MARGIT for the Guarino family — PA

Margit_profileNineteen years ago, shortly after the birth of her special needs son, Nicky, Nancy knew she would someday adopt a special needs child.  Although life didn’t turn out exactly as planned, Nancy felt blessed to know the joy and inspiration that comes with parenting a child with Down syndrome and for many years, felt the tug at her heart to bring another child into her family.  Initially considering domestic adoption, Nancy stumbled onto the Reece’s Rainbow website and immediately knew she wanted to adopt one of the beautiful children listed.  It didn’t take long for Nancy to fall in love with Margit and to know Margit was meant to be Nancy’s adopted daughter and Nicky’s new sister.  Nancy and Nicky are both thrilled at the possibility of sharing their happy lives with Margit and hope to liberate her from a life of institutional commitment.

Thank you to everyone who is able to help Nancy and Nicky rescue Margit from a life in an institution and bring her home to her loving forever family.

LEAH for the Marenco family — CA

MarencoDanny and Sara met in college. Danny was going to be a pastor. Sara was going to be a doctor. They both enjoyed each others company, sense of humor, and love for Christ. A few years, they became boyfriend and girlfriend. A year later they decided to get married. Danny became a teacher and Sarah went to law school. After Sara had her first child, Michelangelo, she knew she wanted to stay home to raise her beautiful baby. Throughout their 18 years of marriage, they added three more beautiful children, a total of three boys and one girl. Danny has been teaching for many years. However, God is calling him back to the ministry. Therefore, he runs the Men’s Ministry at his church, preaches in different churches, and will start his M.A. in Pastoral Ministry in the near future. Sara and Danny enjoy having a loving God centered home where their children can be encouraged, loved, and trained in a Godly home.

Sara’s sister decided to adopt a beautiful down syndrome baby from the Ukraine through Reece’s Rainbow this past year. Although Sara and Danny have wanted to adopt for a long time, seeing Sabrina adopt a child, really made them think of adopting a child. Danny and Sara found a beautiful hearing impaired girl and would like her to be part of their family. Rosalia, their daughter, is very excited to have a new sister. The whole family is excited to have Leah as part of their family. Danny and Sara were very concerned of never having enough money for the adoption. However, after seeing so many families walking on faith, they decided to take a leap of faith. Come home Leah, come home…you have a family that loves you. Danny and Sara would like to thank everyone for their support and showing your great generosity as they embark in this beautiful journey.

SIMON for the Blake family — NC

SimonWes and Karen Blake will have been married seven years come August 2013. She has been a school teacher for 13 years while he is currently studying to be a Paramedic. They have been happily and lovingly caring for their four animals over the years, hoping that one day they would have a baby. Adoption had been something that they had discussed almost right from the start, but they never quite seemed at peace with the process. As the years passed, with no successful pregnancies and still not quite ready to move forward with adoption, they lived a quiet, peaceful life together. Until one Saturday morning while breathing heavy on a cardio machine next to her friend at the Y, Karen was told about Simon. He was a 15-year-old boy in Eastern Europe who desperately needed a home. Throughout the day, thoughts of Simon struck her randomly. When Karen finally told Wes about Simon, he was quiet for a moment before saying, “When can we go get him? Can I take him fishing? We definitely have a home for him.” Suddenly the adoption process was something they were ready to begin. It seemed overwhelming but they wanted to bring Simon home and be his parents. It is their hope that Simon will be their first adoption and that they would soon make him a big brother. They know many challenges lie ahead, but they know Simon will be an amazing son. Wes and Karen have faith and trust in the Lord and know that all of this is in His hands.

ANA and EZRA for the Schrecengost family — NY

Schrecengost siblings“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, he predestined us for adoption through Christ Jesus, in accordance with his pleasure and will.” ~Ephesians 1:4-5

This scripture is a favorite in the Schrecengost home. The magnitude of it…God CHOSE us! He alone has ordained the miracle of adoption by bringing each of us into His eternal family. That cost him the life of his son! We, too, must sacrifice to bring children into our families. Sam & Christy take that very seriously. They do not live a life of extravagance, but one full of love – for the Lord, for each other, for their family, and for the orphans of the world.

Sam & Christy met while in high school and started dating about a year after first being introduced. They were married in 1999 and have been blessed with four incredibly unique children – 2 the old fashioned way and 2 adopted from Ghana. After a devastating failed adoption in 2012, Sam & Christy weren’t sure if they could ever risk that heartache again. Thankfully, while still grieving, God brought a glimmer of HOPE to the Schrecengosts by way of a popular social networking site. A photo began circulating among Christy’s friends and some of her favorite orphan advocacy organizations, including Reece’s Rainbow. The photo was of a 13 year old girl and her 11 year old brother who were in urgent need of adoption. Both children have individual needs in addition to being tween/teen siblings, greatly reducing their already slim chances at finding a forever family. Christy inquired about the children from the agency they were listed with and she & Sam began praying for them. Over time it became clear that those beautiful children in Taiwan were a perfect fit for the Schrecengost family!

Sam, Christy, and the 4 children already in the home are over the moon excited about adding to their family! They are confident that after years in an institution, being welcomed into a loving, nurturing family environment is exactly what Ana & Ezra need to reach their full potential!

The Schrecengost family covets your prayers as they take this leap of faith. It will be through God alone that the pieces of this puzzle will come together. THANK YOU for your prayerful consideration of helping two very loved & wanted children become ORPHANS NO MORE!!

TREVA for the Scott family — ND

30520144727 TrevaDave and Stacy have been married for seven years and have four wonderful children ranging from 6 years old to 18 months. When they first met they knew that adoption was on their hearts and attempted adopting a little girl with special needs, but due to administrative difficulties, the adoption was unable to be finalized. Both Dave and Stacy wanted to use their talents to help children in need as they both had dedicated their lives to pursuing social justice. They did not give up on their dream to adopt and continued their passions for special needs children as treatment foster care parents in North Dakota. After giving their home, time, and energy to the foster care system, they decided to step away from foster care after their youngest son was born in 2011 in order to focus on raising their four children. They always knew, one day that they would love to adopt a special needs child, one specifically with Down Syndrome.

In Spring 2013, Stacy had multiple spontaneous conversations with others that included international adoption, all of which appeared to be a leading of God. Dave and Stacy had both prayed for the past seven years for God to lead them in seeking a special child to adopt and were both convicted that the time is now. Stacy stumbled upon Reece’s Rainbow and instantly fell in love with a little Eastern European girl named Treva. They both knew that she would be another arrow in the quiver of their family (Psalm 127:3-5). They are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the fifth addition to their family and are vigorously working to raise the funds to bring her home as soon as possible. We believe that every family deserves the blessing that a child with Down Syndrome brings and hope to raise double the money needed so that another family can have the opportunity to be blessed with a special child as well!

CAROLINE for the Tam family — LA

30603154931 Caroline (5)“Indifference makes excuses, but love, love finds a way.”

Love crossed an ocean to bring Paisley home from Russia in 2011. Now, almost two years later, Steve and Renee are being called again, but this time to Eastern Europe. The call, from a girl who simply reached out and in tears said, “Please help me find my family.” Her younger brother was adopted years ago while she waited, prayed, hoped that one day, she too would be FOUND, LOVED, CHERISHED. And our God, who hears every prayer, sent a call out across a community…..who will be moved, who will love this child like I love her?

We will, God, we will.

NETTIE for the Owens family — KY

NettieAnthony and Krystal have been married for close to nine years. To say that they hit the ground running, as far as parenting goes, is quite the understatement. Krystal opened her home for foster care for two years before she and Anthony married. As a matter of fact, Krystal was a foster mom to two beautiful blonde haired girls the day the two married. The story goes that when Anthony was told he had six months to complete his foster care training, after marriage, that Krystal made it quite clear that she and the girls were a package deal. He couldn’t have one without the other. Without hesitation, Anthony chose the full package and nine months later, those beautiful blondes officially became part of the Owens “Forever Family”. One month after that, their son Harrison was born and very shortly after that, Anderson and Karrington came along to complete the Owens’ family…..or at least that’s what everyone else thought. Although the Owens family was settled on the outside, there was still a stirring in their hearts to adopt, again. The Owens’ feel strongly that adoption is a mandate from God. They know that God has called His people to care for the orphans and they don’t take that lightly. Although Anthony & Krystal knew they would adopt, again, they always assumed it would be another domestic adoption. However, God began to burden them for the special-needs children, overseas. It is the desire of the entire Owens’ family to rescue as many orphans as possible from a life of uncertainty and shower them with love, stability, hope in Christ, and a future…as well as a momma, a daddy, three sisters, and two brothers.

HARRY for the Howell family —

photoSpencer and Michele have been married for 3 years and met on match.com. They have two amazing little girls named Grace and Emma, and originally planned to have just one more child. Then Michele found Reece’s Rainbow and that all changed. They both agreed that God is asking them to grow their family now through adoption, but at first they couldn’t agree on timing. Spencer really wanted to wait a few years for their girls to get a little older, but Michele prayed that God would move his heart in a new direction. Shortly after Christmas her prayers were answered when he said yes to a little girl in Russia. Sadly, the ban went into place at the same time blocking them from bringing her home. They agreed to wait to see what would happen and to go back for her if the country opens. While they were waiting Michele came across the profile of a baby boy in an Asian country with Down syndrome and immediately fell in love with him and Spencer did too. They can’t wait to have him home and to have a son. They feel truly blessed that God called them to him.

RUBY for the Eggimann family –

Ruby (1)Andrew and Andie have 4 kids, 2 biologically and 2 who were adopted.   Last August, God put two little girls on Andie’s heart.  They were both waiting children with special needs, but they were in two different countries, so Andie figured it would be impossible to get them both.  Especially since their family was “done” adding children.  As Andrew and Andie prayed, it became apparent that they were supposed to pursue the little girl, Kacey, in Eastern Europe.  Tragically, the adoption ban was signed the day their home study was complete.  In addition, their I-600A was returned on the same day, having wandered the postal system for 6 weeks and never arriving to it’s destination.  At that time, Andie wondered if God would have them eventually file the I-800A for the other little girl in Asia.

After months of praying and waiting, it became clear that there was no way forward with Kacey, due to their early stage in the process. Meanwhile the Eggimanns had a lot of funding, a home study, and God had moved all the obstacles to keep them from pursuing Ruby. They are brokenhearted and grateful all at the same time, but very much looking forward to welcoming Ruby into their family. They would appreciate prayers for Kacey, that she would feel the nearness of God and that He would provide a family for her. And for Ruby, that God would sustain her health and prepare her to be part of the Eggimann family.

IAN for the Kirk family — VA

SAMSUNG DIGIMAX A403Steve and Brooke Kirk have known each other since they were teenagers though it wasn’t until their twenties that the two became a couple. They were married in 2005 and welcomed their son, Nicholas, in 2006. Brooke’s pregnancy was complicated and Nicholas was born two months early with a host of complications, many of which the doctors did not feel lined up with his gestational age at birth. Nick spent 6 weeks in the NICU and came home with a g-tube and apnea monitor along with a list of follow up appointments with specialists and therapists. Later genetic testing would reveal that he had a genetic condition called a balanced translocation. The first year of Nick’s life had a lot of ups and downs but by 15 months he was walking, starting to talk, and no longer had his g-tube or any monitors though he continued to receive various forms of therapy through early intervention.

The couple has felt for a while that God was not done growing their family, but, fertility issues and the high risks of another pregnancy made the hope of having another child seem dim. About two years ago through a local homeschool support group Brooke met a couple that were adopting two little boys from Eastern Europe and her eyes were opened wide to the plight of the orphan. She discovered Reece’s Rainbow and quickly felt God break her heart for all of the waiting children. Steve was on board with praying, fundraising, and, advocating for the children but did not feel the same call that Brooke was feeling to adopt. Brooke signed up as a Prayer Warrior for a little boy who is now with his forever family then as an advocate for another waiting little boy. She continued to pray that when the time was right for them to adopt that God would break Steve’s heart the way he had already broken her’s.

Then in January of this year the same friend that first led Brooke to Reece’s Rainbow posted the picture and bio of ‘Ian.’ Immediately Brooke felt drawn to him and requested more information. She showed that information and Ian’s pictures to Steve who agreed to pray about it. Ultimately, just four days later after lots of prayer and research the couple made the joyous, and slightly overwhelming decision to move forward. Their family and friends are all excited to welcome this new child into the fold! Nick had always asked for a big brother but his Mama would tell him that he would be the big brother should a baby come. God must have been preparing Nick’s heart for his brother all along, because he is getting his wish, he will be the little brother by about 6 weeks!

The couple feels blessed to be in this process, however, every thing happened very suddenly with no time for them to prepare ahead of time for an adoption. But, they are working overtime to get paperwork done and funds raised to get their son home as quickly as possible. In all things they trust in the Lord’s provision and perfect timing.

“Do not be anxious about any thing, but in every thing, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

LYDIA for the Montgomery family — PA

LydiaSeth and Ashley Montgomery live in Western Pennsylvania and have been married for seven years. They have three biological daughters; Ava-7, Evelynn-5 and Adaline-4. Ashley and Seth always planned on having a large family. They were once again considering on growing their family when Ashley “stumbled” upon Reece’s Rainbow. From that moment on they were both in agreement that God was calling the continual growth of their family to be through adoption-specifically special needs adoption. Together they have decided to say “YES” to however many children God directs them to make part of the Montgomery Family. Seth and Ashley feel privileged that God has called them for such a special mission and are very humbled that it will only be possible with God’s provision.

LISA for the Pitcher family — MT

Updated Photo 2 - LisaThe heart is a strange thing. Some times it knows things that we are unaware of. And sometimes it is capable of more than we think possible. A year ago we were led on a journey neither one of us was prepared for.  We were matched to adopt and bring home a beautiful princess who seemed the perfect fit for our family. Our hearts melted when we held her, tickled her, and showed her pictures of the life she was soon to have. And our family was beyond devastated to learn that bringing her home was impossible, and out of our control. She is still our daughter, and we’ll wait. But we know that right now there is another child who needs a family. She deserves two big brothers to protect her, and take care of her. She will thrive with three sisters who will teach her to dance, play dress up, and bake cookies. She needs THIS family almost as much as they need her!  We once felt quite certain that our family was complete. And just as surely we now feel a void. We have chosen her BECAUSE of her special need, and knowing what a gift she will be to our family. We know that our Heavenly Father prompted our decision to expand our family in this way…and so we are again eagerly preparing our lives for the addition of one, very special, very loved, beautiful daughter of God.

HUDSON for the Settles family — WA

Hudson 2Stacey and Daniell met at a 4th of July gathering, they were immediately smitten with each other and married almost one year later. After 9 years of marriage they have three amazing little boys and are looking forward to adding another little one to their mix. Stacey spent the last 15 years honorably serving in the United States Navy as a Quartermaster. He has been on numerous deployments and enjoys his job. Daniell is a stay at home mom who spends a great majority of her time educating their children. When she’s not educating, you can find her snapping photos or creating something in the kitchen.

For over four years they discussed domestic adoption and even completed the training courses but Daniell got pregnant with their third child just as Stacey was leaving on a deployment, so they decided to wait. It wasn’t until Daniell went on a trip to pick up her best friend’s newly adopted children in Eastern Europe that her passion was reignited, Stacey followed suit soon after. What were idle discussions, turned into prayers and serious consideration, then in late October they started searching for a child they could add to their family. They found an amazing little boy in Russia and started the process, but no sooner did they start, Russia closed its doors. With heart break of Russia closing and their family facing a military move they decided to once again, put adoption on hold. They continued to advocate for orphans, support the families adopting and pray for them all. For Daniell, this included daily visits to the Reece’s Rainbow website to pray and oogle over all those sweet babies who needed families to love them. She couldn’t resist them, especially the smiling little face of Hudson, he called to her heart.

With their move edging closer Stacey and Daniell faced numerous decisions, including where to live once they moved and what to do with the home they own. They talked and came up with several different contingency plans, one of which was a plan for the family to stay behind until their home could be either rented or sold. But, none of their plans seemed to settle in their hearts as the right choice. So, as they do with all major decisions, they began to pray that God would show them which path to take. Don’t you know, without hesitation the Lord opened the door and shined the brightest of lights onto their path.  Their plans to adopt were back! They immediately knew that they could finally add Hudson’s smiling face to their family and love him as every little boy deserves to be loved.

Stacey is still scheduled to report to his new duty station in mid November, meaning this family needs to move quickly. Please, consider giving, praying and simply joining the Settles family on their journey to bring Hudson home.

SERGEY for the Harlin family — WI

What does God call us to do?  He has called us to open our hearts and homes for children in desperate need.  Brian and Laurie Harlin have been married for 23 years.  They have been blessed with 7 children, 3 biological and 4 adopted through the foster care system.  Currently 5 are at home and are excitedly waiting for a new brother or sister!  (Or maybe both!!!)  Brian and Laurie were foster parents for 6 years for medically fragile children prior to adopting.  Laurie has been blessed to be a stay at home mom.  She was formerly an elementary teacher.  Brian worked for a local company and is in the supply chain part of the business.  International adoption of a child or children with special needs has been placed on their hearts.  Brian and Laurie and the kids want to thank everyone in advance for prayers, words of encouragement, and support on their new adoption adventure!  Please also continue to pray for all the children waiting for a family and that God will move others to pursue adoption or the support of it.

“The Lord is good; for His mercy, tender kindness and steadfast love endure forever.”  Jeremiah 33:11

STELLA and LILY for the Adams family — NC

StellaLily (1)

Luke and Rebecca met in June of 2004, and after a whirlwind romance, were married just ten months later in April 2005. Family and children were of utmost importance and both pictured a larger family though number of children was never decided as they called themselves ‘one at time people.’ In 2008, they gave birth to their oldest son Micah. 2011 brought them their son Levi via domestic adoption. Though always wanting a larger family, in 2012 Luke and Rebecca both were feeling like their family might be complete. However, God had other plans, and it wasn’t many months later that God burdened their hearts for orphans, especially those with special needs and older children, and it became clear rather quickly that God was leading them once again to adoption. When Luke and Rebecca saw ‘Stella’ and ‘Lily’ they just know these girls were meant to be their daughters, and they will be going to Eastern Europe to bring ‘Stella’ and ‘Lily’ home to join them and the boys. They are excited about this adventure and journey that God has them on and appreciate your encouragement and support, both prayerfully and financially, as they prepare to meet their new daughters and expand their family!

30413212627 (1)Jon and Carly have been married for 6 years after meeting at Texas A&M and then falling in love while serving on a mission trip in Nairobi, Kenya, Africa.  Carly is a Pediatric Registered Nurse with a desire to advocate and care for children with special needs and medical conditions.   Jon also feels the tug at his heart to help protect and care for these amazing children with the same love and protection God has shown him.  They would consider it an honor to care for a child with Down Syndrome and are responding to what the Lord put on their heart (Nehemiah 2:12)! They are thrilled about adding this little guy to their family.

HUNTER for the Collicott family — NE

345_PhotoDoug and Lynda have been together almost 26 years, and are the parents to 6 children. The older two girls are out of the home with one married, one off to college, and the last 4 are at home. The ones at home are Katrina 14, Erikka 9, Andrei 8 (just adopted Feb 2013), and Riana 4. Lynda is adopted herself, and always has wanted to adopt due to that. Doug has family who has adopted, and so his heart was touched by it which opened his heart for expanding his family through adoption. While on the first visit for Andrei, and meeting with their foundation, mention was made of a little boy who was in a bad orphanage but had recently been transferred to a foster family. Their desire was conveyed to the foundation to please get the file of that little boy so that they could make him part of their family despite still being in process for Andrei. Two months later, their adoption agency notified them that they had the file of the little boy that they were interested in, but it was not with the same foundation. They talked it over and decided to go for it as they feel it’s what God wants them to do.

Doug and Lynda are very thankful that despite being deaf, they lead a very enriched life with their children. Their 5 bio daughters can hear, which made for some interesting times. However Andrei is deaf, and the little boy they are now adopting is also deaf. God truly places the lonely in families, and He knew what he was doing by placing Andrei and Brett in their family as now their language will flourish by sign language and actually understand that they have a mommy and a daddy who loves them.

Funding a second adoption so soon after bringing home Andrei this past February is very daunting, but any financial help no matter the amount would greatly be appreciated!

Father to the fatherless, defender of widows — this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families.

KYLE for the Anzaldua family — NC

kyleoct2012-croppedMark and Nuria Anzaldua, also known as Janeth, are high school sweet hearts which have been married for 8 years and have 4 beautiful children and one has Down Syndrome. Mark is in the Marine Corps, and has been for about 8 years and plans to make it a career and Janeth is currently a medical assistant/EMT. They are stationed in North Carolina, but have orders to relocate to California next summer. Mark and Janeth did not plan to adopt but somehow ended up on Reeces Rainbow looking at the pictures of all the children that are in need of a family. Searching through the older kids pictures they saw this little boy that resembled their son so much and could not help but feel this overwhelming sadness in their heart for him. From that point on all they did was think about him, and how he would fit perfectly in their family. Without thinking twice they decided they need to bring him home. He was going to be an Anzaldua! God was telling them this was their son and they needed to save him, to bring him home where he belongs, not in a mental institute.

Mark and Janeth, as well as their children, are very excited to bring this little boy into their family and give him the love he deserves.

NEVADA for the Sotolongo family — FL

NevadaRicky and Monica Sotolongo have been married for almost 6 years, and have 4 beautiful children. For some time now God has placed a burden for orphans on their hearts. A few years ago then decided to move on their passion and hosted a child from Eastern Europe for Christmas. It was during this time that gained a love and passion for Eastern Europe and its children.

Since then the Sotolongos have hosted several times and volunteered with a couple hosting programs, all of which work with Eastern European children. Even though working with hosting children is great, the Sotolongos still felt the call to adopt. After years of prayer and consideration, they felt God show them the green light to go.

Through the support of a sweet friend, Ricky and Monica came to know of “Nevada”. Shortly after seeing him for the first time the Sotolongo’s decided to pursue this sweet boy. Ricky and Monica are very excited to begin their God adventure and so are their children. The two Sotolongo boys are excited to have a new brother to share a room with.

Even in the short time since making the decision to adopt the Sotolongos have experienced God’s love and provision. They realize that God loves children and those who are children of God hear and listen to His voice. God is calling his children, whom He has redeemed and adopted, to rescue the lost children of this world. Ricky and Monica feel privileged that God is using them to redeem a child and pray that others also heed the call to adopt.
