Lili

Girl, born 2006
PRC
Down syndrome

Lili is such a sweet-hearted girl. She almost always has a smile on her face and gets along well with the other children in her orphanage! Her nannies say she is such a great helper – she is happy to help distribute snacks or help the nanny clean up. She also loves music, and will sing and dance along to her favorite songs.

Lili can run and jump with ease, and she is able to handle many self-care tasks on her own (with a small reminder from her nanny). She can express her needs verbally and is learning how to write simple Chinese characters.

Lili is an amazing girl with so much potential!

Very friendly, shying boy, not talkative, but smart.

I600 a must be filed by July 2018; otherwise he will no longer be available for adoption!

It’s hard to say if he really wants to be adopted. I guess he has lots of fear before unknown country, people and culture.

But if he likes the people I believe he would be a good match to active family

An I600a must be filed by February 2018; otherwise she will age out and be unavailable for adoption.

It is hard to say if she wants to be adopted. Now she is close to age out and perhaps anybody could try to melt her fear. She is a very good girl with a good potential. She likes to dance in her wheel-chair, she participates in competitions. She is very active and a sports girl. She could participate in para-Olympic games.

I highly recommend her to a family living close to different activities to give her a chance to go in for sports.

Perry

Boy, born 2005
PRC
Cerebral Palsy

Perry is a handsome and sweet recently turned 12-year-old boy who is full of smiles and so very ready to have a family of his own! Perry participated in an Ambassadors of Hope camp in the fall of 2015. He was the oldest of all the kids in his group, at just ten. Perry draws well and is a good-natured boy who follows directions and shares with others. His volunteer at that camp stated: “At first glance, he seemed to have so much going against him that he could have been forgiven for feeling defeated; instead, Perry smiled easily and stayed positive despite the cerebral palsy which put him in a wheelchair, and left him in an orphanage.” There is a terrific blog post about Perry that really shows just how special this sweet boy is. Please help us spread the word about Perry!

Perry’s special need is cerebral palsy. He is fully continent, but he does not walk. He uses a wheelchair to get around. Perry needs a family who will see past the wheelchair and see the amazing child that he is and the terrific son they could be missing out on!

Many videos available.

There is an agency which will waive their adoption fees (equivalent of an $8000 grant).

Victor

Boy, born 2007
PRC
Cognitive Delays, Speech Delay, Albinism

Victor was briefly in a program at a home for children who are blind.  He came to the home “pretty broken” and has been sent back to his orphanage. He hadn’t been at the home too long, but progressed, blossomed, and was loved there.

A special family is needed to adopt him quickly so he will not lose that feeling of love and all of his progress. Praying for his family to see him today. He likes to dance, and he likes to find leaves and sticks.

February 2017 update (from the home):
“Victor is still waiting for a family. He has grown very close to his teacher. In the morning the caregivers drop the kids off at school and they walk on their own and wait for their teachers in the classroom. Victor insists every day on waiting for his teacher at the door. He smiles and holds her hand when she comes and they walk upstairs together. He follows her everywhere and she is able to cheer him up if he is having a hard time. It’s been amazing to see their relationship grow but he needs a permanent family to continue encouraging him to grow”

Sean

Listed prior to 2010

Updated photo from 2016!

Update from 2016:  He is easy going, cannot walk without assistance, understands simple instructions, affectionate, and doesn’t interact with children much because he isn’t moving around.

From a missionary who visited with him in August 2010:  “Sean was found abandoned by the riverside at the age of 4 months.  Sean is doing super and is well loved by his nannies!” Update from 2012: After his rehabilitation we feel his physical development is very good, he can clearly call father and mother, can sit alone, stand alone, can walk with holding something. He can not walk alone steadily, can feed himself snacks without help, good appetite, likes playing with other children sitting on the floor, occasionally he will challenge his favorite toys with other children. He is very favorable, and we hope him can find a family sooner to have parents to love him to live happier life.

More photos available, along with full social history and medical records Single moms permitted, only one parent has to travel.

From a family who met him in June 2014:

This calm little guy came up to me with pleading eyes for attention and is just so polite. God has heard his prayers, and now he is listed for adoption! He is not overbearing or competitive at all. Rather, he is observant and inquisitive. He is about the size of a six year-old and just so gentle. I would take him home in a heartbeat if he was available before. He takes turns riding the red wagon around the orphanage grounds as the bigger boys pull him, and he gestures politely for fresh fruit when he sees it is available. He is kind to other children. He says a few words in his native language, and listened carefully when I was giving descriptions of my family photos. I have confidence that he would do wonderfully in any kind of family, and it is obvious– he can surely reciprocate love! He enjoyed throwing balls, going on walks, playing see-saw, and listening to English descriptions. Whoever adopts this little love will be so blessed to call him a beloved son.

Lynda

30815195533Guardian AngelGirl, born Dec 2008
Hydrocephalus, Severe mental delays

Listed: August 2013

She is a very sweet and kind girl and extremely needs a family.  She will be 5 this December, so any new family may commit to her and start preparing a dossier.

She has siblings, but none are available for adoption; 2 older sisters live with birth mother and 1 younger sister has been adopted.

From a family who met her in summer 2013:
She was in my kids’ groupa.  She is the sweetest little thing and needs out of there ASAP!!!  She has the most noble quiet nature about her.  She is mentally delayed but has so much potential.  She was one of the least favored children in the orphanage and she is desperate for love.  On one occasion she wandered over to the play shelter where we were playing and was trying to eat our daughter’s cookie.  We didn’t have any extra (we brought treats for the groupa every three days or so) so my husband just picked her up to distract her and as soon as he did, she threw her arms around his neck and rested her head on his shoulder just soaking in the attention.  I can’t bear the thought of her being transferred!  She already has it bad enough.

$6,434.75 has been donated towards the cost of my adoption!

Your gift will serve ALL of the children, as 10% of each Waiting Child Donation is shared with our Voice of Hope fund, as well!

Lily

Girl, age 12
Cerebral pasly, HIV

Known as Lily by her committed orphanage volunteers, she recently had a big celebration for her 12th birthday. Lily is described as a caretaker with a bright, warm and joy filled personality. She loves to wear new dresses and new shoes, play with baby dolls, read books, color, laugh, give hugs and dance. She works with a gait trainer to walk for her cerebral palsy, but it’s noted that she has a preference to run. With the trainer, she is able to kick a soccer ball and use a scooter standing up. She is able to speak, uses a communication program so she is able to share her thoughts and needs with others and has started to spell and read short phonetic words. Her volunteer notes that Lily has an understanding of what it means to have a forever family and has a strong desire to have this herself.

Why hasn’t anyone chosen her? Don’t they know how amazing she is? Can’t they see how much joy she would bring to their family? Can’t they see that she is so much more than her cerebral palsy? That she is smart, she loves to laugh, she is gentle, and loves going to church. Her cerebral palsy doesn’t define her. – Lily’s foster mother

Lily is diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy and HIV. She’s reported to be an eager learner and receives physical, speech and occupational therapies.

Eligible families may qualify for a grant through her current agency in addition to a $5,000 Child Specific Grant (exp 7/31/17).

Sensitive special need

Listed: June 2017

Luke has a sensitive special need – XY46. He’s in a very poor orphanage, where adoptive families have met him.   Luke is in a very under resourced orphanage in rural China where he is not able to attend school, lacks proper nutrition, and the opportunity to play with even basic toys.

Luke is a charming boy who has a close relationship with his caregivers and is known around the orphanage for his helpfulness. He is attentive when the little ones cry, and runs errands for his caregivers when they need an extra hand. Luke likes to play games with others, especially ball games. Luke is active and extroverted. His favorite meal is egg and pork!

Luke’s development is fully age-appropriate. He will need a family who understands the complexities of his medical need and can offer him the unconditional love and support he needs to flourish. Nora

Girl, born 2006
PRC
Down syndrome, Congenital heart disease (repaired)

Listed: April 2017

Nora is an amazing little girl. She was hosted in the US in the summer of 2016 by a family who hoped to adopt her but were denied — They are willing to talk with anyone interested in knowing more about this precious child.

Nora is very independent and cognitively very able. She was able to confidently take care of all her needs. She has extremely long hair that she did not like to have to brush, but was willing to have it braided to have it out of her way. She spoke very clearly in her native languate and was able to communicate her needs to her host family. She ate well and was very healthy. She adored the younger children in the family and wanted to help in caring for them. She enjoyed having jobs to do with the other children in the home. She liked to play outside and go on trips but she also loved to look at picture books and draw in notebooks. She loves animals. Nora did tend to get fairly grumpy when given sugar – so it is best to limit her intake. At times she would shake her head no and cry if she did not want to do something (like go to bed) but always chose to comply when her host parents repeated their direction.

She was examined by a pediatrician, dentist, and ophthalmologist while in the US. The pediatrician said she was very healthy and well taken care of. She also said Nora’s heart sounded very healthy. Nora does not need glasses but does have a few cavities that will need some treatment once she is adopted.

Nora would do very well in a family – she loves being with people, especially children. She adored her host dad in particular but also loved to snuggle with her host mom and their children. She is very bright and curious. She wants to learn and explore. She is a treasure just waiting to be claimed.

Kelan #

Boy, born: 2004Diagnoses:  Grand Mal seizures; Epilepsy Partialis; brain edema; attachment disorder; Nocturnal Enuresis; learning abilities.

Listed: April 2017

Kelan is from Eastern Europe.  He was placed in a baby house shortly after birth and is currently residing in a group home for children.  Kelan’s attention is lacking.  He can concentrate on routine tasks for short periods of time. His memory is not accurate and his thinking process is slow.  Although his vocabulary needs improvement, he understands the meaning of the words used in everyday life.  He does not have good communication skills but he can express his emotions. He often violates the personal space of others. His self-evaluation of himself wavers as sometimes it is too high and other times it is too low. He cannot maintain friendships. He quickly loses interest in the learning process at school and doesn’t follow the rules.

Kelan is a happy and cheerful child!  He is very emotional. He wants to play with the other children but often teases them by taking their possessions and insults them which leads to conflicts. He insults the other children, throws things at them and uses bad words. After a while he calms down. He easily gets upset. Sometimes he overreacts by crying or laughing.  It is important for him to receive approval from adults (including the teachers at school) but does not always comply with requirements. He is affectionate and seeks care from adults. He is not shy and does not feel guilt. He likes to help with the household chores – cooks, cleans, irons. He participates in culinary clubs. He likes to play with the children from the group home. He also likes physical activities: soccer, volleyball, badminton, and riding bikes.

Kade 2014DOB: 2002
Diagnosis: Down syndrome, asthma

Listed: October 9, 2011

2014 UPDATE:  Kade was moved out of an institution and into a group home in 2014.  He is described as sensitive, with alert look, inquisitive, willful, contact and adaptive to the group. He is oriented in his immediate social environment and in the scheme of his own body. The fine motor skills are developed and all main motion skills have been mastered. He understands and carries out all commands and makes attempts to pronounce some words. He is very energetic with great desire for all kinds of motion games, and is well coordinated and purposeful. Kade feeds himself, dresses himself, and is completely toilet trained. His favorite activity is to listen to music and dance and he shows off on all festivities. His expressive and impressive speech is poor and he has limited vocabulary but he pronounces conscious syllables and words. He imitates objects from everyday life when they are mentioned. He likes to help to take care of the other children in the institution. He is interactive with the other children from the group. He can start playing with any toy. He draws by imitation within the limits of the paper. He likes to play with stuffed, musical and mechanic toys and he uses them according to their purpose. He can play for a long time with them.

Photos and videos from December 2014 are available through the agency.

Kade is currently living in a mental institution but is doing very well. He is attending school in the local village. His gross and fine motor skills are well developed. He colors inside the lines, feeds and dresses himself and is toilet trained. His expressive and receptive language is developed. He answers to his name, follows directions and repeats the names of objects. He participates in games and seeks out contact with other children. He enjoys playing with stuffed animals, musical toys and mechanical toys.

His play is appropriate. He is impulsive and will get upset if he doesn’t get his way. However, he is not aggressive toward himself nor toward other people.  He has a short attention span and will often give up easily when an activity is too hard and ask to do something else instead.  Kade is described as calm, inquisitive, headstrong, sensitive and communicative.

Update from Feb 2013: Kade is toilet trained, feeds and dresses himself, says some words, follows directions, and is not aggressive. He attends special education classes taught by teachers who come to the institution for instructional time. He is active and enjoys playing outside and staying busy. He enjoys the attention from the staff and will act silly to get them to pay attention to him. We have several current photos and a video of him. In the video, he is playing on playground equipment, following directions, joking around with staff and making funny faces at the camera and you can hear him say a few words too. He is living in a mental institution, but he is well cared for and doing quite well.

Down syndrome, mental delays, speech and language delays, behavior/attention issues. Hypothyroidism. Bronchial asthma. Astigmatism. Hypermetropia. The girl needs to wear glasses for distance.

Listed: Jan 10, 2017

Blossom resides in an out-of-family care institution since October 2003 — her mother placed her in the social care center, as she couldn’t provide care and therapy for her.  Her mother visited regularly, and took her home for short visits and out for walks.  Unfortunately, her mother died in early 2016.  Blossom has an older half-sister who visits, but is unable to care for her, so she did not take on her guardianship.

Blossom has greyish-blue eyes and light grey hair. She attends 6th grade at specialized boarding school (for children with significant mental delays). She is communicative, friendly and active, always wants to take a part in all activities. She likes music and dancing very much, she has learned to ride a bike, with pleasure attends music lessons, domestic science and sports. The girl gets dressed herself, has self-care skills. She has active speech disorders, the girl can’t concentrate on one exercise for a long time, gets bored quickly. She commands other children, sometimes hurts them. She needs constant surveillance and care round the clock.

Learning skills are encumbered due to communication and intellectual disorders.  The girl has language delay, speech of people around she comprehends partly – comprehends opening statements, but understanding of statements is very limited. She has s small active vocabulary. In communication she often uses particular sounds and strings of sounds, simple gestures, understands some pictograms. Passive vocabulary is wider – it contains the most commonly used words, phrases and persons’ names in everyday situations. She needs regular assistance in the learning process, encouragement, bright visuals and direct cooperation with a teacher. The girl has started to construct simple, short sentences, but they are very unintelligible.

Her attention is more persistent if someone is working with her individually.  She can accomplish simple action individually – to take, to put back, to give, to observe pictures, to point on some objects in those pictures, to color over lines. She actively takes part in motion games and sports activities, sings and dances in music lesson. In literature class she tries to tell story independently, listens to the reading material, comprehends it partly. In the free time she plays with dolls and turns the pages of a magazine.

Blossom likes to participate in all measures. She has a leader position in her class and behavior problems are observed, she may fight and yell.  Girl is emotionally unstable, often reacts with anger, resents quickly, tendency to run away is observed.  At the same time the girl is kind-hearted, polite, responsive.

Total sweet heart alert! The agency’s team got to see Mara for the second time when they visited in May!

With total politeness she asked for a pack of gummy snacks. A girl that knows what she wants. Soon she was showing off her talent to color! Wow does this girl have skill. Colors all out and organized, color page tilted ever so slightly, and bent into the coloring pose she started her master piece. As we watched she made the most deep-in-thought faces as she decided exactly how she wanted the final product to be.

Mara is such a gentle soul. She has an adorable smirk and wise, knowing eyes. She loves drawing, puzzles and going to school. And she was very, very pleased with her new haircut
