Ava and Mia

Ava MiaSisters age 5 and 3

Gorgeous girls!

The older girl has a malformation in her hip. She walks, she runs, but she does have a noticeable limp.

The younger girl has been diagnosed as having ‘small eyes’. Some children with this problem are blind but she can see. She runs and plays and a casual observer would not think that she has a vision problem. But, up close you can see her turning her head to the side and really concentrating when she wants to see something.

Armando

Armando (4) Armando (3)Armando

This little guy is about six years old.  He was found abandoned in 2009 and police were unable to locate his family.

He’s been diagnosed with Down syndrome and is developmentally delayed.

He is described as a cute boy and he likes to play with his peers. He knows some simple words and understands and follows some instructions from adults. He needs a family who can provide him with the love and support he lacked in his early life.

Update June 2013:
Our family met this little guy in January 2012 & then again in January 2013. He is a sweetie. He is very independent and very mobile. I chased him all around the playground. He loved the games on our iPhone’s & enjoyed looking at pictures. He understands adults and is very loving. We were told he goes to a kindergarten school. He is super bright, a loves to laugh. He definitely has the stubborn, “I’m not done playing on your phone” attitude typical with our little DS lovies. He was very loving & really enjoyed our teenage girls & our younger boys. I think he would settle in easily into a family. This orphanage is very organized, structured and he is blessed to be there. BUT HE. NEEDS. A. FAMILY.

Laramie was an abandoned child weighing about five pounds at birth. He has a very small head that is abnormally shaped. He has a problem in his neck where his head is pulled to the side and back towards his shoulder which may be torticollis. He will likely need physical therapy for this. He may have a visual impairment, but this has not been determined for sure.

Diana

Diana 2013Diana 2013-001Diana, she is 9 years old and is HIV positive and cannot talk. It is currently unknown why she doesn’t speak.

She is such a happy kiddo!  She really is darling.

Update June 2013:
Diana is a very very lively girl, she’s always moving, running around. She does not speak, just one word and this is “JAGU JAGU JAGU” but I am convinced she understands EVERYTHING! When I am sad she sees it and puts her arms around me. When she does something wrong and you are angry she understands. When you say “go away” she goes. Diana is very thin but she has so much power. She is always always hungry and always looking around for some food.   The mothers don’t have enough time to care specific for one kid so most oft he time nobody recognizes what they are doing. If somebody would tell Diana what to do and what shes not allowed she would understand. She is clever. And I think needs more food. I don’t know if she has maybe problems with metabolism. But she needs special medication because she’s HIV positive. Diana is a lovely girl and if she would get more attention she would be even more lovely.

David

David 126Boy, born October  2002

This handsome boy was abandoned shortly after his birth.  However, his mother returned for him soon afterwards and ended up giving him to an orphanage where he has lived ever since.

David has what may be permanent damage to his optic nerve. An accurate determination of just how much he can actually see cannot be made given the limited diagnostics and expertise available in-country. He has never attended school due to his visual handicap. He is an otherwise healthy little boy.

Elias

Elias turned 3 in June but is still very much a baby in his development. He has significant cerebral palsy and seizures. He needs total care. He is fed through an NG tube but we hope he will be getting a g-tube soon. Elias is in an excellent orphanage where he receives loving care from his caregivers. He receives physical therapy and is adored by the staff. He has a hard time tracking with his eyes but when he does get a chance to focus on you or a toy he lights up with a huge smile! He loves to be held, talked to and played with. He cries when you put him down.

The agency has additional pictures and video available.

  • His orphanage will require a Christian family who can provide a letter of recommendation from their pastor. Interested families will need to send a letter of introduction to the orphanage and have their homestudy approved by the orphanage social worker before being able to be matched.
  • Families with six or less children at home preferred but we can inquire about an exception
  • Couples must be married at least 1 year and one parent at least 21 years older than the child being adopted
  • One parent over 25 years old.

J.J.

JJ 2013Boy, born August 2008

J.J. is one of the sweetest little boys you will ever meet, and has no place to go but up! He needs a family excited about meeting him where he is and giving him every opportunity to shine.

It is believed that J.J. has spina bifida and hydrocephalus. He does not walk, but scoots around the orphanage where he lives. He is social and enjoys being part of any activity happening at the home. J.J. cannot receive the treatment and care that he needs in his country.

Update June 2013:
JJ is one of the most uncomplicated kids I know. He is never complaining about anything. He’s sitting the whole day on his pot because they say he can’t control when he needs to go to the toilet because he’s lamed but I am not convinced of this, I think he can really train this because I tried to train it with him and he was getting better. He’s not really walking because of his crossed legs but he’s so so fast in a kind of crawling. And he tries to walk. He comes to me, holds my hands and he‘ s able to walk somehow. His legs look terrible. I think when he gets a family he needs to be operated again. I just know they operated him several times in Kampala. JJ is very good in keeping himself busy when he is alone. Sometimes I observe him and he’s singing or talking with himself but he is not mentally disabled. He’s the first who knew my name when I came last year. He understands everything and he speaks. He just needs attention like all the kids do. Always when he gets attention he’s the happiest person in the world, and his eyes are always shining. He’s motivated to walk. He’s motivated for nearly everything. He will melt anyone’s heart. He really is a clever and loving little boy.
