Nani

Nina -new2Girl, born July 2012
PRC
DS, post-op CHD

Nani is an adorable baby girl who is 1 year old. She came into care when she was about 6 months old. She was diagnosed with ASD/PDA, which has been successfully surgically corrected. Nani has Down syndrome. Nani’s development was not up to her peers at the time of her report, but we do not know how much of her delay can be attributed to her past heart issue or just typical Down syndrome delays. Nani needs a family who will love her (that will be easy!), and help her receive the therapies she needs to catch up. Nani will be such a sweet daughter!

Julia

Julia 2

Julia 1Girl, born March 2012
PRC
Down Syndrome

Imagine this precious 2 year old girl with a smile on her face. Julia is currently living with a foster family. She is not yet speaking, but she can express her needs by eye contact, gestures and babbling. When she sees her favorite toy on the desk, she will point to it while making the sound of ah ah, trying to get someone to bring it to her. When she is hungry, she makes the sounds of yiyi ah ah. When someone is eating, she might go to her/him with her hands holding onto the desk, and ask for food. She is currently still in diapers, but cries when she has a bowel movement and stops crying right after her foster mom changes her. Julia can stand up alone and can walk with her hands held by an adult. She likes to ride her toy horse and enjoys playing with other children. When there are children over, she rides her horse over to them and watches them play or follows them by riding the horse and chasing them in the yard. If her foster mom calls her, she will turn her head and walk to her. Julia is fond of imitating. When there are singing and dancing programs on TV, she wiggles and imitates the dancing. When her foster mom praises her by giving a thumbs-up gesture, she imitates the thumbs up! When people leave, she can express goodbye to them by waving her hand. Julia is a lovely little girl who would be a blessing to some lucky family! Will you be the family to put a beautiful smile on her sweet face?

Hester

Hester 1 Hester 3Girl, born July 2012
PRC
Down Syndrome; esotropia

What a little pumpkin Hester is! Hester will be turning two soon. She is diagnosed with down syndrome and esotropia. Hester was just moved to a foster family in January. She is a good sleeper once she is out, but she likes to play a little bit before falling asleep. Hester is introverted and quiet. She likes music, TV, and toys with sound- her musical toy car is her favorite! At 4 months, she could keep her head up and could grasp things and move them to her mouth. She also began to find other kids. At 6 months, she could turn over and could play with toys near her. At 7 months, she could kick her feet strongly, bounce on the caregiver’s lap, and could turn to the sound source if you called her. At 8 months, she could sit well, grasp things, and pat toys. At 12 months, she was afraid of strangers and could not walk. Now she likes sitting in the walker and rarely cries. She can make the sound of “mama” and “baba”. Occasionally she can call out “mama” and “baba.” Hester laughs loudly when being teased. What Hester needs most is the love of a forever family! Could you be her forever family?
