Samantha likes to “look pretty” (there goes the clothes budget), and loves to imitate singing and dancing on the TV. This precious little one is waiting for a family of her own!

Update available from Jan 2019!

Handsome Ryland is diagnosed as having Congenital Heart Defect (CHD): transposition of the single atrium, single ventricle and great arteries with moderate stenosis of pulmonary artery.

UPDATE: During the last 6 months, Ryan has developed so well that he looks like a big brother. His speech ability is so well that he can communicate with others freely. He is happy to interact with the visitors in the orphanage, saying hello and taking part in the activities together. He is more mature and sensible than other kids, caring for other younger kids and giving a hand to his caretakers.

This part of his file was too sweet not to include: Ryland has been living in the welfare institute since he was young. He regards the welfare institute as his home. There is the common mom in the institute, as well as caretakers and children who are like brothers and sisters to him. The institute is like a big family- everyone lives together and studies happily. He does feel lonely here. If one day he is adopted, he will miss the kids and caretakers here. He will visit them if he has chance. Returning home is his dream. He is looking forward to his own dad and mom. If he can be adopted by foreigners, he will be very happy. He would like to be adopted. Ryland sounds like an amazing child! We are looking forward to what his update has to say about him and hope to find him a family who can expedite his adoption and get him home soon!

The agency which currently has Ryland’s file has a $5,000 grant available for his adoption.

Sadie is a delightful and bubbly little girl at 5 years old! Her photos & info are outdated. She came to the orphanage as a baby, and was found to have a cleft lip and palate, as well as a vision impairment. Sadie had her cleft lip repaired in 2011, but we are unsure if her palate has been repaired. Part of her file suggests it has, but there are no surgery reports for a palate repair. Sadie is a doll…the nannies all love her! She loves to play on the slide with the other kids, and ride the rocking horse. Sadie’s fine motor skills are good, however, at 3 years old she was not walking unassisted. She was crawling at that time. Sadie is a lovable and active little girl who needs a family to help her reach her full potential!

Ryder is described as sunny, outgoing, and smiley. His videos from 2019 show him walking while holding onto something for support. Ryder knows when someone is calling his name, he can recognize people he knows, and he enjoys listening to music and playing outdoors. From a March 2019 update in his file: Ryder can stand with the support of an object, but he cannot stand by himself. He is learning to talk and can make “ba ba” sounds, but doesn’t make other sounds very well. His hearing has not been tested. He can hear people calling him. If someone calls his name from behind him, he knows to turn his head and look back.

At one time, Rylan was living with a foster family, but he is currently back in the orphanage. A volunteer who has met and spent time with Rylan multiple times said: “As soon as I arrive, he runs up to me and starts shouting with joy. He loves to be close to me and snuggle. Rylan is a very fun an active boy. He understands everything you say to him. He plays very well with toys and has great motor skills. He can do all movements and plays well. Rylan can walk well and eats by himself. I have seen him interact with other kids and play with them.” We know there has to be a family out there for this sweet snuggle bunny!

Rupert is blind and participates in a program that provides high quality care and education for orphans who are blind or visually impaired. Every child has an individual education plan and the goal is to allow them to be independent and live life to the fullest. Rupert is a lovely little boy who has autistic tendencies and learning needs. He is in a primary school class for children with special needs where he gets lots of one-on-one time with his teachers and he has speech therapy classes where he has been making incredible progress. Rupert is a very active little boy who loves exploring his environment. Like most children, he can turn anything into a toy! He really enjoys meeting new people, and will often grab the hand of a visitor and twirl around, or pull an adult to the floor so he can climb all over them. He loves to be tickled and cuddled. He is also a good dancer and gets really excited whenever his Ayi puts on music. His little legs and feet move to the rhythm! Rupert prefers one on one contact, and has a hard time sitting still for activities. He is very active and prefers to run around and play. He enjoys being snuggled at night and read a children’s story before he goes to sleep. Rupert has a beautiful smile with adorable, mischievous dimples. Rupert’s current agency is offering a $5000 grant towards his adoption! He was recently recalled to his orphanage, so everyone would like him to find his family!

Ruthie is lively, lovely and restless who loves laughing and crawling everywhere. She can grasp the toy trolley and push it forward and also turn to look at nanny from time to time, because she wants to know if she is being watched; if the nanny is looking at her, she will raise her hands very happily and make a bye gesture or push the toy trolley more quickly; sometimes, she would fall down, but as soon as the nanny hugs her and comforts her, she would laugh immediately. She likes listening to music, and she can imitate the actions of clapping hands, shaking head and also will laugh whenever hearing the familiar children’s song. She cannot sit down for a long time, and she likes climbing onto the table top. Every time, when the nanny puts her onto the chair, she would climb onto the table top while the nanny is not looking at her and giggles to express that she has climbed onto and show her great ability.

Ryan is a sweet, shy little boy. He was abandoned outside a hospital when he was about 12 months old. Shortly after coming into orphanage care, he had surgery for a meningocele and also had a shunt placed to decrease the pressure in his head caused by hydrocephalus. The procedures were successful and he has recovered well. Ryan has good bowel and bladder control and his latest medical report says he’s healthy now.

We visited Ryan in his orphanage in late June and were taken in by his shy smile. He enjoyed playing with our iPad. Ryan demonstrated his excellent walking and running, and sang us a song. His video will melt your heart.

Ryan lives with a foster family. He sleeps with his foster mother and is very attached to her. Ryan is described as introverted and not very talkative. His motor and speech development are a bit delayed.

Could Ryan be the son you’ve been searching for?

He likes to giggle when he is playing or when he is happy. Rubin is described as active and lovely. He loves to cuddle and snuggle with his caretakers. Rory is a handsome, engaging, and active boy who is 3 years old. He came to the orphanage at around 6 months old, and they discovered he had already received surgery for a meningocele, and had a shunt placed for his hydrocephalus. Rory was able to sit unassisted, and before long was crawling. He is having casting procedures to correct his club foot, so he is temporarily using a wheelchair. You can see in his video that being sidelined from the action is almost more than he can stand! Rory has undescended testicles, which need to be corrected as soon as possible. His shunt has been trouble-free. Rory (without the cast) is able to stand with assistance, but is unable to walk at this time. He is incontinent. Rory has no cognitive delays, is a bright and social boy. Before his recent cast, he would get around by crawling and moving with his knees in a kneeling position. Physical therapy would be so beneficial for Rory! He needs a family! Video is available from the agency.

It can also be hard for her to talk with her cleft lip and palate. Rose loves when her caretakers go outside with her, and she loves when they call her name. Rose laughs and smiles at people when they talk to her, and especially when they play bells. She can roll over, hold her own toys, and hold her head up like a champ!

Ronan is a clever boy and has everyone wrapped around his little finger! He enjoys his mealtimes. He is a boy who knows exactly what he wants and is not afraid to let his caregivers know if he doesn’t like a particular food or texture. He cannot form words yet but is making plenty of sounds. He loves being the center of attention and will cry if his caregivers too far away, indicating he wants to be picked up! They are more than happy to oblige and he spends most of the day cuddled in someone’s arms. Ronan is not crawling yet, but he attends regular physiotherapy sessions to improve his muscle strength and coordination. However, if Ronan does not want to do his exercises, he will kick his legs and scream until his caregivers pick him up. This is something we are working on with him though, as his caregivers know that he needs to do his exercises to improve his tone. We are working on rewarding his therapy efforts with his favorite music and songs. Ronan loves all types of music and will not go asleep without listening to his favorite lullabies. Although he is developmentally delayed, he continues to make good progress and we feel he would thrive with a forever family.

Would you look at the smile on this little guy? Ronen is such a happy kiddo! When you talk with Ronen’s nannies about him, they cannot help but boast about how much progress he has made! They say his learning abilities in particular have made astonishing progress! When he gets back from school he will immediately grab a book off the bookshelf and sit quietly to look at it. He is full of curiosity and is fascinated by everything he sees!

Ronen has made great progress with his motor abilities, too. He can walk alone steadily and run, and he is learning to feed himself (though he still needs a little help with that!) In terms of his language ability, Ronen’s nannies believe he has a strong desire to speak. He cannot say any words yet, but he will imitate the shape of the nanny’s mouth when she speaks. He can understand most of what is said to him and can follow instructions. Ronen gets a cold from time to time, but his general health is very good. He has not been found to have a heart condition. Could you be Ronen’s forever family?

Several additional photos & videos available!

Ronen has a $1500 grant available from the agency who currently holds his file.

Romeo is an energetic, outgoing little boy. He was abandoned approximately a year after he was born and was diagnosed with Down syndrome upon admission to the orphanage. When he was about a year old, he was not able to walk and slowly adjusted to his new environment. He cried less often as he became more familiar with his caregivers. Our most recent update from April, 2015 indicates that he can crawl around, stand with assistance, and even walk around in a walker! Caregivers have reported that he can sometimes be naughty and walk around in his walker to open cabinets and pull out clothes. He can understand what adults say to him, respond to simple requests asking for objects, and wave goodbye. He can now say “mom” and his caregivers are continuing to improve his speech. He loves to play with his toys, listen to music, and play with other children. His favorite game is hide and seek! His motor abilities continue to improve to where he is able to pick up small objects with his hands and hold a pen to scribble. He sleeps well at night and has a good appetite.

From his current agency: There is a $4000 grant available to families who qualify to assist with the cost of this adoption. In addition, the application fee and pre-approval deposit have been waived for this child.

Robinson is diagnosed with down syndrome. His file reports that he does go to a kindergarten- likely in the orphanage. If he doesn’t go to school, his foster mom takes him out to eat breakfast, where he will eat noodles and steamed stuffed buns. If the weather is nice, he plays in the yard. He takes a two hour nap each day. After he wakes up, he watches cartoons or will play with other children in the yard. He then eats dinner and some fruit after that. He has deep sleep. His foster mom watches his facial expressions to determine if he needs to use the bathroom. She then asks him if he needs to go. If he says yes, she will take him to the toilet. He can take his pants off by himself, but needs help putting his pants back on. Now that he goes to school, his language is better than before. He has good imitating ability. Every morning he sings children’s songs he learned at kindergarten. He can put on and take off clothes with help, can go up and down stairs by himself; and he can eat without help (though he eats slowly since he can easily spill). He likes to smile at acquaintances. Sometimes he will call mama or nana and then continue to do his things. if you ask him to share his food, he will feed you and smile at you. Neighbors always say he is a quiet boy who has a ready smile. During summer vacation, his foster mom often takes him outside to let him experience more fresh things and to see and learn new things.

He has a contagious laugh when he is happy! Robinson takes a mid-day nap every day from 11:30 to 1:30 and is said to be a sound sleeper. It isn’t hard to get Robinson to sleep but, if you pat his back lightly, he will fall asleep right away. He uses diapers at night. Rigby is a precious little one who is 22 months old. He came into care when he was about 10 months old…wheezing, and in need of help. After some TLC from the nannies, there was improvement in his health and motor skills. He was still behind his peers, but had become a very engaging and social baby. At 17 months of age, Rigby could roll over, sit with some support, and play with toys. Rigby was not able to crawl or walk at that time. He loves to be around the other kids. The more action, the better! The nannies have noticed he has high muscular tension and uncoordinated movements. There was no formal diagnosis made in his file which had resulted from a thorough exam. Rigby is an active, loving, happy little guy who really needs a family and some good therapy to help him with his gross motor skills. He needs to come home.

Riley is an active, and incredibly adorable, little boy who is 3 years old! He came into care when he was about 8 months old. He was already crawling, and standing with support. Riley received surgery for a tethered cord in May of 2013. After his successful surgery, when they removed his catheter, they found there was an apparent urethral injury. They performed a cystostomy (a surgically created connection between the urinary bladder and the skin which is used to drain urine from the bladder in individuals with obstruction of normal urinary flow). Riley recovered well, and was returned to his foster family. He is a smart little guy who is very social. His fine motor skills and speech are on target. Riley is attached to his foster dad, and loves to play with the other children in the foster home. Riley needs a family of his own!

OCTOBER 2017 UPDATE: Percy is a very bright and cheerful boy. He has an adventurous personality, is eager to try new things, and has an open disposition that is friendly, but not inappropriately so. He is not afraid of foreigners from overseas and was immediately interested in learning English with American volunteers in school and was one of the first to master the alphabet song. He has a good ear for language and has soaked up everything he can learn in English and he retains it (colors, shapes, animals, clothing, parts of the body, etc.). He has a great sense of humor, loves to laugh, and gives a loud “Good Morning!” and hard high five whenever he sees his English teachers. He has learned to read some characters in his native language, knows his numbers, has started basic math and knows many songs and dances from school. Percy lives with an attentive foster family who would love to see him adopted as they know that he needs medical treatment from pediatric specialists. He interacts appropriately with peers, is silly and fun with his little friends, but not unkind.

An update from 2016: Rhiannon is a quiet, tiny girl, who appears quite small for her age, and very thin. She has a heart condition, which she has not had surgery for. The nannies say she eats a normal amount, so they are not sure why she’s so thin. When agency staff visited in April 2016, she sat up very stably and was alert, frequently nodding her head and rocking. Caregivers say she doesn’t often reach for toys, but she will react when the nannies make faces or tickle her. She can stand up with support from her nanny under her hands. In the baby walker she can move around very quickly! She will scoot around on her bottom as well to get around, but doesn’t crawl yet. So far she’s not babbling, just making sounds. She does turn to sounds as well.

Remi could be home before his 2nd birthday and we pray he is!

She cannot pick up tiny things yet. Rae doesn’t have any schooling, and isn’t particularly attached to a caregivers. She’s begun to utter one syllable sounds. Her file says she likes to play hide and seek — I bet she’s adorable playing “Peek a boo”! Please help this tiny girl find her family, where she’ll be loved and treasured for exactly who she is.

Precious Rae has the most expressive faces! Rae was born with Down syndrome and a congenital heart defect- ASD. She was reported to have developmental delays commonly seen with children with Down syndrome, but she has been diligently working to meet milestones. Rae’s caregivers say that she is calm and easy-going. At the time her file was prepared, she loved when her caregivers would give her a massage and when they would hold her and talk to her. When the nanny would tell her stories, she would quietly listen and when the nanny would call on her, she would look at the nanny. Little Rae desperately needs an update and we’re hoping one will come for her soon!

When he see his foster uncle, he will ask him for hug and kiss him! When the uncle takes him to play outdoors, he yells “yiya” happily. Quintin is afraid of strangers. If a stranger hugs him, he will cry loudly if he doesn’t see his foster mother or uncle right away.

Quintin’s file was prepared when he was one year and nine months of age. At that time, he could walk while holding onto an adult’s hand and could even take a few steps without holding on. He was saying one or two words at that time, such as “baba” or “ajie.” Quintin could be naughty at times. He liked throwing things, especially if it was something he didn’t know how to play with. He can understand adult’s simple instructions. His foster family was working on potty training him. They describe Quintin as sunny, busy, and smiley and say that he loves outdoor activities.

Ping is a sweet little boy, with epidermolysis bullosa (EB) and CHD-ASD. Ping was sent to a special home when he was only a few weeks old because he needed nursing care for his skin, extra nutrition, and heart surgery. Ping has had surgery for his heart, but still needs lots of special care for his skin. His skin is easily damaged from ordinary things, like seams on clothing, scratching an itch, and by doing things like rolling over, sitting up, or crawling. During the summer of 2019, Ping started to eat food orally. His nannies are so proud of the progress he’s made! He can sit up independently and loves singing time!

We sure hope Ping’s family finds him and can get him home while he’s still so young!

Meet Penny! She is a lovable and charming little girl who is 3 years old. Penny came into care when she was about 6 months old. After a few months at the orphanage, she was placed with a foster family, where she has blossomed!

Penny was born with Down syndrome. She has an ASD, which as of her report in 2017, had required no treatment. Penny has the typical delays seen with Down syndrome, but has accomplished a lot since joining her foster family. She is especially close to her older foster brother, and waits impatiently for him to come home from school. Sadly, even an excellent foster family is not a permanent solution for an orphan. Penelope needs a family who will become hers forever. This sweet little one is waiting!

Update Oct 2019: Physical and intellectual aspects: Peeta has Down syndrome with good health and normal limbs that can move freely. He cannot eat large or hard food, but soft and chopped food. His physical strength is not good, since he tends to be fatigued after he completes some sports. His fine motor skills and cognition are poor, since he cannot recognize those daily necessities. In November of 2018, he was sent to the hospital for disability assessment and was assessed as Grade II intellectual disability.

His speech is so so, since he cannot speak yet, but he has a tendency to speak and utters relatively clear single tones, such as yi, yeh, ah. His self-care ability is so so. He eats with a small spoon and drinks water with a cup. He needs assistance in the shower, going to the toilet, and putting on clothes. In class, he is active and highly motivated, but his attention is not focused and sometimes he is out of control and runs out of his seat without approval and does not listen to the teacher’s instructions. He prefers music, dance, and games, but is not enthusiastic in physical education class, since he is easy to tire and weak in playing sports. He does well in self-training class- basically follows the teacher’s instructions to complete the training. His teachers and classmates all like him a lot, due to his active and outgoing personality and his big smile that he wears all the time. He never fights with others.

Paulie doesn’t talk yet, but is headed in that direction. He makes recognizable sounds to communicate. These include clicking his tongue to show happiness. This is a new sound of self-expression to communicate and we are excited because it is an effort he makes towards speech! He does not speak words at this time, but he is using more vocal sounds to express joy or unhappiness. Paulie’s fine motor skills are satisfactory. He enjoys playing with toys that hang on strings or toys that can dangle. Paulie has Down Syndrome but he is working hard to be all that he can be. That adorable round head, those precious chubby cheeks, and those beautiful eyes- who can resist this cutie pie? Otto’s caregivers say that he likes to make faces, like sticking out his tongue and making pouty faces at them. Otto loves music and will respond differently when listening to it; sometimes he will be very calm and sometimes he will wave his hands and feet and make happy faces. Otto was pretty well on target developmentally his first year of life- able to raise his head when lying on his stomach, roll over, make cute sounds, visually follow a moving object, and turn in the direction of sounds. His favorite toys are colorful ones that make sound and he is able to reach out and grasp a nearby toy. His caregivers report that he has a good appetite. Otto was born with down syndrome and his placing agency has received new pictures and a nice long video. We can’t wait to see what lucky family will be blessed to call Otto their son!
