They have two amazing children Anna (almost 6) and Oliver (almost 2). They have always talked about having a large family and those talks have always included adoption. As a teenager, Danielle went on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic where she stayed at an orphanage. This was life changing and from that point on she always knew she would adopt. Her main goal in life has always been to be a mom. TJ enjoys working with the youth and is pursuing ministry full time. They are a homeschooling family and love being a part of their children’s everyday life. They know God has given them these desires for more than one purpose.

After their daughter was born they began looking into adoption. They prayed many prayers, sponsored children, made sock dolls to send to special needs children and waited for God to open the door. God began to open their eyes and break their hearts for children with special needs. Something they thought was impossible became something they wanted to pursue with all their hearts. One of the first children to cross their path was “Keegan”. They prayed for him and figured their journey would start at a much later date. When they found out his baby house was closing they knew that nudge they had felt earlier was now definite. This was the child they were supposed to bring home. They spent the day in tears praying. The prayers went from praying someone would come along to praying they were that someone. They know there is a lot of work ahead and they are trusting God to help bring their little one home. They ask that you pray for this sweet child and their journey ahead.

They always thought they would have their own children, when and if it was God’s will. But so far it has not happened…yet! They have been blessed with 4 legged furry kids, horses, dairy goats, dogs and cats,…but are still waiting for a 2 legged non furry kid or kids. :) After thinking maybe it was not in God’s plan for them to be parents, a phone call from one of Keri’s brothers in Nov. 2011 changed all that. Her brother told her that the baby he and his wife were expecting in the Spring might have Down Syndrome. Long story short…they would not be able to keep the baby…was this how God planned for them to finally become parents?! Keri told her brother they would adopt the baby in a heartbeat. Keri works in health care and Brian and Keri help care for a family friends child with special needs. This beautiful child with CP has been a blessing to them and really helped take away many of their fears and softened their hearts to a special needs child. Then began the research on Down Sydrome. Through research Keri came upon Reece’s Rainbows website, wow look at all these beautiful sweet children that need homes…how would you ever choose? Brian and Keri were still thinking that maybe they would be adopting her brothers baby. After much prayer time another phone call came, God’s answer was no. Keri’s brother and sister-in-law would be keeping the baby whatever the health of the baby, praise God! But ouch…will they ever be parents?!

Keri then returned to a list of Reece’s Rainbow kids, one child over and over again kept standing out among the others. After a lot of time in prayer, digging into God’s word and with many family, friends and their church praying for them. The answer and peace of what God was calling them to do became clear… sweet Meredith was to be their daughter! Wow, Praise the Lord! Even though there are still many answers unknown and concerns about finances. They continue to trust their Heavenly Father through this unknown journey and have faith that His will and timing is always perfect. As He has shown them many times through their 14+ years of marriage.

God is Good! Praying for Meredith’s health and safety!

They met while Mark and Jodi’s brother were serving a mission in England for their church. Jodi’s brother told Mark to start writing his sister while at the same time he had told Jodi to start writing his companion. They exchanged a few letters and in January of 1994 they were able to meet face to face. Jodi and her family went to England to pick up her brother when he completed his mission and they met Mark for lunch. It was fun for them to meet who they had been writing to. Mark still had 6 months left to serve and that following summer he came to Utah and stayed with Jodi’s family for approximately 6 weeks. It was during that time that their romance began. Almost a year and half later Jodi took a leave of absence from work and went to England to stay with Mark and his family. There was no denying that they were meant to be together so just before Jodi got on the plane to go home Mark unofficially proposed. A few weeks later they got engaged over the phone. They set a date and were married in Utah, 2 days after Mark arrived. They lived in England during their first year of marriage while Mark finished school. Then moved to Utah and have resided here since. They have 4 beautiful children ages 11, 5, 3 and 18 months. They were led to their youngest by becoming foster parents. All of their children have brought so much joy into their lives. They enjoy many activities like playing soccer, dancing, singing, going on walks and bike rides. They are surrounded by family and friends and love spending time with them and each other. Family is everything and is what this life is all about. Once again they are being led to adopt Susan so she can enjoy the blessings of a family. Quoting one of Jodi’s favorite songs, “I’ve heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason, bringing something we must learn. We are led to those who help us most to grow if we let them and we help them in return.” There is no such thing as coincidence. Jodi and Mark feel that they are being led by His love. Please join them on this journey and offer any support you can whether it be through your prayers or time or financial support. All are needed and will be greatly appreciated.
