Caregivers have reported that he can sometimes be naughty and walk around in his walker to open cabinets and pull out clothes. He loves to play with his toys, listen to music, and play with other children. His favorite game is hide and seek! Levron

Down syndrome & CHD

Listed: June 2016

The agency’s team visited Levron for the third time in April. We glanced at this paperwork then looked a little closer. It was his 3rd birthday! So we sang, and Levron got 2 packages of fruit snacks rather than the standard 1 package per child.

My favorite memory of Levron from the April trip is how much he loved looking at himself in the mirror! He looked and giggled and kissed himself then looked at himself again. It was just too adorable! Another thing that brought peals of laughter from him was playing peek-a-boo! And his laugh is so cute! We couldn’t help laughing with him!

Levron was sooooo close to walking when we met him! He stacked cups for us and really loved looking at books. He babbles but isn’t saying words yet.

After being placed in the orphanage, he underwent heart surgery to repair multiple intra ventricular defects. His heart has been checked annually since his surgery and is healthy at this time. He has no other physical health complications.

Zadock is making progress with his development. He is currently living in a group home setting and attending preschool. He can walk and run independently. He climbs up/down on furniture and can go up/down stairs with minimal assistance. He imitates gestures and actions, responds with excitement when he sees familiar adults, and enjoys interacting with both adults and peers. He follows basic instructions. He can say some simple words and imitates sounds. He can work wooden puzzles with minimal assistance, and can stack blocks after watching someone do it first. He will roll a ball back and forth with a peer or adult. He eats from a spoon and sleeps well at night.

Videos taken in October 2017 show him responding to simple instructions, and demonstrating pretend play skills by playing with a toy truck appropriately and pretending to cook and eat from a toy kitchen set. He is very social and interactive in the videos.

Photos and videos from October 2017 are available through the agency.

Down Syndrome, Eyelid Ptosis, Nystagmus

Listed: Sept 2017

Meet Jai! He will be turning 3 years old this fall. Jai’s nannies say he is generally a pretty active kiddo! He loves being outside – when it is time to play outside he is able to recognize his shoes and will ask his nanny to help put them on. When he is inside, this boy is fascinated by anything with wheels. He loves to push his toy cars around and he really likes the toy shopping cart! Jai also likes music. His nannies tell us he will sit very calmly as he listens to the melody.

Little Jai can walk steadily on his own, but he is not running quite yet. He can feed himself snacks, too. He is not talking yet, but he knows to find his nanny when he needs help with something.

Please help this sweet boy find his family!

Nashville

Down syndrome

Nashville was found abandoned when he was around 6 months old and a birth note was with him indicating his age. He has been diagnosed with Down Syndrome. Nashville was described by orphanage staff as being lively, active and extroverted. They said he liked to play with other children and enjoyed time with adults as well. He doesn’t like to share treats with others but is generous with his caretaker. He is able to play alone.

Agency staff met Nashville in November 2017 and said he is very ticklish! He responded to voices, turned to locate sounds and could follow a moving object with his eyes. He could search for dropped items, build a tower with blocks and play games like patty cake. He could laugh, imitate words and vocalize sounds like “mama.” Nashville was able to hold a crayon and scribble on paper, throw a ball, run and jump. He lives with a foster family and had 2 foster siblings in his home. Caretakers said he eats well and is very playful. They hope he will find a family to love him.

Branden L41

Boy, born summer 2012

Down syndrome, speech delay

Listed: July 2017

Branden has bluish-green eyes and light brown hair. He is sunny, inquisitive and very active boy, who likes attention and communication. Branden was placed in an out-of-family care institution (from foster care) at the age of 3 years and 5 months. The adaptation period in the orphanage was successful, the boy was friendly and cute, the attention span was sustainable, physical development corresponded the age, language development was delayed.

Branden’s overall development progresses well, although the development of language is without change, attention span is less sustainable, he is more careless. General movements are free, the boy freely moves, runs, climbs up and down the stairs. Branden is very active and inquisitive. He shows interest in the surrounding area and events, as well as activities of adults and other children. He is friendly and builds contact gladly also with less known people. The boy is interested in toys, but often the interest is unstable, he plays a little bit and then looks for another toy. Needs to be motivated to continue and finish the started play. The boy tends to be inattentive, has unstable attention, wants to rush everything. Language development lags behind age norms and progress is very minimal. The boy responds to his name, he comprehends and reacts adequately on daily instructions. Uses few words in short form in his active speech, but in most occasions uses inarticulate exclamation sounds, vocabulary has not progressed. Passive (receptive) vocabulary is wider. Keenly observes and leafs through picture books, but he cannot show the asked object or name it himself. Self-skills well trained, independent eating and drinking, knows his cot, is able to dress himself partially, can undress, is not yet able to fasten clothes with buttons or zips, goes to toilet after reminder, sometimes goes independently.

Branden does have older siblings, but they have been legally separated by the courts.

Freddie

Boy, born 2012
PRC
Down syndrome

Listed: June 2017

Freddie was abandoned at 7 months old. He is diagnosed with Down Syndrome and funnel chest. Freddie’s medical information is 3 years old, but we do have some recent information from his orphanage. While we are working to get an updated medical for him, the recent report, photos, and videos can give a good picture of Freddie’s development. Neither the medical or report indicate any significant delays with his physical development.

Freddie’s videos show him walking steadily, kicking a ball, and playing with blocks, indicating that his gross and fine motor skills appear to be on target. Freddie reportedly can understand simple language and is seen following directions in his videos, though we are not sure if Freddie is able to speak. Freddie attends school in the orphanage, but there is no language training available which inhibits his ability to learn to speak. His intelligence is slightly delayed compared to his peers, but he could potentially make progress with the proper services and interventions.

Freddie is said to be outgoing, active, and loving. The orphanage reports that he can make new friends easily and he is seen playing with other children in his videos. Freddie has a sweet smile and pleasant demeanor. He has some self-care ability; he reportedly can do simple tasks alone, but needs assistance with other tasks such as taking a shower. The orphanage reports that Freddie can have bowel and bladder control, but he does not at this time.

Freddie needs the love and support of a family to help him thrive. Could Freddie find a home with your family?

Dobie

Down syndrome, Congenital Heart Defect

Listed: May 2017

Two-year-old Dobie is a delightful little boy with a love for music and dancing. In April of 2016, Dobie was moved from his orphanage to a foster family. Dobie can say dad and mum and can turn his head when called. When strangers try to hold him, he goes to his foster parents and shakes his head, refusing to let them hold him. He can wave goodbye, clap his hands, and copy his foster mother’s dance moves, putting his hands up in the air and shaking his body to the beat. Dobie can stand up from a sitting position and walk short distances. He makes a lot of sounds and loves to babble. He seems to be very on target developmentally in comparison to other children with down syndrome his age.

Dobie enjoys playing with his older foster brother and playing outside. If his foster brother is being bossy, he will hit him with a toy and sometimes bite him- he certainly knows how to stand up for himself! Dobie loves it when his foster mom holds his hand and his foster mother says he is a smart and flexible little boy. He will take the bottle when someone fills it up to drink on his own. He likes to eat apples and jelly the most. Dobie can learn how to play with a toy quickly after being taught. He really likes the toy trumpet. Dobie also likes playing with small balls, toy cars, and watching tv.

Please share so that Dobie might dance his way right into the heart of his forever family.

The agency has videos and additional photos available. There is a $5,000 agency grant for Dobie’s adoption with the current agency. Other agency grants may be available based on the adoptive family’s circumstances.

Austin

Boy, born 2014

Down syndrome

Listed: March 2017

Austin likes to make faces at himself in the mirror, smiling or opening his eyes and mouth wide. A restless and active boy, he is quite interested in new things, and he laughs loudly when he’s happy. Austin is diagnosed with Down syndrome, and he has no other known medical needs. His voice is low, he doesn’t scream or shout, and although he doesn’t yet speak, if he needs something he lets his nannies know by making sounds or crying. His caregivers can easily tell how he feels by the sound of his voice, and he responds appropriately to their facial expressions. When praised he is happy, and when scolded he gets very quiet. By October 2016 he could crawl, sit on his own, and go up and down stairs by holding onto the railing. If Austin doesn’t like something he’ll refuse it by just not moving, and his caregivers all now understand that this means he doesn’t want it! When he sleeps, he sucks on two of his fingers, and his nanny will sneak over later and move his hand out of his mouth once he’s asleep. This cheerful little fellow needs a family who will give him all the care and attention he needs!

The agency who currently holds Austin’s file is offering a $4000 grant.

RODS in partnership with Whovian Running Club

Charlie is tenacious and determined. He will work at new skills until he has grasped them – whether learning to balance or stealing crackers to share with the other children! Charlie is adventurous and loves to explore. His caretakers report that he is always curious about fresh things in life. He loves to play with toys and has a special affinity for trying on shoes.

Charlie has been diagnosed with Down syndrome and patent foramen ovale, a hole in his heart, but he has normal cardiac function and is otherwise healthy. Charlie’s file has been designated Special Focus, indicating his need of a forever family! Families do not need a dossier registered in-country to be matched with Charlie.

Down syndrome

Listed: March 2017

Felix Cooper is a happy toddler who is usually smiling! Caregivers describe him as obedient, and say he gets along well with other children. Though he would often cry wanting to be picked up, he could be distracted with a rattle, and would happily play on his own.

Felix Cooper is diagnosed with Down syndrome, and his thorax protrudes out. At one year old, he could hold his head up, roll over, and sit on his own, though not for very long. Now he can crawl, stand and take steps when holding onto furniture. A social little boy, he interacts with his nannies and makes eye contact. He can feed himself finger foods. His favorite toys are balls and musical instruments! This chubby sweetheart needs a family to give him lots of cuddles!

The agency that currently has his file is offering an additional $4000 grant!

Simon

Boy, born 2014

Down syndrome

Listed: March 2017

Simon is a happy little boy who loves to be outside. His foster mom says he likes to be with other children and laughs very easily. Simon isn’t quite walking yet, but he crawls and sits on his own and pulls to a stand. He says several words and had a wonderful time ripping up paper and flinging it around!

Simon is in foster care and appears to have a close connection with his foster mother. He likes when she hugs him but is more reserved with people he doesn’t know.  Little Simon needs a family. Could be your son?

***Simon has a $4000 grant towards his adoption from his current agency!***

Ben is in a wonderful foster home where he receives great care.

AN UPDATE FROM NOVEMBER 2016 SAYS:
Ben has literally transformed before our very eyes in terms of improvement and progress. He came to us at 19 months and could not sit up, and was extremely low tone in all of his muscles. Now he sits up, plays on his own. Gives us good eye contact. Eats table food from a spoon, and sitting in a high chair. He has come a long way in his 4 months here. Video available from the agency.

Down syndrome

Listed: January 2017

Lorne is a quiet, observant little boy who preferred to stay on his caregivers lap rather than play with us, but once we got the little music toy out he was much more willing to come to us. Lorne wasn’t quite walking when we (agency staff) saw him in October, but he took steps if you held his little hands. He follows simple commands and loves toys that make sounds.

His file describes him as a well behaved lovely boy. Could this little sweetheart be your son? You can read more about Lorne and see additional photos in this blogpost.

Duke, 3, was abandoned at 2 months old. Upon admission to the orphanage, he was diagnosed with Down Syndrome and Congenital Heart Defect (CHD). His caretakers described him as an active, bright and smart kid. Duke has great gross motor skills. He can walk on his own, move around obstacles, and play actively, such as kicking and chasing a ball outside. He is well behaved and follows instructions from his teacher when given. Duke can imitate simple language such as dad, mom, and aunt. He is also able to have simple interactions with his caregivers. Duke knows his shapes, the names of clothes, and the names of five organs! His fine motor skills are good as well. He can pick up and move small objects, he can put shapes into their correct positions, and can hold a pen to color with. Duke has good self-care ability. He can feed himself, put his shoes and socks on and off, help his caregiver receive and pass objects, wipe his own nose, and wash his hands and face without help. Duke does still wear a diaper. Duke is fond of listening to music, playing with toys, and playing games. He loves to play interactive games and his favorite toy is a light-up music box. Can Duke find a home with your family?
