Spring

SpringGirl, born September 2012
PRC
Down syndrome, post-op CHD

Spring is just adorable! She came into care when she was 7 months old (approximately), and was found to have Down syndrome as well as a congenital heart defect. She had surgery in 2013 to correct the TOF/ASD (Tetrology of Fallot / atrial septal defect) and recovered well. Spring is a very quiet, very sweet little one who really needs a caring, loving family, who will provide her the therapy she requires. Spring has the typical delays seen in little ones with Down syndrome, and being confined to her stroller/walker is not helping her. Spring’s left ear folds down a bit, but there is no known hearing issue involved. They have noted in her file that Spring’s favorite activity is “being held” (how sweet is that!?). This little one is ready for a family.

Faith Ann

Faith RKGirl, born 2012
PRC
Down syndrome, Congenital heart disease, Esotropia

Listed May 4, 2016

Faith was born in March 2012 and was found abandoned shortly after. She has been diagnosed with Esotropia (misalignment) of both eyes, Down syndrome and Congenital Heart Disease (PDA). Doctors in her area have said that her heart issue may self-heal and surgery wasn’t recommended.

Faith’s adoption file was completed in November 2015 when she was 3.5 years old. At that time she was participating in a program and was close to her teacher. She was said to be a popular child who was curious, lovely and friendly. Staff say she often holds hands with friends and foster siblings on the way to and from school. If she sees a child with a runny nose she will get a tissue and help them wipe it. Caretakers say she’s, “so cute and sensible.”

Faith is described as an active and energetic child who enjoys playing with peers and listens well to her caretakers. She can wash her hands independently, undress herself and go up and down stairs. She is fond of listening to music and has a ready smile.

A US Cardiologist has said that her medical situation would likely be quite manageable but whether or not she would need an operation to fix the PDA would depend on her symptoms and a repeat echocardiogram.

Temple

Temple (2) Temple (1)Girl, born April 2012
PRC
Down syndrome

Temple is a precious little girl who is 3 years old. She has Down syndrome, with excellent gross and fine motor skills. Temple is not a good eater, and they are working with her to improve her nutrition. In her file, there is a description that may well be a bad translation, but the agency loves it. Under “Personality”, it say Temple is “relentless”. Perhaps, strong-willed is what they meant. But a relentless, adorable little girl will do well in life, for sure! Temple is not fond of being awakened to eat, but is typically a very happy little one. She loves to be held and hugged, Temple is a delightful little girl who will bring such happiness to your family!

Her adoption file was prepared when she was 3.5 years old and at that time it was reported that she was able to crawl and sit unassisted, and walk with one hand being held. She has flexible hands and can pick up small objects, hold a pen, imitate drawing lines and can turn pages in a book. Bonnie is communicating with simple words, feeding herself, putting on her shoes and socks, and undressing independently. Her favorite toy is a musical puppet and she enjoys watching cartoons and listening to music. Bonnie has a ready smile and is a cooperative little girl. In August 2015 orphanage staff took her to a hospital for heart surgery but the doctor said her pulmonary artery pressure was too high and the surgery was cancelled. Carly

CarlyGirl, born November 2012
PRC
Down syndrome

Carly is a chubby little girl, who was quite relaxed and content when our staff visited her orphanage. She seemed perfectly happy on her nanny’s lap, and reached with curiosity for the things handed to her. She has been diagnosed with Down syndrome. An extroverted little girl, she’s not afraid of strangers, and loves to be held, but can also entertain herself playing in her crib. She isn’t speaking yet, but will say “ah” to communicate, and understands simple directions. When she sees other children eating, she’ll reach for her caregiver like she’s asking for food too. She can roll over, sit and crawl, and though our staff saw she can bear weight, she’s not motivated to stand or walk yet. She can feed herself finger foods and hold her bottle to drink, and cooperate when getting dressed. She loves colorful balls, and dancing along with music! Quinn Leigh

Quinn Leigh (1)Girl, born 2013
PRC
Down syndrome

Quinn Leigh has been described by caregivers as clever, introverted, cute and energetic. Quinn Leigh lives in an imitation family on the orphanage grounds, which is like a foster family, so she is receiving more one-on-one attention than some other children.

Quinn Leigh can use her hands to hold small objects, such as sticks, books, spoons, etc. Quinn Leigh can pass toys between both of her hands and can use hands to support herself. When Quinn Leigh is sitting up the child has good balance and can change her position freely. Quinn can crawl, she can stand up by herself and is learning to walk. Quinn Leigh likes to walk around using small chairs and stools to help her balance.Quinn Leigh (2)

Like many children with Down syndrome, Quinn Leigh’s language abilities are delayed compared to other children her age without Down syndrome. However, she can say words like “ma ma,” “ba ba,” and she imitates what adults and children around her are saying.

Quinn Leigh enjoys listening to music, looking at picture books and dancing. She can color on paper and play with puzzles. She is clearly a very curious little girl and always seems to want to figure out how things work. We hope we are able to find her Forever Family soon!

Felicity is a very cute little girl, who warmed up to our staff quickly when they visited in April 2016. Another little girl put a crown on her head at the nanny’s request, which Felicity didn’t seem to mind! She is diagnosed with Down syndrome, as well as a heart murmur. She is able to walk and run well. Her speech is not always clear, but staff heard her say “mama” very clearly. Caregivers say it seems like she tries to put 2-3 words together, but they can’t always tell. She’s a very social little girl, who loves to be playing with other kids. A natural little leader, she can become loud trying to get the other children’s attention and get them to follow her! She follows basic directions, but isn’t receiving any formal teaching yet. When asked to point to parts of the face (eyes, ears, nose, mouth) she could do so. Our staff watched her put together duplo blocks very well!

There is a $4000 Child Grant that may be available to families through the agency.

$1,227.20 has been donated towards the cost of my adoption!

Your gift will serve ALL of the children, as 10% of each Waiting Child Donation is shared with our Voice of Hope fund, as well!

Shaena

Shaenashaena-2015-2-croppedGirl, born Feb 2012
PRC
Down syndrome

UPDATE November 2015, from her caregivers:  Shaena is outgoing and lively, but sometimes stubborn.  She gets along well with other children.  She is very attached to her nannies.  She still needs assistance with dressing and other care needs.  She is not potty trained, still in a diaper. She sleeps very well, she’s a good eater, and she attends preschool.

From an update 2/2015: Shaena can play well with blocks and she can dance to the music. She can avoid obstacles when pushing carts and she can reach things by standing on her tippy toes. Shaena gets a little aggressive with others when mad. She is healthy, strong, and in good health. She can understand some simple instructions like “give me the paper in your hand, do not climb, sit well, eat”, etc. Shaena can crawl down the bed very quickly and she can walk by herself for a while. She can stand up after falling over and can climb well. Shaena can hold small tiny things and can pull the rope by changing hands. Shaena can pick up and throw balls. She will ask to be held when adults walk by her and she knows if she is being criticizing or praised. When praised, she gets very happy! When you point out her mistakes, she will cry. Shaena’s favorite things to do are imitate, eat, and dance.

Girl, born Feb 2011Tesaiupdate2 PRC
Down syndrome, Cleft Palate, bilateral ear deformity, growth delays, developmental delay

Listed: Dec 21, 2013

Tesia has a diagnosis of Down Syndrome, but a prospective family needs to be open to the possibility of a different medical diagnosis as Tesia exhibits many characteristics of children who have been diagnosed with Treacher Collins, although TC is not mentioned specifically in her record. Tesia was found abandoned at around 10 days old. She is a timid, shy and quiet little girl who likes to play with toys especially balls, sand and slides. Tesia is able to walk and is reported to be toilet trained. She can search for the source of a sound and can make sounds on her own, but did not use words as of the report date. Tesia likes to be cuddled and spoken to. She is waiting for a family of her own who can snuggle with her as they tell her “I love you!”Tesia updated photo

From an April 2015 UPDATE: Tesia can walk, run and go up and down the stairs. She can dress herself and goes to the bathroom on her own. She goes to the special education class in the SWI. She likes to go to school and gets along well with other classmates. As of today, Tesia is very active with quick responses and more speech. However, she speaks in a low voice. She has a strong ability to imitate and follows the teachers to do exercises. After class, she will play on the swings with her favorite friend. She will cry when she is blamed for wrong doings. When she sees the other kids cry, she will comfort them by patting them on the back. Tesia loves to play in the ball pits and on the trampoline. She likes someone to play with her and talk to her.
