JOSHUA and DAVID for the Maas family — KY

Pic 2 Nov 2013 (2)Dang Sheng LongDarren & Rebecca have been married for 17 years. In 2005 God began impressing upon them the frugality of trying to live the “American Dream”. The Maas had built a large home and filled it with nice furniture. They were a two income family with two children and a dog. While pregnant with their second child they began to think about the future and what that would look like. They did not like what they saw. Rebecca never wanted to work full time but would need to work to pay for the comfortable lifestyle. So Darren & Rebecca began to make drastic changes in their lifestyles. They sold their large home and bought a smaller one that they could afford on one income. After their son was born Rebecca did not return to work but stayed home to raise their family. A few months after their son was born they began the adoption process in China.

In 2007 Darren & Rebecca completed their first adoption of a beautiful little girl from China with a cleft lip and palate. After seeing first-hand the need of the children in the orphanages to have forever families, the Maas made the decision to never limit the number of children they would have but to allow God to lay children on their hearts that needed a family. Since then Darren & Rebecca have adopted seven more children. Six of the children the Maas have adopted have medical and/or physical special needs.

Darren & Rebecca are in the process of adopting two boys from China, whom they have named Joshua and David. Joshua is 5 years old and has Cerebral Palsy. Joshua is also very malnourished and likely has other medical needs. David is 3 years old and has a hand/limb difference, and likely a genetic disorder which affects other body systems. David is also very malnourished. Due to both boys current medical and nutritional needs they have been granted an expedited adoption. They began the adoption process in September 2014 and will likely travel to complete the adoption in January 2015. Their total adoption costs are $45,000. Before they can travel to pick up the boys they need to raise the remaining $30,000 for final agency fees and the in country travel fees and expenses.

MARIELLA for the Karrick family — GA

mariella-2014-update4_20141104164511830Steve and Ginger were married in 1995.  Between 1995 and 1997 they had two biological children.  also they began looking into adoption in 1997 and knew that they wanted to adopt.  In 2000 they had their third child.  It was in 2004 when their third child was diagnosed with an auto immune disease.  That is when the Lord placed on their hearts adopting children with special needs.  It wasn’t until January 2008 when the Lord led them to a little girl’s picture that they had fallen in love with and knew this was their daughter.  So in June 2009 they brought their sweet Kimmie home from China.  Nine months after being home the Lord led them to Libbie’s picture and they knew that She was part of the family.  So off to China once again.  Once home Ginger started advocating for several children in China.  She found Opal on an advocacy blog that was shutting down, they fell in love right away.  After advocating for Opal continuously and praying for a family to find this sweet little girl they realized a family had been found…and the family was them.  It’s been two years since they’ve adopted.  They are happy to announce they are adopting again.  The little girl they are adopting is named Mariella.  She is six years old.  She has some undiagnosed medical needs, she has been unable to eat properly due to her condition and her health is deteriorating.  Because of her medical condition they are hoping to expedite her adoption.  They can not wait to have their precious little girl home in their arms.  Any donation would be a blessing and appreciated very much and an answer to their prayers…getting their girl home.

LENOX for the Lawson family — KY

LawsonAmanda & Michael married young and have been married 8 years now. While they were dating they talked about having a large family and knew adoption was going to be a goal for them. In 2009, after years of infertility treatments, Amanda & Michael found out that they were expecting a little boy. The day they found out, at 4 months along, they found out that their sweet boy had a congenital heart defect and his chances of survival were slim to none. The couple fought for their baby who they named Logan but sadly he was stillborn at 40 weeks. This loss took a great toll on the family and they realized that their dreams of a family was fading as well.

It was almost 4 years later on Valentine’s Day 2013 that the couple laid eyes on their next beloved child, Lenox. The couple had finally decided to meet with an agency to see how to prepare for the process and what was involved. They never dreamed God would put a child in front of them that very day. Amanda & Michael have been in love with Lenox since the moment they laid eyes on him and have worked diligently to bring him home from his Asian county.

It is now that they are ready to travel the couple can no longer find funds to finish. The couple has taken out loans, fundraised, and applied for grants but it simply hasn’t been enough to travel to get their sweet son. Lenox is 3, has been in an orphanage his whole life and he has several medical needs. It is important to the Lawson’s that they travel in a timely manner so that Lenox can get therapies, proper medical treatment and of course love from a mommy and daddy!

THEA for the Williams family — MO

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAdoption has been heavy on my heart for the past few years but has always been a hope since I was young. After a year of researching and praying over the souls of so many children to have a family, the only thing that stood in the way was myself. I feared that even though God had placed this desire in my heart that I would never be able to gather the resources to pay for the process of adopting a child in need of a family to nurture them and lead them towards His love. But as soon as He placed this precious little girl in front of me I knew I could no longer let fear stand in the way of moving towards the promise God had for her: a family, our family.

As a single mama to one beautiful little girl, I am so joyful to be able to start the journey towards adopting another beautiful soul.

MAUREEN for the Walter family — TX

MaureenShawn and Lola Walter have two beautiful little girls ages 3 and 6. In the early part of 2014, they felt God tugging at their hearts to add another girl to their family. This time they were led to adopt a special needs child and came across the Reece’s Rainbow website, this is where they found “Maureen” and the lives of this whole family would change forever. They instantly fell in love with her and knew she was the one for their family. International adoption is not an easy process, there are a lot of documents and it is quite a lengthy process to finally get approval from the USCIS and Eastern Europe, but after a long road of jumping through many hoops to please everyone, they finally received all the approvals needed to travel to Eastern Europe. Shortly after the approval came, they received heart crushing news, the baby girl “Maureen” whom they loved so dearly, prayed for daily and had a room ready for, was not legally ready for adoption. This news was devastating and left them sad, confused, and with the feeling of their hearts being ripped from their chest. What were they to do now? While praying to God for answers as to why she was taken away from them and mourning her loss, they were presented with another baby girl whom they accepted and traveled for in June 2014. She was successfully brought home August 6, 2014. As soon as they met her, they knew they made the right choice to adopt a special needs child and still today she blesses everyone in the family daily. It was a hard road as she only weighed 12 pounds at 11 months old and needed open heart surgery which was performed October 2014, just a few short weeks after getting home. The surgeon is world renown for pediatric surgery and is the top in his field, he told the Walter’s it was a good thing they brought her and she was able to get the surgery needed, as she would have deteriorated and eventually died. She now weighs almost 18 pounds, sits on her own and is trying to crawl. She laughs and giggles with her big sisters and is growing and thriving!! Shortly after their baby girl had open heart surgery, they learned that “Maureen” was now legally ready for adoption and they prayed all the time she would find a good loving family. But after weeks passed and passed by, Maureen was still available and still tugging at their hearts. Then they found out the region Maureen is located in has horrible living conditions once she is transferred at the age of four and she would be guaranteed a death sentence if she remains. The Walter’s therefore decided they needed to bring her home where she belongs. This time the approvals were already in place, but the expenses to make a second trip and pay the fees for a second time are going to be tough, since so much money has been spent on the first trip and on out of pocket expenses for the open heart surgery. Little Maureen will need open heart surgery as well, once she arrives home to repair her heart so she can grow and thrive. They are trusting God to provide the money needed to bring Maureen home. If you are reading this and find it in your hearts to help bring this beautiful baby girl, who deserves a loving family and proper medical care, home, your tax deductible donations would be much appreciated by this family and mostly by the baby girl who will benefit from it. God bless you!

JOAQUIN for the Spence family — KY

Joaquin (1)Back in 2002, Lynn was raising her two children and going to the University. One afternoon she received a phone call from her sister, who was on a work trip in Nevada. Her co-worker John was with her at the time. John picked up the phone and began to chat with Lynn. They discovered a similar sense of humor and many mutual interests: hiking, kayaking, traveling, books, music, etc. History was made.

Fast forwarding several years, after being a family of four, with two growing children, their family grew even more and they were blessed with 2 more wonderful children. Their family now includes four extraordinarily bright, talented and loving children including a son (20) in college, a daughter (15) and two younger sons (7 and 5). With their oldest son enjoying success in college and getting out on his own, the time seemed right to try to fulfill a dream of trying to help a child in need.

As a teenager, and after reading of the struggles of Eastern European orphans, Lynn dreamt of being able to help, to be able to give them the life that every child deserves with a loving family. John, who has an adopted cousin, was on board with the idea. Both John and Lynn believed that no child should be denied the basic things we often take for granted. Loving parents, a supportive family, education, and good healthcare, in a place where people with disabilities may enjoy every opportunity.

In their search, it only made sense to reach out and try to help a special needs child, one of many such children all too often overlooked by adoptive parents because of the potential challenges they may bring. Little Joaquin was challenged at birth with Achondroplasia , a common form of dwarfism. He also has minor heart defects, and developmental delays, most likely for institutionalization. He will need continued monitoring for hydrocephalus (water on the brain), and orthopedic problems that are common with his condition.

Joaquin touched their hearts from the moment his sweet little face showed up in their search. The more that they learned about him, the more that they realized how very well he would fit in to their family. If already felt as though Joaquin were a part of the household. Gage, the youngest in the family wrote Joaquin a poem about how much he loves him. Matthew the next oldest is trying to find the perfect spot to put Yoan’s firetruck bed. The older children just cannot wait to meet their baby brother. The whole family is excited and anxious to help bring him home to his “forever family”.

Now, John and Lynn are trying their best to expedite Joaquin’s adoption. He has already been an orphanage for too long. He is behind in his development and needs to come home to bloom and flourish. John and Lynn’s desire to speed up Joaquin’s adoption are further fueled, by the knowledge, that in Bulgaria, when a child turns 4 , they will most likely be transferred from the “baby” orphanage into one for all older children. Imagining the fear a child would go through leaving the only people he has known to go to a whole new orphanage, John and Lynn decided to do whatever they could to try to avoid that and to make his next move be to their family instead.

Please join them along their journey to give Joaquin the life, love, family, and opportunities he deserves. Any help with fundraising and prayers to allow them to complete this process before he has to move again would be greatly appreciated.  Blessings from our family to you and yours.

WHITLEY for the Graham family — SC

graham-77The Grahams are a family of six living in South Carolina. Simon and Kelli have been married for 14 years and it was this summer that the Lord placed a burden on their hearts to pray for a bright-eyed, sweet-smiling girl in a pink skirt and purple tights. “Whitley” is six years old and deaf.

The journey they are on is one that they had never imagined for themselves, but the Lord is providing all needs as they step out in faith. Kelli is a former sign language interpreter and flight attendant turned homeschooling mom while Simon works hard for the family. They enjoy time together at home and with their fabulous family and friends as well.

They look forward to traveling to Poland to bring “Whitley” home in late Spring of 2015.

BOONE for the Myers family — SC

Boone update 473 (2)Billy and Suzanne have known each other since high school.  They reconnected a couple of years after graduation and have been together for 10 years, married for eight.  They have been blessed with two wonderful biological children, ages four and two.  They always felt a calling to adopt but never knew where to begin.  They were introduced to RR and instantly fell in love with a sweet two year old boy.  They were so excited to bring this little guy home.  While working on their home study, they received a devastating phone call.  Their beautiful boy had passed away.  A void was left that no child could ever fill.  Even though they continue to grieve over the loss of their son, they knew God was still calling them to adopt.  They came across this adorable two year old and could not take their eyes off of him.  After prayer and deep consideration they decided to begin pursuing adoption again.

We are excited to meet and bring our beautiful son home.  We cannot get enough of his pictures and videos.  We treasure the day we get to meet and hold this wonderful gift from God.

JUSTICE for the Scriven family — CO

JusticeScrivenWe are the Scriven family. We have two biological little girls, three and six, and recently adopted our 14 year old son Luke from China four months ago.

We were in the adoption process for almost three years. For two of those years we were geared up to adopt a baby from the special needs waiting child list. Little did we know there would be no baby in our future, instead we fell in love with a 13 year old boy, and it was the BEST decision we ever made as Luke is joy and light to our family.

We thought we would wait a couple of years to help Luke bond and settle into our family, and then possibly adopt a baby. Once again, a baby is not in our future, nor is waiting. 13 year old Cole (who was listed as Justice), Luke’s best friend from the same orphanage, has stolen our hearts. We first ‘met’ Cole back when were making the decision to adopt Luke. We thought Cole seemed like such a sweet boy and were sure someone would adopt him quickly. Cole must be adopted before May 1st before he ages out and is no longer eligible for adoption. We never in a million years would have thought we would go back to China so quickly.

Luke and Cole have similar special needs. Both boys have heart conditions are small, each only coming in at 4’ 3” inches. How amazing is it that God put these two boys together with similar conditions, who are best friends, and then moved our hearts to adopt BOTH of them!

We could use all of the support you are willing to give. We cannot gather the funds to go back to China by April this quickly to adopt Cole after Luke’s adoption without your help. If you donate, please know that we appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for helping these two boys to reunite, for Cole to have a family, and get the medical attention he needs.

EMMA GRACE for the Brook family — FL

emmagraceThe Brook family has had quite an eventful past few years! Isabella (Haliegh on RR) was adopted from Ukraine and home in 2012. Seven months later they adopted Kolya, (Tucker on RR), also from Ukraine, he was home in 2013. Also in 2013 Dawn’s oldest daughter Tiffany, married another Reece’s Rainbow family’s brother! Life has been eventful and beautiful the past several years! Dawn and Rich both said many times they were done with adoption and they would both just pray, share and give when they could to help other families in process. Then, a little girl’s picture and story showed up on their computer screen, and they knew it was time to go again. She also has that special “something” just like Isabella, and the joy that comes from having a child with Down syndrome is really a blessing. This little girl has waited so long for a family of her own, and she deserves to have one! You can follow them on their blog at

KENDALL, DILLON, and GIDEON for the Sotolongo family — FL

Kendall-2014dillon2014-4Gideon6The Sotolongo family recently adopted their son “Nevada” as named on Reece’s Rainbow. The Sotolongo’s have four other children all under 6 years old. Nevada’s first year has been nothing short of a miracle. He has undergone corrective heart surgery, which in his country was deemed impossible based on his condition. He is flourishing in a family, learning to sign words and perform daily tasks. He bond’s and interacts very well with his siblings. While adopting Nevada, the Sotolongo’s met a few other children at the orphanage that grabbed their hearts. When leaving, the Sotolongo’s already felt that they would be back. The Sotolongo family is very excited to revisit Nevada’s orphanage and leave with new additions to their family. The Sotolongo’s want to thank you for your support and prayer as they continue on this adoption journey.

CALEB for the Maas family — OH

Caleb updateDarrell and Angel met before either was in their twenties and married in August of 1995. Darrell is a Bio Medical Electronics Technician and Angel has a degree in Accounting. After a few years of marriage, they were blessed with their two biological children. Mason was born in 1999 and Madisyn in 2001. God placed it on their hearts to become foster parents around the time Mason was 9 and Madisyn was 7. In 2009, they attended the classes and received their foster parenting license with no intention of adopting. They just wanted to be a safe, healing home for hurting kids until they were reunited with their families. Little did they know that the decision to become involved in the lives of orphans was only the beginning phase of an amazing journey that God had planned for their family.

Darrell and Angel had two little boys placed with them in the summer of 2009. Austin and Alex are biological brothers and joined the Maas family forever when the adoption was final in 2012. In late 2013 they adopted their second placement, a sibling set of 5! After adding 7 kids to the family in a few short years, the couple said their family was completed….or so they thought.

God is amazing and knows that you can only handle so much at once. Never in a million years would the Maas’ have dreamed they would have 9 children, but they do! The nine children are: Mason (15), Joseph (14), Madisyn (13), Jacob (11), Austin (8), Alexander (7), Jaylie (6), Joshua (5) and Julia (5). God showed them that anything is possible with HIM! Angel saw “Caleb’s” picture on the Reece’s Rainbow sight a few years ago while looking at a picture of her now nephew. Scrolling down through the list, Caleb caught her eye because he looked so much like the son, Alex. “I can remember thinking that I would snatch him up if I had the money!” After running into Caleb’s picture a few other times over the last year, a few big signs that this adoption is God’s will, and a lot of prayer, they are stepping out in faith and calling Caleb their son. They are so excited to bring this little guy home!

OWEN for the Viljoen family — NC

Owen Mar 2014From the time they started planning their nuptials, Jacques and Tabatha Viljoen knew they wanted to grow their family with adopted and biological children. Fourteen months after they were wed, they were blessed to see two pink lines on a pregnancy test! In early 2013, they welcomed their son Hans into the world!

During her pregnancy, Tabatha felt there were other children somewhere in the world who belonged in their family. She prayed and prayed, without knowing exactly *who* she was praying for! Nine months after they announced they were going to pursue adoption, Tabatha was sent the profile for Owen. After sharing his information with Jacques, they decided that they wanted to make him a part of their little family.

In order to pay for the adoption, the Viljoens sold their first home in the city and bought a more affordable home in the small town where Tabatha grew up. Tabatha has also taken two temporary jobs in order to help bring their little boy home! Needless to say, this is a couple that believes that hard-work and dedication win the race!

The Viljoens are doing everything in their power to make Owen a member of their family, and greatly appreciate any help they receive along the way!

RENO and DARAH for the Maxwell family — ND

Reno 2014Ryan and Natalie were married June 2011, They planned on pursuing adoption soon after their marriage, but God had other plans. After only a couple months of enjoying their new married life, they got the surprise of a lifetime, Natalie was pregnant! Another surprise came when they found out about their bio son’s special heart. They did not feel qualified or ready to be special needs parents, but three open heart surgeries later, the young couple realized that the world of special needs parenting, although scary and painful at times, contained more beauty than they could of ever dreamed possible. When God began opening their eyes and stirring their hearts for special needs adoption, they were hesitant, but then Natalie found Reece’s Rainbow and laid her eyes on the most precious little boy with the deepest brown eyes. 10 months later they welcomed Ivan into their crazy family.

They knew they would adopt again and now one year after welcoming Ivan home, they are beginning the adoption journey again to bring two more beautiful children with special hearts into their family. Ryan and Natalie truly believe that EVERY heart needs a home and EVERY child deserves a chance. This young family has seen God level mountains before and they know He will be faithful again. Would you consider helping them bring these precious treasures HOME? Any gift you can give is an answer to prayer for this family and they thank you from the bottom or their hearts.

I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places. So that you may know I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name. Isaiah 45:2-3

DANIEL and the Davis family — CA

RRDavisBio2RRDavisBio1Ronnie and Kim have been married since 2009 and are the parents of a sweet 3 year old boy. A few years ago, they found their way to RR and fell in love with a boy they only saw a photo of. Immediately they knew they had to start advocating to help find a family for him. When they learned that many other children with dwarfism and various special needs were laying in orphanages across the world, God started leaning on their hearts that an adoption into their own family was inevitable. Then one day a picture of a little boy with dwarfism was placed in front of them, and they knew he was born for their family.

Now seeing their little one in person can’t come soon enough! He will be snuggled, and loved, and probably bossed around a (tiny) bit by his older brother.

They truly thank you for all your prayers and support. They will be forever indebted to anyone who helps Danny become a Davis!

SALLY for the Stum family — CO

Sally (1)Chris and Jennifer were married in 2010. They talked and dreamed about the size their family would be like many newlyweds do. Adoption was never considered an alternative for them but something they wanted to pursue in God’s time. Since then they have been blessed with three beautiful biological children (two boys and a girl). After their second child was born the real pull towards adoption started.

Jennifer found Reece’s Rainbow and began praying for children listed. Much time was spent by Chris and Jennifer researching many types of adoption and special needs seemed to pull at their hearts. When Chris was five he lost his foot in an accident. He has undergone many surgeries and therapy and today it does not hinder him. Seeing the life Chris leads and knowing the difference a family makes led the Stums to start looking at children with limb differences. Yet it still didn’t appear to be God’s timing. When they saw Sally they both knew that God planned for her to be their daughter. So, with much prayer and consideration the family stepped out in faith and started their journey of adoption to bring their beautiful daughter, Sally, home.

With God’s provision the Stums are excited to provide Sally with a loving home, the knowledge and love of Christ, and the care and support she needs to overcome the many obstacles she will face. Chris and Jennifer feel very blessed to be able to add Sally to their family and are very thankful for your prayers and support.
