Lars is diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Remember…CP is not degenerative- it does not get worse and therapy can be very helpful! Lars began rehabilitation treatment at the age of 9 months. At age 3, he was able to stand alone and walk without help, though his left heel did not touch the ground and his left upper limb is affected as well. He recently started preschool in the center and his self-awareness has increased. He can hold a spoon to eat, can wave goodbye to people, and recognizes familiar people and objects. Lars’ language ability was poor, so he started speech training to practice his pronunciation. Now he has good comprehension, can speak simple words, but he cannot talk clearly. His expressive language is not very good and he has difficulty with fine motor skills. Lars is outgoing and has a ready smile. He likes familiar people and enjoys cuddling. He likes soft music and enjoys the music lessons at school. Lars likes taking walks outside and playing with balls on the playground.
