Down Syndrome, 3-5 Girls

This page represents children from many countries. All of them have Down syndrome. Some of the orphanages allow multiple children to be adopted together.  The majority of the children posted here can also be adopted by CANADIAN FAMILIES!  Please inquire!

PLEASE HELP US raise grant funds and awareness for these precious, waiting angels. You really can save a life, with even the smallest gift!  You are also invited to send a check (no Paypal fees) to Reece's Rainbow, PO Box 4024, Gaithersburg, MD 20885

"Your gift will serve ALL of the children, as 10% of each waiting child donation is shared with our Voice of Hope fund as well!

Robyn 2H

Girl, Born October 8, 2006

Robyn is a curious, playful little girl with dark hair and giant brown eyes, who also happens to have Down syndrome. She is very active, although she was born with a VSD.  She does have an umbilical hernia (many children with Down syndrome do, just weak stomach muscles).

Robyn is already 4 and has likely been transferred to the institution already.  PLEASE HELP HER FIND A FAMILY.  More photos available.

From one of our adoptive families who visited with her in July 2011:  Robyn would probably do best in a smaller family, with 4 or less kids, as she likes attention.    She’d be great as the youngest in a family of teens ;)   She is very curious and she was just so small and very adorable, cuter in person.  I didn’t have a chance to take a new photo but she looked good and her hair was just a bit longer than in her current photo.   She seemed very aware of her surroundings and clearly knew there were new people there today.  Most likely pretty high functioning.  She is really sweet and is probably of Armenian or other Roma descent.”

Holly 25C

18mc5-25C
Girl, born April 2009
Eyes: Hazel
Hair: blond

Diagnosis: Down syndrome

Restless nature. (02/24/11) The girl is calm. Cognitive interest in practically does not show. Self-sits, stands with support lying rotated in all directions, not creeps. Independently takes the toy in both hands, unstable interest. Understanding of simple everyday instructions available. Emotional reaction only after prolonged stimulation. Spontaneously utters certain vowel sounds.  Does not self feed.

Update from a family who met her, March 2012:

I walked into the room and immediately recognized Holly from her picture on RR. I was there to visit another child, so after quickly greeting her, I turned away to interact with the other child instead. Holly would have none of that! She doesn’t walk yet, but she scoots quickly, and made her way directly to me and into my lap. She giggled a lot and interacted with me the entire time I held her. She stole my heart with her outgoing personality.

The caregivers told me that she had health issues for the first few years of her life and she is only now becoming healthy. She is very tiny for her age. She is in an orphanage that provides for the children but I feel really needs a family soon so that she can start receiving interventions and therapies so that she may grow into a healthy little girl.

Maelie

Girl, born November 2008
Diagnosis:  Down syndrome
Her skin is light brown; her hair is straight and black

Maelie’s mother wanted her, but she was unable to take care of her.

From a report written when she was 22 months old:

She has perceptive auditory problems, but it doesn’t specify if she has hearing problems.

Her speech is delayed; she had difficulties expressing herself and is better with physical responses.  She likes to be with people and reacts with affection.  She smiles all the time, sleeps well and eats different meals.

Overall, she is reported to be healthy.   She was tested for HIV, hepatitis and venereal deases and all were negative.  It doesn’t mention if she has been seen by a cardiologist.

Such a little sweetpea!

Little Sally has perinatal exposure to HIV; she was born slightly prematurely, at 35-36 weeks gestationally.

She was born with Down syndrome, and a heart defect; an open atrioventicular canal. Complete form of atria septal defect – 4 mm, membranous ventricular septal defect – 10 mm, circulatory insufficiency 0-1   We have no report of surgery at this time — so it would be imperitive to get her checked up by a cardiologist as soon as she comes home.

She also has some myopia (nearsightedness), so she’ll need to see an ophthamologist once she’s home, as well.

Amanda 26HA

p55l-26HA

Date of Birth: March 2008
Gender: Female
Eyes: Gray
Hair: blond

Diagnosis: Down syndrome

Update from a family who met her in Feb 2012:

Amanda would do best in a family with older children or no children – she does not interact well with or like younger children.  She would rather play by herself.

She loves her caretakers and likes to sit in their laps to play. She likes individualized attention and has a fit if the caretakers pay any attention to the other children. She likes to help clean and dust. She loves the vacuum cleaner and figured out how to turn it on by herself. She loves to be tickled and will laugh when you do so. She laughs when you throw her up in the air or dip her head back. She likes to throw balls. She loves to eat bread.

She’s in a good orphanage. She seemed like a very sad, lonely little girl. It broke my heart. We had to tickle her and do the things I mentioned above to get a smile or laugh from her. I saw a beautiful light deep within her and she needs a home very badly. She will do so well with a family that has the time and attention to really work with her. She will be a life changer.
