In January 2015, Barrett became unavailable until age 5, due to the laws in his country.   He will be available for adoption in fall 2016

VIDEO:  https://youtu.be/WMefdZwvUi0

This little love has a heart defect and numerous other health issues:  condition after resection of coarctation of the aorta, aneurysm of interatrial septum with multiple defects perimembranous (VSD), laryngotracheomalacia (collapsed airway), micrognathia (abnormally small jaw), tracheostomy

It’s suspected that Barrett may have Pierre Robin syndrome or a chromosome deletion. Families should be prepared for additional health needs, just in case.

Barrett desperately needs a family to give him the love, attention and medical care he needs to thrive.

Mild Mental Delay

Emma is going to be transferred into the school orphanage for mentally delayed children, and it is not the best place to anybody. The orphanage may keep her only till summer 2016, and then she will be transferred!

She is much educationally delayed. She is pretty friendly and calm. But her memory is not good, and it is hard for her to remember any rhymes or poems.
This girl needs a patient family who will love her and care of her. She deserves it!

Guardian AngelCharlotteSimeon, Born October 2007
Significantly delayed; Cerebral palsy
Charlotte, born 2002
significantly delayed

Listed February 22, 2011

Simeon is a beautiful Roma child with dark hair and big brown eyes.  He is significantly delayed, and diagnosed with cerebral palsy.  We are trying to get more information on his social history.  Simeon is a fraternal twin, whose sister has already been adopted.

Simeon is described as mostly non-verbal, and is not able to walk on his own.  There just seems to be so much potential for him in a family environment.  He is already an outcast because of his darker skin and will be left institutionalized – and likely bedridden — if not adopted.

From a family who visited with him in 2011:  Simeon is barely responsive to stimuli, but I believe that could change if he received regular, loving attention.  I didn’t observe any of the orphanage workers spending much time interacting with him.  There were times that I was able to get him to smile and grip my hand.  After a few days, he was even able to clap!  But most of the time he is staring off in any direction and seems completely unable to control most of his movements.  He was always either lying down or propped up in a sitting position.  I never heard him speak.  I also never heard him cry or fuss. Overall, a very calm child.

Married couples only, larger families and older parents welcome.

*** We are eligible for a $10,000 Older Child Grant! For more information, email childinquiry@reecesrainbow.org ***

From a family that met him 3/16:
He’s a good size for his age. I was allowed to hold him and he let me do the “mom away”. I kept trying to get into his line of vision, but he kept averting his gaze. Boy, born 2011

Internal hydrocephalus compensated disgenesis of corpus callosum

Will is a twin with Harry, but his twin has been adopted by a family in his country, please lets find him a family!!

From a family that met him 2/16:
Will is a sweet little boy. He has the most amazing blue eyes! I have not seen any evidence of the way his hydro is effecting him except one of his eyes turns in but it does not seem to impede his balance or his ability to play. He goes out to play with all the other kids but is not allowed to do dance with them. He seems to be the more reserved of the twins but that could just be from always feeling like he is being left out and rejected. I really hope that having a family will put that spark back into his eyes.

Boy, born January 2007
Down syndrome

Handsome Kelvin is 8 years old, and waiting for his family!

40626124650 Philip (1)

From a family who met him in June 2014:

This calm little guy came up to me with pleading eyes for attention and is just so polite. God has heard his prayers, and now he is listed for adoption! He is not overbearing or competitive at all. Rather, he is observant and inquisitive. He is about the size of a six year-old and just so gentle. I would take him home in a heartbeat if he was available before. He takes turns riding the red wagon around the orphanage grounds as the bigger boys pull him, and he gestures politely for fresh fruit when he sees it is available. He is kind to other children. He says a few words in his native language, and listened carefully when I was giving descriptions of my family photos. I have confidence that he would do wonderfully in any kind of family, and it is obvious– he can surely reciprocate love! He enjoyed throwing balls, going on walks, playing see-saw, and listening to English descriptions. Whoever adopts this little love will be so blessed to call him a beloved son.

He is verbal and said things like, “Cheese!” when having his picture taken, and “Can I see?” to see the photo stored in the camera. He will make a sweet addition to any family and he will simply thrive with the love of a Mama and Papa poured into him! Listed: February 1, 2016

An I600a MUST be filed by August 2016!!

This boy is very smart, kind-hearted and well behaved. He desperately wants to have a family. He is very worried about his condition (HIV). He has very little time left before he ages out. He is very much hoping his family will find him before it is too late for him.

He is a good student and great sportsman.  Scottie has indicated he prefers a family without special needs children.

From a family who met him in 2016: I have met him and he is very good, shy, sweet and loving boy. He’s friends with my son who we just adopted this year. My son face times with him occasionally and he asks every time if we have found a family for him yet… Praying for his forever family. He is a precious boy with a gentle spirit.

Multiple congenital arthrogryposis, thymic hypoplasia, hypoplasia of abdominal wall muscles, crossed eyes, additional chord in the heart.

He had surgery. He is developing well. Smart boy. Needs out asap.

From a family that met him 11/15:
“Mathis” (he will be 3 years old in winter) also has delayed speech and mental delay. He did not use any words while we were there. He cannot sit, crawl, stand, or walk. We did not see him move about the floor, he needed to be held. This is frustrating for him. We did not observe him using his hands. I tried to place toys in his hands a he did not grab them. He did not laugh or smile.

Guardian AngelPriscilla

Girl, Born February 2010

WONDERFUL new photo of Miss Priss!

updated medical: congenital malformations of her spinal cord/musculoskeletal system/eye/hip, lactose intolerance, nephritis, diverticulum of bladder, mental delays

Pretty Priscilla!

From her caregivers:  communicative; adequate reactions.  Character: cheerful, active, friendly, communicative, likes to play with different toys.

Update Nov 18, 2014:

Priscilla is doing very well. She is a kind of shying but a smart girl. She understands everything but her speech ability is not understandable to me as she is very quiet. She has survived her blood issues she had few years ago.

She will be 5 years old in February 2015, and it would be great if a family will be ready to adopt her by that time. She really needs a family asap because her intellectual potential may be lost due to nobody really cares of her mental development and IQ in the orphanage. The care of her general health condition pretty good though.

More photos available.  Priscilla may be available with Louis.

AnnaGirl, born 2009anna (1)

What a sweetie!

Internal hydrocephalus (operated), spastic tetraparesis with movement disorders, open oval window, development delays

From a family who met her summer 2015:
This little girl is wonderful! I have never met a child with so much personality and spunk. She absolutely loves people and she is so desperate for attention. I held her for most of our visitation time one day. If I tried to put her down she demanded that I pick her up again and then she would kiss all over me. She just wanted someone to be near her. Everyday when my husband would walk through the playground gates she would get a stern look on her face and point at him and then motion for him to come to her… NOW:) She would smile from ear to ear when he acknowledged her. You can not help but laugh when you are with her. Even the cold and distant nannies couldn’t keep a solemn expression on their faces when we interacted with her.

She is in need of urgent dental care! I have never seen such decayed teeth before. I am not sure why her mouth is so much worse than all the other children but her mouth is really concerning. She can stand on her own but struggles to lift and bend her legs when she is bearing weight on them. She has a little walker that she does wonderful with. She can walk along a bench by holding on to it but we never saw her walk independently. From what I could tell she does not have any limitations of her upper body.

We never witnessed her show any aggression towards any of the children. When I would sit on the bench holding my daughter she would try to climb in my lap as well, but she never tried to harm my daughter or push her out of the way. She is very hungry for attention and for the love of a family. She would make a wonderful daughter and I am sure she would provide you with a life time of laughter.

Kathleen2-croppedKathleen 2015Girl, born 2004
Unrepaired cleft palate, mental delays

Listed: October 1, 2015

Kathleen is described as broadminded and cheerful.

From someone who met Kathleen in 2010: Kathleen is a very loving and social little girl who loves getting attention from adults. Whenever I was in her group, she was always right beside me, participating in whatever I was doing and engaging me in her own favorite activities. Kathleen has kept that silly, playfulness that most institutionalized children seem to lose. She was definitely a little mischievous getting into everything, but was also very quick to follow direction and obviously eager to please. I truly believe she would thrive in a family where she was showered with all the attention she deserves and allowed to simply be the fun-loving, silly little girl God created her to be.

From someone who met Kathleen in 2012: Kathleen is a happy little girl who would love to be able to communicate, but cannot because of an unrepaired cleft palate. She makes noises to communicate to the best of her ability. She is a very sweet little girl, and loves to play outside. Many missionaries who have met her loved her and spoke highly of her!

Update September 2015: Kathleen was moved into an all girls facility in 2012. The staff say she has adapted well to the routine and has a group of friends. However there is no opportunity for education or therapy where she currently is. The staff say their goals are focused physical activity and teaching the girls self care rather than on education. The facility is in a very rural village and there is no school nearby.

Kathleen was evaluated by a doctor who said that she is moderately mentally disabled. There is a high likelihood that she has some form of a congenital syndrome that she was born with. She has an unrepaired cleft palate, mitral valve prolapse, as well as some abnormality of her elbow joints. She is also very thin, it’s unclear if this is related to her syndrome since the other girls at her facility were not under weight like she is. We observed her eating several times, the palate does not seem to slow her down, but she does have to clear her nose frequently because there is no barrier between her mouth and her nasal cavity. It was originally thought that her speech challenges were due to the unrepaired palate, but the doctor says this is not likely since she is not just delayed in speech, but rather is completely nonverbal. He believes that she will remain nonverbal, but then again there is no speech therapy offered where she is, so we doubt that!

Kathleen understands and is able to follow basic instructions, and is able to perform self care with supervision (self feeds, toilets, dresses independently, etc). We were able to get her to play briefly kicking around a ball, and she liked to watch us color. We were unable to get her to use the crayons herself to see what her fine motor skills are like. She likes to take pictures but refuses to look at the pictures on the phone! She seems really averse to iphones, ipad, etc, when we tried to show her pictures and videos. She would hold our hands and lead us around where she wanted to go, and enjoys skipping! The staff have a nickname for her that basically means “energizer,” because she is always active and on the go!

Kathleen is a beautiful girl who is not able to reach her God given potential where she currently is. The doctor was not hopeful that she would “ever progress,” but we know that with the love/dedication of a family, and medical care/therapy that she needs, that she can prove him wrong!

What an imp!

From a family that spent time with him 9/15:  This little guys is so fun! I spent loads of time with him because he was in the same summer groupa as my daughter that we are bringing home this September. He was always up for hugs and snuggles and pictures. His needs seemed very mild. He seems to have have a slight mental delay and strabismus but I could not see any other special needs. His motor skills seemed to be exactly on cue for a 6 year old boy. He was full of excitement and imagination and loads of energy. What a sweet little blond haired darling treasure! He is in the same school as Charlie, Rebecca, Wetherbee, and Toby. Please somebody bring him home fast! What a darling!

leenaGirl, born 2011

Phenylketonuria, also known as PKU

Leena will be available early 2016!

From a missionary who met her in 2015: “Leena is a strong-willed young girl.  She is stubborn and funny. She loves to explore the world (within the concrete walls she lives between). She has been transferred to this facility in May and she is obviously still getting used to the circumstances of living. She had a lot more freedom in the baby orphanage she came from. Leena can walk (so don’t be fooled by the picture), she can run, she is very energetic. She can drink from a cup. This summer (2015) she was being potty trained. She doesn’t talk. She squeals when she is very excited. She is probably the size of a 3 year old at the moment (summer 2015). She probably understands what is being said to her, but she has a hard time following orders. Due to her PKU she needs a special diet and medicine. The baby orphanage she grew up in, didn’t provide the proper care. So (part of) het mental delays may be caused because of that. The facility she lived in right now, tries to provide the proper care. They do not receive funds for it, so they raise it themselves with a charity fund. They really try to take good care of her. Some nurses really like her. Other nurses have a hard time dealing with her, because of her energetic ways. She likes to move and run around all the time. As soon as you let go of her hand or take her out of her wheelchair, you have to chase her. As soon as you give her an opportunity she’ll take it. Some days she was tied up in a wheelchair and we thought she might have been drugged. She didn’t react, she didn’t smile, she didn’t interact. Until the moment my fiancé pulled her from the wheelchair and it was as if she came alive again. I have not seen any selfharming behaviours and I haven’t seen her hurt other children. I have also not seen her interact with other children at all. The nurses don’t like it when she gets all excited, but for me it was a sign that she was not so institutionalized yet. There was so much fight in her. I hope she finds a family before she loses the strength to fight and before her delays will get worse, due to a lack of a proper diet and medical care.”

Boy, born 2011

Severe delay of physical and mental development

NOT available until Fall 2016

VIDEOhttps://youtu.be/i4KTSYVhRmU

He is currently not available until fall 2016 but his coding may change once he has a new medical exam when he is transferred soon! We will update as soon as we know!

From a family that met him 6/15:

We spent about a week with this sweet boy when we were adopting our son in June 2015. He is so desperate for love. He called me momma and begged my daughter and me to hold him. We loved on him as much as possible and he soaked it up. He picked up English words very quickly, and remembered day after day that I had hand sanitizer in my purse and asked for it by saying, “soap!” He loved to play ball with my kids, and the nannies would let him push the baby carriage around during walks. He has the most infectious giggle I’ve ever heard. He walks well, but the nanny indicated that he has issues with his knees. It didn’t stop him, though!

He needs a good, patient, and loving family to give him what he needs. He is so skinny and needs good nutrition. He has very minor orphanage behaviors, but from the progress he made just being with us for a few days, I know he will flourish in a caring family. He will be transferred to a horrible place (the director of the orphanage told me it is horrible), likely very soon, since he’s almost 4.

This region is beautiful and very cost efficient. The orphanage director is lovely. The facilitators are amazing, and the judge is hilarious and wonderful! You will be able to stay in a hotel and walk to the orphanage and enjoy the beauty and culture of a wonderful town.

From a family who met Cody spring 2014:  we were able to spend a good amount of time with him. He was delightful! He loved holding our hands when we went for walks outside, and he loved playing ball with my husband. He seemed healthy, smart, well-behaved, and kind to the other kids. We often saw him acting kind of like a big brother, helping some of the others with things like zipping their jackets. I think he would do great in a family with other kids. We were sad to say goodbye to him, and he asked us when his mom and dad were coming.

30520132428pearson-2015-croppedBoy, born Dec. 2004
Moderate mental delays, possible FAS

Listed: May 14, 2015

From a family who met him in July 2015:  Pearson is a Lost Boy. He lives in a horrible institution.  Pearson is nonverbal. I only heard him laugh. I never heard other sounds; that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t make them, I just never heard them while I was there. Pearson picks up quickly on things, like making a ball light up, or scribbling on the magna-doodle. He has a wonderful smile, and LOVED making his blue spiky ball light up. It is not in his file, but judged on behavior and facial features, we are pretty sure that he has FAS. We were not able to adopt Pearson because we have small children in our home, and also another son with major needs. Pearson is a beautiful boy, but he lives in a place that chews the boys up and spits them out. He was taken into government care as a baby, and has been there since. He most likely entered this institution when he was 5 or 6. That is a very long time to be neglected. It is a very long time to suffer the boredom and trauma of this place. He is very easily overstimulated. Every few minutes he is overwhelmed and his behavior reflects that. He needs constant supervision, and a home without small children. While he is very sweet and likes to throw balls, he also has a tendency to run away, break things, pull hair, head butt, spit, etc. The more he is worked with, the better his tolerance to stimulation will be. Someone without small children, and someone experienced with institutional behaviors would be best for Pearson. He is a beautiful, broken boy, who needs a mama and daddy to help him calm down, to play ball with him, and to love him and put his pieces back together that the institution broke.”

From a family who met him in Fall 2013:  Pearson is doing so good!! He is precious and sweet! I saw him from a distance every day. The first time, he was with a group of boys having their picture taken in the fall leaves. He always did what the nanny told him to. He walks very well, and he likes holding the nannies hands. My favorite day was when I walked past their group and he was right in front of me on the sidewalk, and before the nanny could move him, I bent down and in Russian told him how sweet he was. He took my face in both of his hands, and pulled me down so our foreheads were touching, and just stared in my eyes. I kissed his cheek, and his whole face lit up!! And he has the most adorable splatter of freckles! He is smaller than I would have thought too.

Lynn, girl, born 2006, healthy

Listed: May 12, 2015

Casey, the younger girl was born in 2008 and has no SNs, just some kind of development delay. She is smart and active, participate in all orphanage performances. She has now been transferred as well.

Her older sister, Lynn, was transferred from her orphanage due to her age and in August she will be transferred again. She was born in 2006. By orphanage social worker her older sister is VERY smart and beautiful, no SNs, very active in all performances. She has now been transferred again

Both girls need a family asap!!!  These 2 siblings are to be adopted together for sure.

They have an older brother born in 2004. He is in the special school orphanage and has severe mental delays.

If a family decides to adopt all 3 children it will be great!!! If they want only two younger siblings they are to be approved for 3 children and to get referral to meet ALL 3 siblings. Then if they decide not to adopt the oldest one we will do the best to “separate” them. I think it is possible, but we cannot guarantee it for sure.  They have a younger brother as well, and he has already been adopted.

Central nervous system lesions, spastic tetraparesis, severe mental delays, Vitreous Fibrosis, Horizontal Nystagmus, overbite.

Listed: May 2, 2015

NEW PHOTO!  Stephen is such a treasure. We want a family for him so desperately. He is about the size of a 6 or 7 year old- just an itty bitty thing. The nannies say that he is blind, but we believe he can at least see shadows. He always wants to be near the window- especially on sunny days. There are two places you can usually find Stephen- either standing under the window at the end of the hall, or sitting on a chair in the kitchen, waiting for the next meal.

Stephen is extremely sensory-seeking and needs to feel the world around him. He loves to spin, flap his arms, spin some more, run, spin, you get the idea. He has absolutely no sensory input at the institution- so he has to create it himself.

He does not speak and displays many institutional behaviors. He is NOT harmful or aggressive to himself or others. He is absolutely adorable and has so.much.potential. He is more than a diagnosis.

aaronaaron-2015Boy, born 2003
CP

Listed: April 13, 2015

From a family who has met him many times:
This boy is absolutely exploding with energy. He’s really unsteady on his feet so he’s constantly roaming the halls half-running/half-falling. He loves to touch and craves physical contact. Sometimes we can get a glorious moment of quiet when he will just let us hold him and wrap our arms around him. He really does love that and it does wonders for his brain development. It’s just a matter of getting him still enough to realize he likes it!

He loves any kind of sensory play, like feeling the dirt outside and holding his hand under a running faucet. He likes to sit in a wheelchair and be pushed around, even though he doesn’t need a wheelchair! The best thing we can do for him is take him on walks. He likes to be outside so sometimes we just get him outside and follow wherever he leads. He doesn’t have any words, but when he gets excited he gives his signature shriek to let us know he’s excited. He needs a family who can provide him with a lot of structure. Right now he is constantly seeking sensory input, and getting into a lot of trouble doing that. We believe he would thrive within the structure and love of a family.

Max

Maxmax-updateBoy, born 2009

congenital heart disease, ventricular septal defect in the phase of closure, nebtal delay, nanism

Probable FAS (cautionary disclosure….facial features and other medical complications consistent with this condition).

Update from a family who met him in April 2016:
The director was encouraging us to consider (Max) for adoption too and really wants to see him in a family. He was transferred into the institution with our son. He was very small for his age, (maybe the size of an American 3 year old) and very active. He reminded me of a small chipmunk because he kept running around the director’s office and poking his nose into everything!!! He was SO curious! I saw him get cookies off the director’s table and he was able to chew and swallow, without difficulty, though he does tend to overload his mouth. (maybe he is afraid they will take the food away?) He drinks normally from a cup.

He understood speech addressed to him and appropriately made the correct animal sound when asked what the dog, cow, etc says. He also knew placement of his body parts. (Eyes, ears…) I did not observe him speak except for animal sounds but gestured appropriately when he needed his needs met.

He does tend to ignore redirection, but does it with a mischievous gleam in his eye and, due to him responding appropriately to questions, there is no doubt in my mind he understands, just doesn’t want to listen! After all, the director’s large office was a fun, new place to explore!

I saw him swinging in a swing and he seems fine physically. His movement (walking and running) is very good. He is not overly affectionate but tolerates affection well. (Director was lifting him/giving him hugs)

This is a nice institution to adopt from. It is an easy walk from the hotel and the hotel director speaks English and is very welcoming and accommodating to American guests. They will overfeed you!  There are many shops, parks, and markets within easy walking distance of the hotel and institution.  Unfortunately, at this institution, the disabled adult men are lumped in with the little boys. Max needs out now! He has amazing potential with a family!

40614170606 Betsy (2)betsy-2016Girl, born late 2002
Slight mental delay, simple astigmatism

Listed: March 1, 2015

From a family who met her in 2014:
This young lady is very sweet! She is in school and just finished the 3rd level. Betsy likes to color, read, run, swing on the playground, and dance. When we were able to talk to her she seemed slightly shy but very calm and gentle. Betsy is articulate and seems only slightly delayed. She and my daughter hugged and cried when they had to say good-bye. Betsy really wants to come to America. She would be a wonderful addition to any family!

I would love to share more with seriously interested families.

Guardian Angelbrandidatabase-1brandi-2016Girl, Born August 2007
brain malformations, bilateral hearing loss, significant cognitive delays, heart condition strabismus, anemia

NEW PHOTO!!   Brandi is a beautiful 9 year old girl. She is listed with bilateral hearing loss, but can definitely hear, as she will turn around and look for the person calling her name, and does respond to commands given if she chooses (if she doesn’t, she screams/attempts to run/swats at the caregiver). Cognitively, she is very delayed, more like a toddler, in ability to understand what’s going on around her, and in her responses, and appropriateness. She also has strabismus in both eyes, and has both a heart condition and anemia. She does NOT have CP, nor microcephaly. She does have brain malformations, significant developmental delays, and many stimming behaviors that are typical of lower functioning autism. She is completely nonverbal.

Families interested in Brandi should be aware that she appears to have autism, and that it impacts her significantly. She is a “runner” and will bolt and run unless contained or restrained and potential families need to be aware that this is common in autism, and that they will need to take appropriate measures to keep her safe in a home and family. She has a history of aggression when changes occur, such as a move, or unexpected event, which include biting peers and adults, and she struggled for at least a year after her last orphanage change four years ago, but is doing better now. However, as many with autism thrive on routine and predictability, families need to be aware that she may handle a transition poorly, especially at first. She has excellent mobility, and is very typically sized for a normal 7 year old in weight and height, and when she resists, it is challenging for a grown woman to hold her back. She has been in a school for the deaf, however, she knows no sign language nor does she read lips. She is very much in her own world in many ways. She enjoys music and will sometimes clap, but remains disconnected from the group and does not interact with adults (was not seen with peers).

Brandi attempts to smell/lick everything that is handed to her and when she realizes it isn’t food, she is not typically interested. The nannies report that she has an excellent appetite, and that she enjoys eating. She stims by rocking, throwing herself back and forth, sucking all four fingers on her hand, grunting, and moaning/shrieking. She walks with a lurching gallop. She flaps her hands often. A potential family should be aware that she has no awareness of danger, no fear of strangers and is very much like a very young child emotionally and cognitively, but physically is strong and very mobile. She currently takes psychiatric medications to assist in sleep and behavior.

She is a lovely little girl, with beautiful blond hair and clear complexion. She is in a good orphanage where she is well cared for. Families need to research autism, and be comfortable and familiar with caring safely for a child with the issues mentioned above, in order to provide Brandi with a safe, loving home.

$10,179.30 100% of your giving -- up to the original grant amount ($10,681.29) -- will go to Brandi, to help rebuild her grant

Mental delays. Down syndrome, cardiopathia. Umbilical hernia. Convergent squint.

Listed:  October 4, 2012

Paige had previously been living with her mother until she lost her rights.

She can sit independently and can crawl! Her speech is not well developed but she can partially understand what you are saying.  She has a very short attention span.

Update June 2013:
Lovely Paige has hair now!  She broke my heart.  She was just sitting on the couch rocking back and forth and didn’t respond at all when I came over to her. Poor, sweet thing!! The nannys love her, but she needs more than they can give. I am not sure if the move was hard on her or what but she just rocked and rocked.

shayla june 2013Girl, born 2004
Diagnoses: deep mental delay. Cerebral paralysis- double spastic form, microcephaly. Strabismus, divergent squint, and Optic atrophy. First degree anemia.

Listed: October 4, 2012

Sweet little Shayla could tremendously use a family and medical attention to help her thrive. She has already been living in this orphanage for 3 years and risks soon having to be transferred to a place where adoption will be next to impossible.

Her speech is not well developed, she holds toys in her hands for brief periods of time (but she sure does love to hold stuffed animals!), she has a reaction when you say her name but she is not able to communicate back but she smiles. She walks with support- can”t walk independently. Children in this orphanage need families! They do not receive enough interaction/therapy to help them thrive. They are seen as hopeless but we know that is not true!

Update June 2013:
This is not a great picture [on the right] but she would NOT sit still. She was wanting to move!! She thought it was so funny and would not stop laughing and rocking back and forth about the camera. The nannys also were laughing with her- her laugh and happiness is very infectious.

Lauren is a super-sweet and active little girl.  She is very social and affectionate, and will do well in a family setting.

As with all children living in these difficult conditions,  this child’s cognitive development has regressed significantly since he/she was younger.  It is of crucial importance that any family considering the adoption of an older child from the mental institution setting be well prepared for what to expect with regards to how the neglect and lack of adequate medical care and nourishment has affected this child.    These children all have TREMENDOUS potential for improvement, and deserve to have a life outside these four walls.

From a family who met him, Sept 2012:  Alexei is really a handsome guy and I think he knows it! He was playing ball with his groupa and is very active. When he was given a cookie from us he said thank you appropriately and made perfect eye contact. He will be a joy to any family with sons at home!

Guardian Angelchrystyna2015-croppedGirl, Born 2002

SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!!

Listed: August 7, 2010

Chrystyna is a beautiful, brown haired, brown eyed girl who deserves a chance at a better life!  Her official orphanage papers say she has developmental delays/difficulties from birth, but nothing more specific than that.  It is possible she has FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome).  Her biological mother  was deprived her parental rights in December 2004, and the biological father is not known.  Chrystyna has so much potential, and will be a precious gift to any family who adopts her.

Chrystyna is already living in an institution, so we need a family for her right away!

UPDATE:  God has been watching Chrystyna.  She was recently transferred out of the institution into a wonderful facility, where they teach these children, work with them, and they appear very well cared for.  The difference in the few girls who were transferred OUT of the institution is incredible!   Please give these girls a second chance for a loving family!

If you are unfamiliar with FAS, please spend some time researching this condition.  Just as with Down syndrome, FAS and FAE have a wide variation of effects on each child, both medically, physically, and cognitively.   This is typically dependent on how long during the pregnancy the mother consumed alcohol, and of course, how much.   There is no way to know this ahead of time.

From a family who met her, Sept 2012:
She is getting settled into her new environment. She seems to be very comfortable in her groupa. She is very beautiful and still has a lot of potential.  She deserves a chance!

From someone who met her, June 2013:
During the music performance, she was constantly stimming really fast (like it looks like she is being fast forwarded) and after they finished she was taken out by a nanny. Not sure what is going on with her;  If interested families want to see the videos they are welcome to! I know a family tried to take pictures of her last year but couldn’t get a good one because she moved so much!

Listed: October 29, 2012

Soleil comes very highly recommended from the orphanage director. She has shown great progress since she entered the orphanage.

She is running out of time — a family must be found for her before she turns 16!

Update June 2013:
Soliel really stands out.  She is a helper. She was helping the younger children stand up and dance and they were watching her to mimic what to do. She seems to be one of children that helps the orphanage staff as she is able to follow directions. She can read and speaks very clearly when asked questions. It is unclear why she is in this specific orphanage and they pointed her out specifically as needing a family! She is a very sweet girl who said she has dreamed about having a family but isn’t sure if she will ever have one- it just about broke my heart. There is also video available with her in it!

Information from the family who adopted her close friend:

According to our daughter she is very sweet, she is neat (as in keeps things organized and clean), she loves to help, and she was a very loyal and good friend. I do know that after a while, the way she was treated at the orphanage caused her to cry often and thus they sent her to a different school. My daughter was similar and is doing wonderfully … her aunt has gone to see her once or twice and worries about her condition there.
