KYLE for the Anzaldua family — NC

kyleoct2012-croppedMark and Nuria Anzaldua, also known as Janeth, are high school sweet hearts which have been married for 8 years and have 4 beautiful children and one has Down Syndrome. Mark is in the Marine Corps, and has been for about 8 years and plans to make it a career and Janeth is currently a medical assistant/EMT. They are stationed in North Carolina, but have orders to relocate to California next summer. Mark and Janeth did not plan to adopt but somehow ended up on Reeces Rainbow looking at the pictures of all the children that are in need of a family. Searching through the older kids pictures they saw this little boy that resembled their son so much and could not help but feel this overwhelming sadness in their heart for him. From that point on all they did was think about him, and how he would fit perfectly in their family. Without thinking twice they decided they need to bring him home. He was going to be an Anzaldua! God was telling them this was their son and they needed to save him, to bring him home where he belongs, not in a mental institute.

Mark and Janeth, as well as their children, are very excited to bring this little boy into their family and give him the love he deserves.

NEVADA for the Sotolongo family — FL

NevadaRicky and Monica Sotolongo have been married for almost 6 years, and have 4 beautiful children. For some time now God has placed a burden for orphans on their hearts. A few years ago then decided to move on their passion and hosted a child from Eastern Europe for Christmas. It was during this time that gained a love and passion for Eastern Europe and its children.

Since then the Sotolongos have hosted several times and volunteered with a couple hosting programs, all of which work with Eastern European children. Even though working with hosting children is great, the Sotolongos still felt the call to adopt. After years of prayer and consideration, they felt God show them the green light to go.

Through the support of a sweet friend, Ricky and Monica came to know of “Nevada”. Shortly after seeing him for the first time the Sotolongo’s decided to pursue this sweet boy. Ricky and Monica are very excited to begin their God adventure and so are their children. The two Sotolongo boys are excited to have a new brother to share a room with.

Even in the short time since making the decision to adopt the Sotolongos have experienced God’s love and provision. They realize that God loves children and those who are children of God hear and listen to His voice. God is calling his children, whom He has redeemed and adopted, to rescue the lost children of this world. Ricky and Monica feel privileged that God is using them to redeem a child and pray that others also heed the call to adopt.

ELLIETTE for the Wetherington family — FL

Elliette (1)Jason and Stephanie have been married for almost 14 years. They have been blessed with 5 incredible children: 9 year old Koah, 5 year old Abigail, 2 year old Max, 2 year old Ryder, and their son Isaac. They had always talked about adoption, but it wasn’t until they lost their 18 month old son, Isaac, to heaven last year that they decided to do something about it. Their son, Isaac, was born with many special needs including a very severe heart defect. Losing him was the hardest thing they have ever been through. He was such an incredible blessing to their family, and they loved every second of taking care of him. After they lost Isaac, they knew that they had enough love to bring another child into their family, but this time through adoption like they had always talked about. Because of the joy that Isaac brought to their family, they wanted to adopt a child with special needs. Last October, they brought home their two sons from Ukraine, Max and Ryder. Ryder was born with Down Syndrome and Max was born with a complex heart defect. The two boys have brought so much joy to their family, and God has truly created beauty through their pain. Shortly after returning home from adopting the boys, God began breaking Stephanie’s heart for the older children…those who had never been chosen… those who had been waiting so long for a family, but had been passed over time and time again. They saw Elliette’s profile on Reece’s Rainbow and fell in love with her. She was due to age out next year, at which point she would no longer be eligible to be adopted. Never would they have ever imagined that they would be bringing home a teenager. In fact, after returning home from Ukraine, Stephanie said that she would never, ever adopt an older child. Apparently, God must have found great humor in her statement. They are so excited and can’t wait to bring their daughter home to her family where she belongs. But, they know that they cannot do it without God’s help and your help. Thank you for helping make Elliette one less orphan!

STEVE for the Smith family — WA

SteveJoel and Alicia met in late 2004, and were married just over a year later on the beautiful island of Kauai. After a few years of living a relatively quiet life in North Bend, WA with their 2 huskies, they welcomed their daughter Brenna in 2010. A surprisingly short time after that, they brought home their son Evan in 2011.

Joel was happily working in the energy efficiency field while Alicia worked from home on the online toy store she owns with her mom and sister, and they thought their family was complete. Then in early 2013, they both felt that God was leading them to look into international adoption, and they soon found a little boy that stole their hearts! Now they are hoping and diligently praying that this little man from China will soon make them a family of 5.

DAMION for the Rafferty family — NC

DamianChris and Traci met at a coffee shop in Raleigh, North Carolina. As they started talking they realized they had criss-crossed the country, from Montana to Alabama and back, before they both moved to Raleigh for school. After this first meeting they were merely acquaintances for a couple years until they got to know each other more when they both happened to move to Turkey for jobs. As their friendship bloomed into love they realized their mutual travel wasn’t the only thing they had in common. They both cherished other cultures and people and both loved God and desired to serve Him with their lives.

They got married and had two precious daughters early in their marriage. With a desire for more children, they felt the Lord was directing them to adopt. To be honest, Chris was ready before Traci. It wasn’t that Traci didn’t like adoption, she was just fearful that she wouldn’t love an adopted child as much as she loved her biological children. After much prayer and counsel they desired to follow what they believed God was leading them to do and start the adoption process. The first adoption was lengthy and difficult but God used this to get Traci’s heart ready. When the adoption was finalized in January of 2012 they were both eager to welcome their Bulgarian son, Alex, into their family with their whole hearts.

It’s been a little over a year now and they feel the Lord leading them to adopt another child. They were praying about this when they learned about Damion through a fellow church member who is finalizing an adoption through Reece’s Rainbow. When they saw Damion’s information Chris and Traci knew immediately he was to be part of their family. Within two days they had filed the necessary paperwork to begin the process of bringing him home.

A while back Damion wrote a letter to his future family, “I want to have a family because I love the family. I would love to have a mummy and a daddy who I will love.” (Then he signed it to make it official.) Well, Damion will not only get the mummy and daddy he greatly desires but will also have two sisters, a brother, and the dog he said he wanted. Don’t you just love when a story has a happy ending?!

VYTAS and ZINNIA for the Seay family — PA

20617213503 Vytas (4)zinniaapril2013-1Brian and Cortney met in 2007 when Cortney was a student at Penn State involved in the campus ministry Brian worked for. Before they got married in 2011, they both had a heart for adoption and knew they wanted to adopt children.

Eventually the Seays decided that they would like to adopt their first child, prompted by God’s call to care for orphans. But they never would have imagined being parents to children with special needs. While adoption was on their minds for quite a while, this past year God opened their eyes to the needs and blessings of children with special needs through Reece’s Rainbow and the blogs of families who have adopted through Reece’s Rainbow.

After months of praying and discussing it, they finally decided to take the plunge, initially one but then two children. It broke their hearts to think of leaving one of these little ones behind…to see them at the same orphanage and leave them there. But then they heard the exciting news that they were eligible to adopt BOTH children!

They’re looking forward to many adventures ahead as they welcome Zinnia and Vytas into their family! Brian and Cortney would appreciate your prayers for them, and especially for Vytas and Zinnia, throughout the whole adoption process.

GABRIEL for the Elkins family — TX

OJoLynn has dreamed of adopting children since she was a teenager, even before she dreamed of marriage. She just couldn’t imagine a child being tossed aside due to poverty and illness, and there being no one there to pick the child up. She knew God had laid it on her heart to love the abandoned. Charles had thought of adoption as something he could see in his future, and once they were seriously involved, Charles was 100% in agreement when JoLynn told him she wanted to adopt, regardless of how many biological children she had. Charles and JoLynn were married in 2007 while Juniors in college. In 2008 they welcomed Isak, their bundle of joy, and in 2011 Malkolm, their child of peace came into their lives. But 2009 and 2012 left Charles and JoLynn heartbroken from miscarriages. They felt like there were “gaps” in their family, and while those children could never be replaced, they felt that their family was smaller than it was supposed to be. Feeling a gentle urge from God, they moved up the time table to adopt. JoLynn assumed that International adoption was a distant dream, something that would happen after their children were older and they had fostered and adopted domestically. But when doors refused to open for foster/adoption, a simple phone call “for more information” quickly led to an email with the file of a little boy . Twenty photos and a small, sad life summed up in a few paragraphs shook their hearts in a powerful way- a little boy who had never known a mother’s kiss or felt a father’s embrace had waited for someone to come his entire life. They could not walk away. Charles and JoLynn already consider “Gabriel” their child, and their sons are excited that they will soon have another brother.

“Gabriel” is 3 years old, and lives in an Eastern European orphanage that has been his home since the day he left the hospital. Born premature at a very low birth weight, he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. He also has Strambismus and a handful of other easily-treatable conditions. Even with the minimal therapy he receives, he makes great strides towards better control of his limbs. He has moderate institutional delays, but once in a family environment, he is expected to improve greatly. But whatever the case, Charles, JoLynn, Isak and Malkolm cannot wait to give him the love he has missed out on for so long.

Your prayers and support will be greatly appreciated. While they are planning on paying a great portion of the costs out of pocket, the Elkins will need to raise approximately 1/3 of the cost of their adoption.

GARY for the Horton family — OR

Gary 158 OD“Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me” (Matthew 18:5)

Don and Lauren Horton live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest (Oregon) with their five adopted children and their much loved foster son.
They are blessed to have three grown children living nearby, as well as three fantastic grandchildren!

Their adoption journey began in 1999 with the adoption of a beautiful baby girl with Down syndrome. This opened the Horton’s eyes to the joy and beauty and the lessons to be learned from children that others view as “different”. Their next three adoptions brought them children with a variety of special needs who light up their lives and the lives of those around them.

They returned home just this past November with their fifth adoption….a four year old girl with Down Syndrome who weighed just ten pounds. With lots of love and the proper nutrition Sophia has blossomed. She is a true joy.

The Hortons have been blessed with the opportunity of adding another son to their family …a seven year old boy with limb difference. The thought of this child never having a mama and daddy to tuck him in and night, never running errands with daddy in his big truck, never camping and swimming and playing ball with his brothers and sisters…..was heartbreaking. They could not turn their backs on him.

Funding a second adoption less than six months after Sophia’s is daunting. Any financial help no matter the amount would be greatly appreciated!

“Once our eyes are opened we cannot pretend we do no know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, knows we know and holds us responsible to act.” Proverbs 24:12

TOMMY for the Knuth family — NE

Tony_0911Ten years ago, Grace never would have believed she would one day be a single, adoptive mother, let alone a mother to two children with special needs. But God, in His goodness and wisdom, has filled her life with challenge, purpose, and LOVE.

Grace is blessed to be on staff at her home congregation. She serves the Lord as a disciple who makes disciples who makes disciples of Jesus Christ. What she likes best about her job is that God does all the work! For four years she has been given a front row seat to watch Him draw people to Himself and make them new.

That same mighty, life-changing God has also been at work in Grace’s heart and home. He is continually proving Himself strong and faithful on her behalf. His best and most miraculous work so far was in the recent adoption of her first child, Samantha Love. Sam came home last year from an orphanage in Eastern Europe where she was abused, neglected, and unloved. Both mother and daughter have been changed forever by the miracle of her redemption. Now, with room and love to spare, Grace knows it is only right that she extend that love to another child.

“Tommy” has been living in Sam’s former orphanage for 13 years. It’s time for his miracle. His redemption! Grace and Sam cannot wait to bring him home.

Adoption is a spiritual battle field. If you believe in the power of prayer, Grace would welcome you to join her in praying for “Tommy”, his orphanage, and this adoption process. And if you are so led, she and Sam would be blessed by your partnership in raising “Tommy’s” ransom.

HOGAN and MITCH for Drew and Alyssa — TX

30117083111 (2)30220154627Drew and Alyssa met in the summer of 2007, when Alyssa volunteered at Drew’s workplace. They started dating soon after and have been together ever since. Even before their marriage in early 2011, they had already discussed how adoption might play into their future. Alyssa spent the summer after her graduation from high school living and working in an orphanage in Nicaragua, and knew from that experience that God would one day make adoption part of her story. Drew agreed that he was open to adoption, but neither one of them could have prepared for where this journey would take them.

In November of 2012, Alyssa and Drew traveled on their first adoption trip. Meeting their “Little Man” absolutely changed their lives! Before they could complete the adoption however, Little Man’s country banned all adoptions to the US. The Pittman’s don’t know how long it will be until they can go back, but they will be overjoyed when the time comes. They think about their sweet son every day.

Over the past couple months, they felt God telling them that some of their other children were ready to come home. And boy were they surprised when they felt their hearts being pulled toward TWO sweet older boys. Alyssa and Drew are excited that God has called them to start their family in such a unique way, and they can’t wait to see where the rest of their journey leads. They are very close with their families, and everyone is anxious to meet the two newest members!

KAMDYN for the Breen family — VT

Kamdyn April 2013Bill and Missy have been together for about 12 years. From the beginning of their relationship, Missy was very honest that she felt that adoption was in her future. Slowly, the idea grew on Bill. Missy found Reece’s Rainbow in 2006 and was immediately smitten with all the children and often wondered if she would ever parent one of the angels listed there. Marriage finally happened in 2010 and nine days later, they had their first homestudy visit. Forty weeks to the day from that visit, Bill and Missy were in Serbia meeting their son Vladan, who happened to be an “other angel” on Reece’s Rainbow. Their second son Fuad, also from Serbia, joined their family in 2012. Both of the boys have exceeded all expectations in their development and are brothers through and through. Because the boys were doing so great, Missy began asking God, in late 2012, if it was time to add another child. She wanted a little girl this time, but it seemed like God was telling her to wait. Waiting is not one of her favorite things, but she trusted that feeling. In March, Kamdyn was listed again with Reece’s Rainbow and it was Bill that said “let’s go get her.” Missy knew that the Lord was using her husband to answer her prayer. Although they thought their 3rd child would come from the same country as their boys, they are happy to follow God’s leading and are excited to bring Kamdyn home.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.” Prov 3:5-6

DENNIS for the Francisco family — CA

dennisapril2013-3David and Julie have been married for 15 years and have four children ranging in age from 4-11 years old. Their third child, Andrew, was born with Down syndrome. He has brought abounding joy to their family and helped them to see the world in a new way. Good friends of the Francisco family, Joel and Marianne Fick, made them aware of Reece’s Rainbow as they traveled to Eastern Europe to bring home their own bundle of joy, Darya. Once David and Julie were made aware of the plight of orphans with Down syndrome around the world, a desire grew to help the fatherless.

The Franciscos have been blessed by the Reece’s Rainbow family and are thankful for those who have been advocates for “Dennis” along the way. They rejoice in Psalm 10:17-18 which says, “O Lord You hear the desires of the afflicted, You will strengthen their hearts, You will incline your ear, to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed”. They look forward to having “Dennis” in their arms soon where he can grow up with his siblings, be loved and hit the beach in sunny San Diego with his new family!

DONALD for the Claus family — OR

Donald March2013 (12)Josh and Chelsea met at a small church as teenagers, dated for nearly 5 years and have now been married for 8 years. They now live right around the corner from the church where they met and have four beautiful biological children, ages 6 and under.

Chelsea has wanted to adopt since she first heard, as a little girl, that there were children in the world who didn’t have families. Josh agreed that adoption was important but wasn’t yet convinced that it was for their family. When friends of theirs adopted a child with special needs from an Eastern European country, their eyes were opened to the plight of the orphan, especially those with special needs across the globe. Their eyes could not be shut, and Chelsea began advocating for waiting children through Reece’s Rainbow, and became a prayer warrior for several orphans. God started to speak to both Josh and Chelsea about adoption. Through much prayer they came to believe that their family was called to adopt, but they didn’t know who or when. Well, God provided them with the who. A sweet little boy with Sotos Syndrome had snuck into their minds and stolen their hearts. Once they knew who they should adopt, that also answered the question of when. NOW! :)

They are stepping out in faith to rescue this precious child from his orphanage in Eastern Europe. Adoption is redemption, and redemption is costly. Please help them give this very deserving little boy a forever family who will treasure him always.

A CHILD for the Wallace family — FL

Willy and Ines are parents of five children , their three older boys already out to college . At home they have their son Daniel and daughter Lucia ,both four years old.  They adopted their little princess Lucia (the only girl!) from Eastern Europe in October 2010 and they fell in love with their daughter’s birth country, its people and culture.

The decision to adopt again have been prayerfully considered by the Wallaces during the last 12 months . Willy and Ines feel that they have been led by the Lord to adopt a “little boy” from Eastern Europe with cardiac deficits.   They don’t know for sure how severe this little boy’s medical status is right now ,but they believe in God’s perfect plan, and they are certain that he will thrive under US Medical Technology combined with the love and care of his forever family!

Their 4 years old son Daniel made it very clear when he said to them: “If we go find him and bring him home with us ,he will have mommy and daddy ,and his heart won’t be broken anymore!” ,…. as easy as that!, and we are up to the challenge!

The Wallaces will be blessed and honored if you join them in prayer as they work as diligently and as fast as possible to bring this little angel to his home, where he belongs!

“And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me”
Mathew 18:5
..”You are the helper of the fatherless. LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart ; You will cause Your ear to hear , to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of earth may oppress no more”

CAMDEN for the Miner family

Camden update 2013In 2007, Aaron and Danielle moved from Pennsylvania to St. Petersburg, Russia, where Aaron teaches science at an international academy. They have been married for almost 14 years and have two girls, ages 7 and 4, and a son, who is almost 2. They have been thinking about adopting a child since before their first daughter was born, but it never seemed like the right time. God had placed the idea in their hearts, but the doors were never quite open… that is, until now! This time, as Danielle searched for information about adopting a child, she came across Camden’s picture. Almost immediately, they felt a connection to him, and after much prayer and discussion, they felt sure that God was saying, “This is the one, and now is the time!” At first, their girls were hoping for another sister (of course!), but now both are excited to have a new brother join the family. With the Lord’s help, the Miners desire to provide this precious boy with the love, family, hope, and future that he might otherwise never know.

WILSON for the O’Donnell family — OR

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADaniel and Nicole have six kids, the youngest three they recently adopted from Uganda. They always knew adoption would be a big part of expanding their family, and they had discussed adopting an HIV+ child after learning more through project hopeful and doing research on how many children are simply waiting for a loving family. With access to proper medication these beautiful children can live a full and healthy life. So many people do not understand all of the advances made in treating HIV and this weighed heavily on their hearts. Prior to completing their previous adoptions, they had seen Wilson’s photo on Reece’s Rainbow. The similarity to their 9 year old son was so striking that they were immediately drawn to him. As they continued finalizing their adoptions of their girls, they found themselves hoping and praying this sweet boy would find a family too. They loved him already, and pictured him in their family, but they felt it unfair he was still waiting. They wanted someone to see what a treasure he was and claim him as their son, even if it meant he would not be in their family. Once their three new girls settled in and their family was firmly planted in their new groove, they decided to look and see if Wilson had found a family. It broke their hearts that nearly a year had passed and still he waited. They thought of him daily and decided to ask for more information. It has been said that rarely will an update be received in a timely manner, if at all, in a lot of the children’s cases, but less than 24 hours later they had more information. Enough information to take a leap of faith and shout out loud that they wanted to bring sweet Wilson home! The entire family is in agreement and busily preparing for his arrival.

SERAPHINA for the Meyer family — GA

Sarah has always wanted to be a mother, she knew she wanted to adopt and wanted to raise children with special needs. Growing up in a family where she got to witness children come and go through the foster care system, arriving alone, learning to be a part of a family, and leaving to spend the rest of their lives with a new forever family, was such an amazing experience. Even as a teenager, she knew that she wanted to give children that feeling of belonging to a family, when they had none. Now as an adult, she is ready to take that step.

Sarah had been looking into adoption and following waiting children’s stories for quite some time when she first saw and fell in love with a little girl on Reece’s Rainbow. She knew instantly that this little girl was meant to be her daughter and committed to bring her home, but this past January, the country where this little girl was born, closed it’s doors to American adoptions. Sarah still feels committed to that little girl, but acknowledges that God is in control of this journey and after lots of consideration and prayer, she is moving forward to give another child the love of a mother and hopefully, down the road, the joy of a sister. Sarah has fallen in love again, with another sweet girl known as ‘Seraphina’.

Bringing ‘Seraphina’ home is truly a blessing. She will be loved and cherished by everyone who meets her and already holds a very special place in Sarah’s heart. Your prayer and financial contributions towards ‘Seraphina’s’ journey home, is truly appreciated.

SUSAN, EDMOND and LUCY for the Dobrovits family — IL

007It started with Henry. We brought him home in September of 2011 at the age of 1. He was very sick and had a much more severe and rare disability than was originally thought. We loved him through ICU admissions and surgeries and therapies and learning how to eat and clap and laugh. He was our precious youngest of 7 and the treasure of our entire family.
He died on November 28, 2012, a few months after his 2nd birthday.

We grieved. We knew his short life made a difference from the hundreds of emails and cards and Facebook and blog tributes to him. We knew he changed us.

Now God has shown us our next adventure. Not to replace Henry. Never that.
But to give AND receive love and family in a different way. To a sibling group that DESERVES to stay together…
with a baby girl whose who needs a little extra help to figure out exactly what help she needs.

We are up for the challenge and we know Henry is cheering us on from heaven.
Thank you so much for your prayer and financial support to help us bring ALL THREE home.

VANESSA for the McFall family — TX

30407104440 Vanessa (3)Lance and Kallie McFall have been married for 3 years and have 2 wonderful fur babies. A Red Heeler named Koda and a Blue Heeler named Hank. Lance is a Firefighter and Kallie refers to herself as a domestic diva!

Early on in their dating relationship, they knew that they wanted a family and thought that adoption might be something they would pursue after having biological children first. But God had better plans in mind. In early 2012, they both began praying and asking the Lord to show them how he wanted them to start their family. After coming across Reece’s Rainbow and scrolling through the pictures, Kallie felt the tug on her heart and suggested the idea of special needs adoption to Lance. He agreed that he felt the Lord calling them to adopt. After looking through the pictures and profiles on Reece’s Rainbow together, they came across a sweet girl named Jessa. They committed to bringing her home and were in the home study process when the ban in Russia came into law. After praying about the future of their adoption, they felt that the Lord leading them to another country. After deciding to switch to the a different program they found Kenna who had recently been listed on RR. They cannot wait to make her their daughter!

Kenna was taken  home by her birth family, so the McFalls will be bringing home Vanessa!
