This little cub is Shane!  He has an update from May of 2018, when he was 14 months old:  Shane is a cute, strong and chubby boy. He can stretch out tongue, has less saliva, can roll over at 360 degrees from supine to prone position and from prone to supine position, and can prop to sit forward with hands. When he is lying on the mat at prone position, he can prop to raise head and chest with both hands, could move his head and neck freely, could prop with single elbow, pick up the toy before him with the other one and put into his mouth to bite. When he is lying on the mat at supine position, he can watch his hands before his eyes, and can hold both feet and wave. He can grasp and wave the toy when it is passed to him. He can hold one toy in each hand, exchange the toy from one hand to the other one, and put the toy into his mouth and bite. When he is held erectly, he can move his head and neck freely, can track moving toys with his head and eyes. He is comfortable when he is sitting against the caretaker or in the children’s chair. When the toy is dropped, he can look over. He likes interaction with the caretaker. When playing hide and seek, he can remove the towel if put it on his face. When the caretaker blows to his brows, he can close his month and narrow his eyes in a line. The caretaker often pulls his hand to pat or puts his hand on his month to beat WOW. After stopping for a while, he could stretch out hands to pat or beat WOW. The caretaker often lets him lie on the bucky ball to practice his waist muscle as the bucky ball turns back and forth. He knows his name a little. The caretaker calls his name, he stops a while and looks over, responds “a” once sometimes. When the caretaker’s voice is serious, he cries. When the caretaker teases him softly, he laughs happily. He does not reject the stranger to hold him. The caretaker often takes him to enjoy the sunshine and breathe the fresh air in the garden when it is sunny. He has a good appetite, can eat steamed egg, fruit puree, little steamed buns and nutritious congee, etc.

Down syndrome, hearing loss

Kase is a sweet little boy.  A hearing test showed a 80dB threshold of the left ear and a 90dB threshold of the right ear. Kase is also listed as having motor delays. Kase loves to smile at his nanny when he is happy and interact with people. When the nanny makes eye contact with him, Kase gives a shy smile. He can hold his own bottle and will cry loudly if someone takes it away and he’s not done or if he is still hungry, as if to say ‘I want more milk!’ Kase likes taking baths. He finds it quite fun to slap the water and is happy as can be playing in the bath. Kase likes shaking the toy rattles. It always makes him smile. Listening to light music and drinking a warm drink help him to fall asleep. Everyone adores Kase and hopes that he will find his forever family soon, while he is still young!

Kase has a $3,500 agency grant for his adoption with his current adoption agency.

Update:  Gross Motor Skills: He can stand steadily and kick balls. He can walk backwards.  Fine Motor Skills: He can turn through books with his thumb and index finger and draw straight lines with a pencil.  Cognitive abilities: He can recognize his shoes, looks at books, study pictures and balls, etc. Social Skills: He likes to play with other kids, but sometimes he doesn’t want to be under supervision and doesn’t follow instructions. He expresses himself with different facial expressions, such as cry, laughter, sadness, etc.

Speech Skills: He can understand simple instructions by gestures and speech. For example, “Juilan, come and have meals,” “Julian, come to drink some water,” “Julian, please give me the towel,” “Julian, please sit down and put on your shoes,” etc.  Julian likes noodles, congee, steamed bread, and various kinds of fruits, such as bananas, apples, mandarins, grapes, etc.

Julian’s file states that he can stand while holding objects like tables or peoples clothing.  His file also says he likes to play with balls and his favorite game is hide and seek. He likes it when his caregiver puts a towel on his head and plays peek a boo, he smiles and giggles happily. Julian’s favorite food is noodles.

Julian’s current adoption agency has a $2500 grant for his adoption.

Down syndrome, congenital heart defect – PFO

Jim is a precious little boy with the best smile!  He has been hospitalized for pneumonia and a femoral fracture in the past. Jimmy’s motor development is delayed. As of October of 2018, he could not sit, crawl, or walk independently. He does like to roll over and play with his hands and feet. Jim cannot speak, but knows how to get the attention of his caregiver. He loves to cuddle and tease with his caregiver. Jim is cared for in the infant area with six other children his age. He gets up at 6:00, drinks a bottle of formula at 6:30, drinks water at 9:30, drinks another bottle of formula at 11:00, naps from 12:00-14:00, drinks water at 14:10, takes a bath at 15:00, drinks another bottle of formula at 18:30, and goes to bed at 19:30. He takes a tub bath 3 times every week in spring and autumn, twice per week in the winter, and once per day in the summer. Jimmy loves playing with baby toys and spending time outdoors in the sunshine. Jimmy really needs a family that can pour love into him and help him get the resources he needs to continue to develop.

Livi is a cuddler!

Livi is a smiley little girl who is loves people. She is quick to grab her caregiver’s attention with her big smiles and happy babbles. Livi was born with Down syndrome and is typical for her need, is delayed in all areas of her development. Otherwise, she has enjoyed good health. Livi loves to play peek-a-boo and enjoys stroller trips outside. At 1 ½ years, Livi can sit confidently, roll easily, and grabs toys. The agency has requested an update and look forward to see what this little charmer has been up to recently.

Families may qualify for a $5,000 subsidy through the adoption agency who currently has her file.

Remi is the cutest little guy, born in June of 2017 with down syndrome and a congenital heart defect- PFO. At the time his file was prepared, he had motor delays. He slept a lot and was said to be very mild-mannered. He loves colorful toys and being held by his caretaker. His caretaker loves how precious he looks when he falls asleep in her arms. Remi could be home before his 2nd birthday and we pray he is!

His foster mother will do some PT for him each day. He can move around on the mattress by himself. He will crawl to you if you shake the rattle to attract him. He will try hard to reach it. He can roll over well. He can hold a bottle to feed himself; he eats well. He can grab things well. He can take off his socks quickly.

Mental: He has down syndrome so his mental ability is behind normal kids. He likes music and will dance when he hears music.

There’s a $2000 grant available for Maya’s adoption with her current agency.

It’s not every day we see babies this young made available for adoption! Luca is blessed to have a file and it is our hope that his family will see him soon so he can get home while he’s still quite young. Precious Luca loves his bottle of milk, napping, and being held by his caregivers. Luca can track objects or toys and loves to lay on his bed and kick his feet. Like most babies, he also enjoys sucking on his fingers.
