth movements were coordinated. At this age Grey is also starting to talk. He pats small balls and toys. He smiles at familiar people. He reacts to unpleasant sounds. He turns easily from crying to laughing. He stares at strangers when they enter his room, and becomes shy. He likes hugging the nurses. Please let us know if you would like an update of this great kid and don’t forget to check out his video!

Greyson is a precious little guy! A hearing test showed a 40dB threshold of the left ear and a 50dB threshold of the right ear. Greyson can hold his bottle to drink milk and he will open his hands and let the caretaker cuddle him when she comes by to take the bottle. He is very happy when he drinks up all his milk, but Greyson is happiest when his caretaker holds him! He also likes sitting in his caretaker’s arms and watching the other children play. He will clap several times when he’s happy. Greyson is a quiet and generally good-spirited little fella. He doesn’t cry when the caretaker changes his diaper. He quietly waits for his caretaker to hold him and, when she does, he will smile at her happily. Greyson loves taking a bath, patting the water surface with his hands. He will laugh happily when it splashes. Greyson is just the sweetest little guy and we hope his forever family will see him and get to him soon! Someone is missing out on these precious smiles and snuggles!

Freddie was abandoned at 7 months old. He is diagnosed with Down Syndrome and funnel chest. Freddie’s medical information is 3 years old, but we do have some recent information from his orphanage. While we are working to get an updated medical for him, the recent report, photos, and videos can give a good picture of Freddie’s development. Neither the medical or report indicate any significant delays with his physical development.

Freddie’s videos show him walking steadily, kicking a ball, and playing with blocks, indicating that his gross and fine motor skills appear to be on target. Freddie reportedly can understand simple language and is seen following directions in his videos, though we are not sure if Freddie is able to speak. Freddie attends school in the orphanage, but there is no language training available which inhibits his ability to learn to speak. His intelligence is slightly delayed compared to his peers, but he could potentially make progress with the proper services and interventions.

Freddie is said to be outgoing, active, and loving. The orphanage reports that he can make new friends easily and he is seen playing with other children in his videos. Freddie has a sweet smile and pleasant demeanor. He has some self-care ability; he reportedly can do simple tasks alone, but needs assistance with other tasks such as taking a shower. The orphanage reports that Freddie can have bowel and bladder control, but he does not at this time.

Freddie needs the love and support of a family to help him thrive. Could Freddie find a home with your family?

Esther is an outgoing little girl who filled the room with her own high-energy sunshine when our staff saw her on a trip. Everything she saw delighted her- the giant rolling balls, brightly colored pipe cleaners, blocks to stack. She has Down syndrome, and seems to have good motor skills; she can run and jump, but her verbal skills are currently limited to “mama,” “baba,” and some expressive syllables. However she will also use gestures to express herself, and understand directions from her nannies.

This curious little girl likes playing on the playground and enjoys all sorts of toys. Her nanny told our staff she’s very good at imitating what others around her are doing. When they sit down to rest, she will pat their backs, and if other children are crying, she will comfort them with a cuddle. Her self-care skills are good, she can feed and dress herself. She has had surgery for a heart condition, and the doctor with our staff didn’t hear any murmurs.

There is a $4000 Child Grant that may be available to families through the agency.

She always looks at her creation afterwards and is so proud! Her nannies tell us she also loves to get her picture taken. When she sees someone with a camera she gets very excited and begins to pose for a picture – it is very cute!

Erica walks a bit slowly, but she can walk, run, jump, and go up or downstairs without any problems. She can say a few words and can understand what adults say to her. Her limb function appears to be normal and she can put on her shoes, socks, and pants on her own. Please help Erica find her forever family!

Enzo likes playing with other children and likes colorful toys and toys that make sound. He can sway his body to the music. Emery is well adapted to her daily routine in the orphanage. She eats three meals a day but doesn’t have a big appetite and doesn’t care for snacks or desserts. The orphanage staff make efforts to enrich her days to help her development by watching TV, listening to music, playing with toys and taking her out for outdoor activities.

Her motion development is slightly delayed compared to other children but staff feel this is due to her being in orphanage life and not with a family. They say her opportunities are more limited there although she does participate in rehabilitation training in the institute. At the time of her report she was 3.5 years old and could sit independently, hold toys to play and walk holding the wall. She was described as being extroverted, well liked and having a ready smile. Emory could take off her socks and pants and was in good physical condition, but wasn’t yet speaking. Orphanage staff hope she will be adopted by a family who can educate her and help her grow up to be a happy girl.

His file states – The child is active, optimistic, restless and will cry when meeting with strangers. He will cry when he is hungry or when he wets his diaper. When teased the child can smile, seeing aunts who take care of him, he will move his limbs happily. Under the care and love of the caretakers in the institute, he can feel safe, happy and satisfaction. He has built a solid and close relation with his caretakers. It sounds like this boy has learned to attach which will make it easier for him to attach to his new family over time. Are you his Mama?
