Lionel

At the age of 40-42 months he was very active, liked going out to play, even in cold days. He still did not speak much, besides father and mother he can say other words unclearly with the help of adults. He had to be fed, but he can drink water alone with cup with suction tubes. 43 months-present it has been too cold and he stays in house for most of the time. He likes to watch TV, and if there are children dancing in the program he will learn from them. He likes eating meat and is not choosy to food. He naps for 1-2 hours and has deep sleep. Sometimes he sleeps with adults, and sometimes he sleeps alone on his own bed. If he wants to go to toilet he will crouch and pull his trousers to tell adults sometimes. If adults remind him of going to toilet he will do so but they have to help him take off the trousers. He is very strong and seldom falls ill.
Lien has a bond with a little friend in the SWI as well as his caregivers. He likes playing a game of chase and playing with blocks. He is very affectionate and enjoys attention, snuggling in his caretaker’s arms. He understands instructions of caregivers. Lien is cooperative with his therapist when in rehabilitation training.
Lianna could really benefit from a loving forever home that is able to see all her potential and be able to love her for exactly who she is.
Liam had the opportunity to visit the US as part of the Winter 2016 China Hosting Program! He spent 3 weeks playing, learning, and laughing with his host family. Here is what they shared with us:
“Liam is a very happy little guy with the most contagious giggles you’ll ever hear, and I have no doubt that he’ll bring much joy to his forever family. He is a very energetic and active little guy who enjoys playing outside (at the playground, swinging and going down the slide are favorite activities), but he also is great at entertaining himself indoors by looking at books or “writing” (making marks on paper). He has a great imagination and especially loves to pretend to cook! He plays well with others but just as often seems to enjoy playing independently.
Liam also has a bit of a mischievous streak — which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but he does sometimes need help redirecting some of his energy to a more positive activity. I did see improvement throughout his time here with his ability to be redirected, and discipline-wise, short “time-ins” where we sat together quietly on the floor seemed to be most effective.
Liam LOVES to eat…And would eat ALL the time if I let him. He is not picky at all; he’s eaten everything I’ve given him — fruit, veggies, yogurt, meat, pasta, etc. The hardest thing for him is being done with a meal/snack — even if he has had plenty to eat, he still wants more. This does seem to be getting a bit better, though.
It was fun having Liam here & seeing him come out of his shell! He definitely keeps me on my toes because he is very active/into everything, but he has a great imagination that has been fun to watch. He also really has done a GREAT job transitioning into family life/life in the US.”
You can see more photos and videos from Liam’s time in the US on his advocacy page. Liam’s nannies tell us he is learning self-care skills. His recent health has been good, and he is not currently showing any symptoms of heart disease.
January 2016 update: Leon is nearly ready to walk by himself! He loves to move around either by crawling or when holding onto something for support or someone’s hand he can walk. He tried taking a few steps unaided but his balance wasn’t quite there yet. He looks for things hidden such as when I put my phone under my leg he searched around for it. He is very eager to engage and play with those around him.
Leon is a cute boy who loves to get around. He crawls all over the place and will stand up and walk when holding onto something or someone! Most of all, he enjoys his independence when in the baby walker. While he feeds well from a bottle, he has not yet transitioned to solid food. Leon communicates with sounds and gestures but is not yet saying words. He is very interactive with others and smiles when he sees loved ones. He loves to reach out and be with other children as well as his caregivers. He is especially fond of hugs and watching TV.
A specific adoption agency is offering a $1500 grant towards Leon’s adoption!

Updated February 2019: Sweet Lena has delays, due to her Down syndrome. She is not yet potty-trained, and she is introverted, easy-going, and not fussy. She’s just starting to walk around.
Lena’s current agency has a $5000 grant available for her adoption.
UPDATE: April 2016 Leia is a pretty girl who was very eager to come play when our staff visited in April 2016; she hovered nearby while they talked with other children trying to patiently wait her turn! She is diagnosed with Down syndrome, and they learned from staff that she had surgery for a heart murmur in 2014. They observed nystagmus but the caregivers report it doesn’t seem to affect her vision in daily life. She also has some facial paralysis on her left side, but this was already the case when she came to the orphanage so they don’t know the cause. She was very focused when playing with the toys, and quickly figured out the stacking cups. She did fairly well on the shape sorter, though sometimes she had to try a few times to find the right match. She needed to be looking directly at the lid with the shape holes (straight on) in order to use it. She receives lessons at the orphanage, and is able to point to some colors when asked, but can’t yet count. She tries to put words together in sentences, though her speech isn’t clear. She gets along well with other kids, and loves to hold the babies!
Additional information available. She is surrounded by people that love her and children who loves to play games with her. They wish Lauren all the best and hope she will lead a successful life and live happily ever after.
Larsen can walk, run, and jump. He can open doors and get things out of reach by moving a chair and climbing up on the chair. He will shake his bottom and dance when he’s happy. Larsen’s hands and feet are flexible. He has good fine motor skills. He likes to clean up messes, imitate pictures he sees on his foster dad’s cell phone, and imitate people walking backwards. Larsen enjoys playing hide-and-seek with his foster sister. When an older neighbor lady visits the family, Larsen will wave his hands happily to greet her. A little brother recently joined the foster family and Larsen will go to the end of the bed to see him every day. Larsen will push the little brother’s stroller and play with him. Larsen likes playing games with his foster sister, playing outdoors in the park, and playing with water. He will sometimes play in the water with his sister in the bathroom when his foster mom is busy or not paying attention. Larsen sounds like a typical little boy who is going to thrive in a forever family! We hope his family sees him soon!
There is a $2,500 agency grant for Larsen’s adoption with a specific adoption agency. Larsen needs a family with an approved home study to be able to hold his file or move forward with adopting him.
Lark has a $1,500 agency grant for her adoption with a specific adoption agency. Other grants may be available based on the adoptive family’s circumstances. Agency grants are awarded as agency fee reductions.
Most recently, at the beginning of 2018, Kraig was at a foster home in a major city receiving medical treatment, but was recently recalled back to his orphanage due to new law in his country, in the Spring of 2018.
Mischievous Kolton loves performing for his nannies, his friends, and any visitors who stop by. This outgoing boy has a good sense of humor and loves to make people laugh. He’s a quick imitator and often encourages the nannies to sit down so he can be the “Teacher”. Kolton was born with Down syndrome and a heart defect. His physical development is good and he can run quite fast! Kolton’s speech is not clear and he only has a few words. He relies mainly on a form of sign language to communicate. Kolton need a family who is ready to access a range of services to help this young actor reach his potential.
Are you ready for some play acting with Kolton?
“Chloe is independent in most self care skills throughout the day. At times, her caregivers will supervise her to make sure she is completing a task correctly like dressing. She enjoys mealtimes and can feed herself with a spoon. She can brush her teeth and toilet independently. She loves selecting her own clothes and wearing pretty dresses! Her caregivers report she will change clothes if she prefers to wear something else over what has been selected for the day. Chloe attends a special school outside of the Project and Welfare Center. She attends school 5 days a week. Her classes at school include fine motor activities, exercise, language, art and self care skill development. Despite some difficulties with focus and concentration, Chloe has shown she has an ability to learn and is making progress in her subjects. Chloe loves many activities, especially if she can do them with other children or a carer. She enjoys dancing, singing, playing games with her sisters, watching stories on TV, going for a walk or to the playground, drawing/crafting, and having her picture taken! Chloe LOVES all things girly including dresses, painting her nails, and sparkly headbands.”
There is a $1,500 agency grant for Chloe’s adoption with her current adoption agency.
Updated early 2021: She is in good health. She can speak simple words but also uses gestures. She is less proficient in language than her peers with Down Syndrome. She can follow directions. “Although she is not a good singer, she enjoys music lessons.” She likes to draw, dance and play with friends. She is cheerful, obedient, and affectionate.
Keven’s agency has a $5000 grant, available to families who qualify, to assist with the cost of this adoption.
There is an agency grant of $6,000 toward the agency fees for a qualified family adopting Katelyn.
Speech Skills: He can understand simple instructions by gestures and speech. For example, “Juilan, come and have meals,” “Julian, come to drink some water,” “Julian, please give me the towel,” “Julian, please sit down and put on your shoes,” etc. Julian likes noodles, congee, steamed bread, and various kinds of fruits, such as bananas, apples, mandarins, grapes, etc.
Julian’s file states that he can stand while holding objects like tables or peoples clothing. His file also says he likes to play with balls and his favorite game is hide and seek. He likes it when his caregiver puts a towel on his head and plays peek a boo, he smiles and giggles happily. Julian’s favorite food is noodles.
She communicates with her gorgeous eyes and through gestures and actions. When people greet her, Journey smiles happily. Journey is an affectionate little girl. For a period of time, she would go down one set of stairs to the office on the second floor when the caretaker was not looking. She would appear suddenly behind one of the workers there and pat the worker. That worker would sometimes then go visit her activity room and Journey would come forward immediately and hug the worker tightly. Her hugs are said to be so tight they are like bear hugs. We can’t wait to see what lucky family is going to be blessed to not only have this little girl in their home and family, but to see those smiles and receive those bear hugs every day!
Caregivers describe Jude as a lively and lovely boy who is full of giggles. They say that he has very expressive eyes. With his eyes, Jude can show happiness, distress, fear and anger.
$5000 is available as a grant from Jojo’s current adoption agency.
In a 2019 update it was reported that he helps with simple daily work such as sweeping, cleaning tables and folding laundry. He can count, speaks in short sentences and understands instructions. He still enjoys playing with blocks, is able to play on his own and uses crayons to draw pictures. Johnny enjoys interacting with others, playing outside, completing crafts and hugging his caretakers.
A specific agency has a grant to cover all of Johnny’s placing agency adoption fees.
