FRANCINE for the Wassink family — MO

Francine Photo 2 March 2014Once upon a time, in the wild land of Montana, there lived a young boy named Chad. He grew up with two brothers and loved playing sports and exploring the mountains around his home. There also lived a young lady named Whitney who grew up in the land of Kansas, far far away. Growing up among the wheat fields, she played sports along with her brother and sister and helped around the house. Little did Chad and Whitney know, God had a very special plan in store for them.

Among many other pursuits, each of them learned to throw the javelin. Each having shown a talent for the sport, a college recruiter named Robert whisked them off to the exotic land of California where they met for the first time. Competing together for the track team, they fell in love and were married in September 2000.

They had many adventures together over the next years and moved to the land of Oklahoma, where they decided to start a family of their own. They were blessed with a son, Finley (now 6) and a daughter, Delaney (now 4) before moving again. They settled in the land of Missouri, a short journey to the east of her home land.

It was at this time that God started to open their eyes to the very special path that he had in store for them. He blessed them with another son, Grady (now 2). Now Grady would prove to change the course of their lives forever. He opened their eyes to a world that had been around them all along, but they had never truly seen. Grady, you see, had Down Syndrome. Grady, and this newly discovered world brought untold treasures and blessings into their lives. But God was not finished yet.

Over the next years, God opened their eyes to lands across the vast oceans that had countless children like Grady, that were without families. They were not seen as another of God’s precious children, but as outcasts. As mistakes that were not worthy of love and were to be discarded to the edges of society. But what Chad and Whitney saw were thousands of amazing children who had been made in God’s image, with his loving hand crafting each of them just as he meant them to be. Children, whose potential and gifts could be unlocked through simply giving them the loving family that they so desperately wanted and deserved.

One little girl touched their hearts and they knew that God was calling them to travel across the ocean to a far off eastern European country and bring her home as their daughter. They knew they couldn’t help all of the children, but they could give this one child a life and allow her to become who God had created her to be. But the ruler of this distant land would not allow them to come. They were heartbroken and pray to this day for the situation to be put right.

Time passed and Whitney continued to watch the children on Reece’s Rainbow, wondering when the time would be right. After being blessed with another son, Kelby (now 8 weeks), the day came when they knew. They saw another little girl, Francine. God gave them a peace that day, for she was the one that was meant for them. For that moment, all of the excuses, hesitation, and fear melted away and they knew that the time had come. God was calling them down this path, and they had faith that He would provide the strength, wisdom, courage and endurance to meet the challenges and obstacles to come. Only God knows what is to come for their family, but as this beautiful journey unfolds, they would appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

ANIBEL for the Vogelzang family – MI

AnibelAdam and Carin have been married for 17 years and have 5 amazing children ages 13, 11, 8, 5 and 4. Their youngest child, Pearl, was adopted from China in 2013. She has Down Syndrome. Carin imagined she would adopt children when she was a child. She also wanted to mother a child with Down Syndrome. Sometimes, dreams do come true!

Adam and Carin live an alternative lifestyle due to Adam’s job as a Foreign Service Officer for the US State Department. Their family has lived in 5 foreign countries over the past 11 years. These experiences have opened their hearts and minds to the issues of poverty and orphan care.

Carin worked in an orphanage in Mexico and taught a music class in an orphanage in Armenia. Adam volunteered at an orphanage in Russia. Together, they are trying to live out their faith in Christ and show others that each child has infinite worth and value.

They are now pursuing an adoption for a second daughter from China with Down Syndrome. They fell in love with her beautiful smile the minute they saw her picture. The entire family is very excited to add a new sister.

We are humbled and grateful that God would allow this chance once again.

MARIELLA for the Karrick family — GA

mariella-2014-update4_20141104164511830Steve and Ginger were married in 1995.  Between 1995 and 1997 they had two biological children.  also they began looking into adoption in 1997 and knew that they wanted to adopt.  In 2000 they had their third child.  It was in 2004 when their third child was diagnosed with an auto immune disease.  That is when the Lord placed on their hearts adopting children with special needs.  It wasn’t until January 2008 when the Lord led them to a little girl’s picture that they had fallen in love with and knew this was their daughter.  So in June 2009 they brought their sweet Kimmie home from China.  Nine months after being home the Lord led them to Libbie’s picture and they knew that She was part of the family.  So off to China once again.  Once home Ginger started advocating for several children in China.  She found Opal on an advocacy blog that was shutting down, they fell in love right away.  After advocating for Opal continuously and praying for a family to find this sweet little girl they realized a family had been found…and the family was them.  It’s been two years since they’ve adopted.  They are happy to announce they are adopting again.  The little girl they are adopting is named Mariella.  She is six years old.  She has some undiagnosed medical needs, she has been unable to eat properly due to her condition and her health is deteriorating.  Because of her medical condition they are hoping to expedite her adoption.  They can not wait to have their precious little girl home in their arms.  Any donation would be a blessing and appreciated very much and an answer to their prayers…getting their girl home.

THEA for the Williams family — MO

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAdoption has been heavy on my heart for the past few years but has always been a hope since I was young. After a year of researching and praying over the souls of so many children to have a family, the only thing that stood in the way was myself. I feared that even though God had placed this desire in my heart that I would never be able to gather the resources to pay for the process of adopting a child in need of a family to nurture them and lead them towards His love. But as soon as He placed this precious little girl in front of me I knew I could no longer let fear stand in the way of moving towards the promise God had for her: a family, our family.

As a single mama to one beautiful little girl, I am so joyful to be able to start the journey towards adopting another beautiful soul.

photo fwbutton150.png31209225022 IveyEric and Jasmine met in high school and quickly became close friends. After two years their friendship blossomed into a relationship and the couple was happily married in 2007. Adoption had always been on their hearts, and more recently special needs adoption. The family is blessed to have Jasmine working as a full time homeschooling mom and Eric works from home 4 days a week so taking children to appointments is much easier to manage. They currently have 4 children with at home, a son (7) and daughter (4) born in Ethiopia, a daughter (5) born in Utah and a daughter (2) born in Hong Kong.

After having read through many of the child profiles, Eric and Jasmine felt God leading them to adopt again. Over their last 4 adoptions they have learned to trust more and more in God’s leading and are taking a leap of faith as they pursue adopting an older child. RENO and DARAH for the Maxwell family — ND

Reno 2014Ryan and Natalie were married June 2011, They planned on pursuing adoption soon after their marriage, but God had other plans. After only a couple months of enjoying their new married life, they got the surprise of a lifetime, Natalie was pregnant! Another surprise came when they found out about their bio son’s special heart. They did not feel qualified or ready to be special needs parents, but three open heart surgeries later, the young couple realized that the world of special needs parenting, although scary and painful at times, contained more beauty than they could of ever dreamed possible. When God began opening their eyes and stirring their hearts for special needs adoption, they were hesitant, but then Natalie found Reece’s Rainbow and laid her eyes on the most precious little boy with the deepest brown eyes. 10 months later they welcomed Ivan into their crazy family.

They knew they would adopt again and now one year after welcoming Ivan home, they are beginning the adoption journey again to bring two more beautiful children with special hearts into their family. Ryan and Natalie truly believe that EVERY heart needs a home and EVERY child deserves a chance. This young family has seen God level mountains before and they know He will be faithful again. Would you consider helping them bring these precious treasures HOME? Any gift you can give is an answer to prayer for this family and they thank you from the bottom or their hearts.

I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places. So that you may know I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name. Isaiah 45:2-3

ADELINE for the Bearce family — MA

Adeline (3)Heather and Stephen are pleased to announce that they are adopting a sister for Zee!

Their little family has been through a lot! Stephen and Heather’s first baby girl was stillborn and the grief that followed was unimaginable. Having a baby after a loss is called a ‘rainbow baby’ to show the beauty after a terrible storm, so it only made sense to look to Reece’s Rainbow to help heal their hearts and build their family.

Heather found a beautiful baby girl on Reece’s Rainbow and was convinced that she was meant to be her daughter. Much to their surprise, after teams of doctors told them they would never conceive another baby, Heather found herself pregnant for a second time with a baby girl! After an emotionally difficult pregnancy, Heather gave birth to a healthy baby last December. Their story does not end there! You see, the beautiful baby girl that is listed as Adeline on Reece’s Rainbow had worked her way into their hearts and Heather and Stephen felt very strongly that she was to be their daughter!

Please consider adding to their account, any amount is helpful.

EVAN for the Orta family — GA

Evan March 2014 Christie and Raymundo met in June 2000 while they were both living in Hilton Head, SC. It was a chance meeting that changed their lives forever! Two people who probably would have passed each other on the street and not given it a second thought, were now on a path that neither would have predicted.

Raymundo (Mundo) was born in Mexico and always had a passion for learning English and traveling to the United States. When the opportunity arose to come to the US, he seized it! The hardest part of the trip was leaving his family. However, they were (and still are) very supportive of his dreams and urged him to go. Christie is also from a loving family and, at the time had been moving around the country working for Marriott.

Skip ahead almost 14 years later – Christie and Mundo have been married for 11 years and have biological daughter named Laura. Laura is 7 years old and in the 1st grade. Christie now works for the public school system in Savannah, GA as a special education teacher and Mundo works within the hospitality industry. They had been thinking of expanding their family for several years, but wanted to do it through adoption. They both felt that there were too many children who were already here in this world that needed a home and a mom and dad to call their own. They thought of fostering to adopt and made several attempts through the local social services, but it just wasn’t the right time or place.

In September, Christie welcomed a new student into her classroom who had been recently adopted from Ukraine. After getting to know his family and learning about the conditions that children with disabilities face and the grim outlook for their future if not adopted, Christie felt the calling to find a child for she and Mundo. Upon finding Reece’s Rainbow and searching for children with Down Syndrome, Christie and Mundo found Evan! After much discussion, tears, and prayer, Christie and Mundo made that first step to bring Evan home to live with them. Their daughter, Laura, is beside herself with excitement and cannot wait to be a big sister! Every day she talks about the things that she is going to teach Evan to do.

The Orta’s believe that they were led to Evan and that God is calling them to adopt this sweet boy into their family. Many fund-raisers have taken place with LOTS of support from friends, family, and the community! They have loved getting updates on his progress and seeing his pictures as he has grown the past several months. However, no update or picture could ever take the place of holding your child in your arms. They are anxiously waiting for the day when they can board the airplane to bring their son home.

CALEB for the Maas family — OH

Caleb updateDarrell and Angel met before either was in their twenties and married in August of 1995. Darrell is a Bio Medical Electronics Technician and Angel has a degree in Accounting. After a few years of marriage, they were blessed with their two biological children. Mason was born in 1999 and Madisyn in 2001. God placed it on their hearts to become foster parents around the time Mason was 9 and Madisyn was 7. In 2009, they attended the classes and received their foster parenting license with no intention of adopting. They just wanted to be a safe, healing home for hurting kids until they were reunited with their families. Little did they know that the decision to become involved in the lives of orphans was only the beginning phase of an amazing journey that God had planned for their family.

Darrell and Angel had two little boys placed with them in the summer of 2009. Austin and Alex are biological brothers and joined the Maas family forever when the adoption was final in 2012. In late 2013 they adopted their second placement, a sibling set of 5! After adding 7 kids to the family in a few short years, the couple said their family was completed….or so they thought.

God is amazing and knows that you can only handle so much at once. Never in a million years would the Maas’ have dreamed they would have 9 children, but they do! The nine children are: Mason (15), Joseph (14), Madisyn (13), Jacob (11), Austin (8), Alexander (7), Jaylie (6), Joshua (5) and Julia (5). God showed them that anything is possible with HIM! Angel saw “Caleb’s” picture on the Reece’s Rainbow sight a few years ago while looking at a picture of her now nephew. Scrolling down through the list, Caleb caught her eye because he looked so much like the son, Alex. “I can remember thinking that I would snatch him up if I had the money!” After running into Caleb’s picture a few other times over the last year, a few big signs that this adoption is God’s will, and a lot of prayer, they are stepping out in faith and calling Caleb their son. They are so excited to bring this little guy home!

ABBI for the Noll family — FL

AbbiJoshua and Sara met at a small Christian college. They soon got married and had 4 biological children. They had always known, as a couple, adoption and/or fostering children would be something they would do in the future.

The Bible says in James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” They are blessed with the love of children and believe adoption is one way God wants them to fulfill this command. There are so many kids that need a loving family, they want to provide that to as many children as they can. But they had no idea God had wanted them to take the leap to adopt when their kids were so young. But they are trusting God and moved forward to adopt.

In 2012 they took the leap and started the process to bring their son and daughter home from China and came home on Thanksgiving day of 2013. They know the ups and downs and ins and outs of bringing home a child who has special needs and suffered loss, and while they agree that it is not easy, the lessons they learned from watching their children thrive despite such obstacles has been amazing!

Once again they have felt God move them to bring home another child.

Sara has grown up around children who are deaf at different times in her life, and has seen what a chance at living a life like any other child, who is given the opportunity, can do for them. To see this sweet child, and know she is living in a world that she can not hear and is unable to communicate, all because of circumstances beyond her control, is heart breaking. They are both so excited about bringing home sweet Abbi and making her a part of their family and giving her every chance to thrive!

EVAN and RAYMOND for the Allison family — OH

photo fwbutton150.pngEvan and Raymond_Sept2014Jared and Jamie met and fell in love in high school. It was love at first sight and they were living their happily ever after with their three biological children when they found the picture of a sweet little boy who just happened to have Down syndrome. They hadn’t planned on adopting at all but his picture rocked their worlds! They leapt in and rushed full speed ahead to bring home Eli in 2012.

Even though Eli was in a good place, their hearts were forever changed when they saw the other children who had to be left behind and so desperately wanted a mommy and daddy too. Once Eli was home and settled, they committed to bringing home two more children who also happened to have an extra chromosome. The girls came home in Feb 2014.

The family settled into a daily routine and was happily trucking along when they saw another little picture that stopped them in their tracks. A sweet little set of brothers who just needed a Mama and Papa to call their own. So they leapt once again, and are so eager to bring the boys home forever!

This will be their third adoption (4th and 5th adopted children) in 3 years and any financial help is most welcomed!

MARGEAUX for the Duncan family — WA

girl18-margeaux-croppedWhat is it that, those of us who adopt, see in a picture of a child we have never met? It is unexplainable that we are so drawn to that picture that we put our lives on hold, begin a massive paperwork project, raise more money than most of us have ever had access to, and then leave our family and friends and travel half way around the world to bring a child home and commit to them for the rest of our lives?

Linda has pondered that question several times. She fell in love with 4 little girls posted on Reece’s Rainbow and went through the above process for each of them. This is in addition to 11 other children she adopted in the US.

This time seems more unexplainable because there was no picture, just the brief description of a young girl about to age out of the chance to get adopted with only a few more months before the door closes for her to ever have a family.

But the process has started one more time. One more “least of these” has been singled out from all others to become part of Team Duncan.

HARPER for the Nalle Family — VA

photo fwbutton150.png20419135635 Harper-croppedRob and Julia Nalle have been happily married for 22 years, and have two biological sons: 19-year-old Benjamin, who attends Liberty University, and 16-year-old Elijah. Five years ago, in late 2009, Rob and Julia learned about a 5-year-old boy named Aaron who was living with arthrogryposis (a.k.a. AMC), a condition that causes stiff joints and poor muscle development in the affected limbs. Even though Aaron’s difficulties were physical, not mental, he had just been transferred to an Eastern European institution for boys with severe mental disabilities. Unless someone adopted him, Aaron would never leave that sad place, except to go on to an even sadder one as an adult. Once Rob and Julia learned of Aaron’s plight, they decided to do whatever they could to bring him home.

Bringing Aaron home turned out to be as life-changing for Rob and Julia as it was for Aaron— for it opened their eyes to the tremendous suffering of institutionalized orphans all over the world. Aaron’s institution was the saddest place Rob and Julia had ever seen, filled with lovable boys who were living in desperate poverty through no fault of their own. The Lost Boys of Aaron’s world had neither toys, nor books, nor stimulation of any kind. They wasted their days in open sheds, doing nothing, seeing and hearing nothing, idly waiting for the next meal or snack time to arrive. After witnessing the Lost Boys’ sad plight, Rob and Julia committed to helping more of them find homes. Since bringing Aaron home in 2010, they have done their best to raise awareness and funds for special needs orphans overseas.

For financial reasons, Rob and Julia have been unable to adopt again until now. In timing that only God could design, the possibility of adopting again arose just as they finished an enormous writing commitment this fall. Adopting a little girl felt right to both of them, and seeing Harper’s sad little face sealed the deal. Although Harper’s special needs are different than Aaron’s, she needs a loving family just as much as he did. Rob and Julia are also excited about adding the first girl to their family. They are stepping out in faith to adopt Harper, trusting God to carry them through.

VIOLET for the Greene family — ID

photo fwbutton150.pngAlison is a single Registered Nurse. She has always dreamed of having children, but has not been so blessed. Alison has worked with children and adults with special needs in the past, including Down syndrome, and has always enjoyed it. One night, she had a dream that she and her sister were looking at a website of children for adoption with Down syndrome. When she woke, she did a search on her computer, and found Reece’s Rainbow. After years of looking at the site, and much encouragement from family and friends, she decided to give it a try! There have been many roadblocks in the process, but she has finally fallen in love with the little girl she feels was meant to be her daughter!

NADIA for the Daughton family — NY

OTwo years ago Tim and Cathy set out on a journey to bring home a teenage boy with cerebral palsy from Ukraine. They jumped through all the hoops and by the grace of God they arrived in Kiev with high hopes and great expectations. Ten days later the couple was headed home empty handed and broken hearted. Their almost son decided to stay in Ukraine, thinking and planning at such a young age, that his future was brighter there. To this day they stay in touch with him and while his path has not been an easy one, there is at least hope.

Fast forward two years and here they are again, ready and eager to embark on another journey to a different country for another child in need. They are again hopeful and trusting completely in the providence of the Almighty to bring this adoption to fruition. The three Daughton boys are excited about having a little sister and Nadia will have a small army of her own to command when she finally arrives. They will love, help, protect, cherish, and watch over her as big brothers are supposed to do. Many plans have already been made as the boys have begun to explore creative ways to help her over come her physical challenges. There is no doubt that she will receive the lion’s share of attention in this household, but no one is complaining.

Nadia is a beautiful, charming, and sweet little girl who is making great strides in her ability to walk, speak, and even learn English; she just needs more one-on-one time and attention. She will benefit enormously from having her own home and family with resources that will help her grow and overcome her less than ideal start in life. She is a radiant child who needs the hope of a family and the shared love of Christ so that her warmth and enthusiasm never fades. The family is eager to bring her home and know that her presence will have a profound and radical impact on each of them.

The family humbly asks for your prayerful support as they continue along this exciting path that God has laid before them.

XAVIER for the Butler family — NY

butler family 5Joe and Hannah are specifically hoping to adopt a child with special-needs. Their youngest child has several special-needs of his own, including prematurity (born at 26 weeks) and Down Syndrome. They have already learned so much through caring for their son, who is now 4 years old, and therefore feel as though they are equipped to take on the responsibility of caring for another special little blessing. Joe and Hannah also have a 7 year old daughter and a 5 year old son.

Both of them want to add to their family. They had talked about adoption before they even had biological children, so they knew it was always something they wanted to do. They had always dreamed of having a large family and when they realized Hannah would no longer be able to have more biological children (Hannah had to have an emergency hysterectomy at the age of 23), they knew that we were meant to adopt! They love kids and feel as though their family is not yet complete. Adoption is the perfect option for them! They have the space, the time, the desire, and most importantly, the love to give. Adoption has become a passion and a calling for their family.

Many people have asked Joe and Hannah “why are you choosing to adopt?” To them, the reason is simple – because their hearts are telling them to!

Joe and Hannah have open hearts and arms and look forward to adding an addition to their family.

SALLY for the Stum family — CO

Sally (1)Chris and Jennifer were married in 2010. They talked and dreamed about the size their family would be like many newlyweds do. Adoption was never considered an alternative for them but something they wanted to pursue in God’s time. Since then they have been blessed with three beautiful biological children (two boys and a girl). After their second child was born the real pull towards adoption started.

Jennifer found Reece’s Rainbow and began praying for children listed. Much time was spent by Chris and Jennifer researching many types of adoption and special needs seemed to pull at their hearts. When Chris was five he lost his foot in an accident. He has undergone many surgeries and therapy and today it does not hinder him. Seeing the life Chris leads and knowing the difference a family makes led the Stums to start looking at children with limb differences. Yet it still didn’t appear to be God’s timing. When they saw Sally they both knew that God planned for her to be their daughter. So, with much prayer and consideration the family stepped out in faith and started their journey of adoption to bring their beautiful daughter, Sally, home.

With God’s provision the Stums are excited to provide Sally with a loving home, the knowledge and love of Christ, and the care and support she needs to overcome the many obstacles she will face. Chris and Jennifer feel very blessed to be able to add Sally to their family and are very thankful for your prayers and support.

SILVIE for the Schultz family — WI

Silvie (2)Kelly and Bill met at a 4th of July celebration 3 years ago.  Mutual friends decided to play matchmaker and succeeded!  Bill asked Kelly out for coffee the next day and they spent the night talking about everything!  The coffee shop closed and they moved on to McDonald’s to finish off the night and the “rest is history!”  Kelly was quite the package deal bringing 7 children into the relationship; she knew Bill was “the one” when he jumped right in and became an instant part of the family!  They were married on May 04, 2013 and moved into their new house in June.  In July Kelly asked him if he was ready to start an adoption.  He didn’t say no (Lol) so she called and set up a homestudy for the beginning of August.  Rowen joined their family from Serbia on January 30, 2014!  Rowen has that extra special 47th chromosome and everyone fell instantly in love with him so they quickly decided that Eight Was Not Enough and they are heading to China to bring home Silvie as soon as possible!  Any help with fundraising is greatly appreciated since they so recently completed Rowen’s adoption.

CHARLOTTE and JADEN for the Holt family — TX

Charlotte 201110825223610 2011Jacob and Sarah had that “love at first sight” moment 10 years ago at Dallas Baptist University and never stopped living the fairytale. Jacob is a risk manager at Alliant Enrisk and Sarah stays home with their 4 children ages 2, 4, 6 and 7. After the birth of number 4, they knew they had room in their hearts and home for one more and started looking at Recce’s Rainbow for the perfect child with “something extra.” They were surprised when the “something extra” turned out not to be a chromosome but a sibling. Their plans changed the moment they laid eyes on them and suddenly their hearts and home found room for 2 more. The whole family is so excited to welcome their new brother and sister.

YULE and SEFF for the Buckley family — KY

Yule (2)Seff (2)Jamie and Kerry have been married for 23 years. They have seven biological children, Coty, Conner, Baylee, Colton, Cayden, Cashton, and Casey. They have two additional daughters, Briley and Breanna, that they adopted and just brought home from China in December of 2013. The Buckley family lives in Central Kentucky.

Adoption is something that Jamie and Kerry had spoken about to each other for years. It is definitely a calling from God for them. That is why they feel so compelled to get back to China as quickly as possible to bring their new sons, Christian and Creed, back to Kentucky with the rest of their children. Both of their new blessings have down syndrome so there are certainly going to be new challenges. But challenges are something that Jamie and Kerry are accustomed to. Two of their biological sons, Conner (19) and Cashton (6), are autistic. Also, the two girls that they just adopted from China have hydrocephalus and cerebral palsy. Having children with various special needs have taught Jamie and Kerry what unconditional love truly is; that a child with special needs is a special gift from God. Jamie oftentimes tells people that Kerry, “…was placed on this earth to raise children. She has been blessed with patience, understanding, and a loving presence that any child would benefit from with her as their mama.”

God has directed them to these two precious boys and just like with Briley and Breanna, Jamie and Kerry are answering that call. All of Christian and Creed’s brothers and sisters are just as excited as Jamie and Kerry to get them home as soon as possible. The Buckley Family is very appreciative of any financial help provided here.

PEARSON for the Drake family — TX

family pic30520132428Caleb and Mehgan met at a bowling alley over a dozen years ago. He was so smitten, that he proposed to her that night with a plastic vending machine ring–they have been together ever since. During the past eleven years of marriage, they have had four precious children. Andi is 8, Lilly is 5, and Sawyer is 4, and our newest addition is Boden, 13, who God graciously gave them last year. Caleb works for a popular soda company, and Mehgan is a crafting-cooking-homeschooling-stay at home mom.

They are a Christian family, who began to pray that God would direct them in the way they could best serve Him, show His love to others, and help others. They now have a God-given passion for serving those who are lonely and fatherless, and feel like adoption is something after God’s own heart. The past year with their new son home has showed them what the power of love and a family can do for a child who has been forgotten. It changes everything. And now they’re ready to go back for their waiting child. They love this child so much already, and they cannot wait to have their family grow again!

YULIA and FINN for the Kellogg family — IN

Yulia update (2)FinnPaul and Ashley met in college while both studying elementary education. Their love for children is what ultimately brought them together! They have been married for 12 years now and have 5 biological children. Their two boys are 11 & 6 and their three girls are 10, 8 & 5. Paul is an elementary school teacher and Ashley is a stay-at-home/homeschool mom. Adoption was something they had talked about from early on in their marriage.

Their lives were forever changed when their youngest daughter had a difficult birth that resulted in cerebral palsy and a host of other disabilities. Myra’s life has brought blessing after blessing to their family, and they became very familiar with the world of special needs. They already had a passion for underprivileged children and orphans, and now they had a passion for children with special needs. For years they had been trying to adopt domestically through the foster care system, but felt a pull to look internationally after many years of road blocks.

After watching a Gotcha video of a family adopting a child with Down Syndrome from Reece’s Rainbow, they searched the site and almost immediately found Yulia. After watching her videos, they fell in love! They received PA in June 2014!

Being open to adopting two children, Ashley found a profile of a little boy with albinism on an advocacy site. Because Paul had 4 aunts and uncles with albinism, she immediately fell in love and they pursued his file. On October 23rd, they received PA for Teddy!

Their children are so excited to have another little brother and sister! They have since named these children Frannie and Finn. God’s hand has been so clearly a part of this adoption and they are amazed at how He’s provided for and guided the adoption process so far!

WHITLEY for the Graham family — SC

graham-77The Grahams are a family of six living in South Carolina. Simon and Kelli have been married for 14 years and it was this summer that the Lord placed a burden on their hearts to pray for a bright-eyed, sweet-smiling girl in a pink skirt and purple tights. “Whitley” is six years old and deaf.

The journey they are on is one that they had never imagined for themselves, but the Lord is providing all needs as they step out in faith. Kelli is a former sign language interpreter and flight attendant turned homeschooling mom while Simon works hard for the family. They enjoy time together at home and with their fabulous family and friends as well.

They look forward to traveling to Poland to bring “Whitley” home in late Spring of 2015.

ZOLA for the Obenauf family — MI

photo fwbutton150.pngZola Photo 2 Apr-2013Stephani has always wanted to be a mother. Since she was a little girl, she knew she would have a big family and at least some of her children would arrive through adoption. She thought her family was going to be starting in 2009, when she found out she was pregnant. Sadly, God had other plans and her daughter Emma was stillborn.

Stephani found Reece’s Rainbow in 2011, through a friend that was adopting, She would spend hours looking at the children, reading their stories, hoping that soon, the time would be right to adopt. When a friend posted about “Zola”, Stephani knew instantly that hits little girl was meant to be her daughter.

Stephani was raised by a single parent and understands the struggles that lie ahead but knows that with God’s blessing and the love and support of her family, she is ready to provide “Zola” with a bright and happy future.

A sincere thank you to everyone for your prayers and financial support.

JUSTICE for the Scriven family — CO

JusticeScrivenWe are the Scriven family. We have two biological little girls, three and six, and recently adopted our 14 year old son Luke from China four months ago.

We were in the adoption process for almost three years. For two of those years we were geared up to adopt a baby from the special needs waiting child list. Little did we know there would be no baby in our future, instead we fell in love with a 13 year old boy, and it was the BEST decision we ever made as Luke is joy and light to our family.

We thought we would wait a couple of years to help Luke bond and settle into our family, and then possibly adopt a baby. Once again, a baby is not in our future, nor is waiting. 13 year old Cole (who was listed as Justice), Luke’s best friend from the same orphanage, has stolen our hearts. We first ‘met’ Cole back when were making the decision to adopt Luke. We thought Cole seemed like such a sweet boy and were sure someone would adopt him quickly. Cole must be adopted before May 1st before he ages out and is no longer eligible for adoption. We never in a million years would have thought we would go back to China so quickly.

Luke and Cole have similar special needs. Both boys have heart conditions are small, each only coming in at 4’ 3” inches. How amazing is it that God put these two boys together with similar conditions, who are best friends, and then moved our hearts to adopt BOTH of them!

We could use all of the support you are willing to give. We cannot gather the funds to go back to China by April this quickly to adopt Cole after Luke’s adoption without your help. If you donate, please know that we appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for helping these two boys to reunite, for Cole to have a family, and get the medical attention he needs.

NIGEL and NELLIE for the Gadbois family — MA

NandNbirthdayBrian and Nissa have been married for 23 years and are the parents of nine children. Adoption was always part of the plan for the Gadbois family, since before they were even married. They have been around adoption for many years as orphan hosts and adoption advocates.

Brian is an ordained deacon and an electrical engineer. Nissa is a stay-at-home mother and a professional photographer. The Gadbois Family operates a 300 acre farm in central Massachusetts with the help of their adult children. They make maple and birch syrups and honey, raise vegetables, dairy goats, and sheep. They also run a herd of cattle for another local farmer. All nine children still live at home and lend a hand on the farm.

Their special ministry is to the family, believing firmly in the mandate to care for widows and orphans, and in their responsibility to build up and strengthen all families. The Gadbois’ eldest daughter Catherine is in homeless ministry, working with expectant mothers.

“Nigel” and “Nellie” came to the Brian and Nissa’s attention at a time they didn’t think they could adopt. Many weeks had passed when someone else recalled this beautiful brother and sister to them. It was obvious that the Holy Spirit was prompting them to move forward. After some prayer and discussion, they decided to step out in faith to make these two beautiful children a part of their family. Thus far, as needs have arisen, God has provided. They are trusting in His goodness, and to the promptings of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of those who will read about them and their children to bring to fruition what God has planned for this family.

JAEGER for the Alford-DeBoer family — CA

Jaeger

Andrea and Jesse met and fell in love on a co-ed soccer team in 2004, he was great & she was not, but they’ve been teammates ever since. Jesse works in Property Management & is the Worship Leader at their church. Andrea stays at home with their son, Jackson (adopted), and any foster children they may be loving on at the time. While serving the homeless in their city the DeBoer’s became increasingly aware that most of the people they met on the streets came from broken homes or were lacking family. The DeBoer’s both come from large families & love family life, they recognize their adoption by God is the single most significant part of their heritages, and they realized that extending their family through adoption and foster care was one way they could stand in the gap between brokenness & life on the streets. Andrea and a friend came across Reece’s Rainbow, saw one beautiful smile that stood out in particular, and was heartbroken over the plight of orphans and orphans with special needs. The DeBoer’s had no intention of adopting internationally but continued to learn more about the orphan crisis. In the time since, they became licensed foster parents & adopted Jackson. In 2013 Andrea saw a face on social media that looked familiar, went back to RR & sure enough it was that same little boy. She asked, Jesse said ‘Yes!’ and they began the adventure to bring Jaeger home to their family!

The journey is long & complicated, and the costs are high, but the DeBoers know that Jaeger is worth it! They would be grateful for your support, either financially or through prayer, as they go after their little man.

TODD for the Stephens family — UT

ToddThe Stephens family’s adoption journey began over two years ago. What an eventful two years it’s been! They met and fell in love with a beautiful little girl in Russia, lived through the toughest times in their lives as they experienced losing her because of the adoption ban, committed to “Connor James” in China, then lost him as well as he passed away before they could ever hold him in their arms. Their journey finally ended happily as they traveling to China in March 2014 to pick up their precious Milo! He has brought such light and joy to their whole family, and he was worth the wait and fight!

With four children now at home, their family felt pretty complete. While deciding as a family which Angel Tree child to sponsor, they very unexpectedly realized they had room in their lives for one more child. After much prayer and talking through their fears, they decided to say yes! They believe, now more than ever, in the importance of family. There is nothing more valuable in the world. They have witnessed firsthand the miracles that happen for a child as they go from being an orphan to being a beloved family member.

After paying for two adoptions in the past two years, they very much appreciate any help they can get so “Todd” can finally have the life full of love he deserves!

JONNY for The Baird Family – GA

Jonny

Beth is a single mom of two who brought home her son Bobby in March of 2013. Bobby loved having a big sister, but began asking about a brother a few months after being home, but Beth thought her family was complete. Bobby continued to ask and Beth had to admit that the faces of those they met on the orphanage visit, still haunted her dreams. An opportunity arose for Bobby to be able to visit with several of his friends from his orphanage while they were in the states for summer hosting. Bobby was thrilled to see his friends and Beth was smitten with a kind hearted little boy who grew up with Bobby at the orphanage. Beth is hoping the process moves quickly as Bobby asks every day “Is he here yet? Is he here yet?”

FloraYork (2)Kevin and Monica Gerber met in college at Liberty University and have been married for over thirteen years. They have 2 biological girls and 1 adopted son from the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and have been amazed how God has grafted their son seamlessly into their family. God has used a simple act of obedience to love an orphan for his glory and they have watched with joy as countless others have had their hearts softened toward the plight of the orphans around the world.

They and their children are thrilled to be claiming York (Kennedy) and Flora (Ruthie) as their own from Asia. photo fwbutton150.pngCliff 2014David and Priscilla have always known that special needs adoption would be woven into their marriage somehow. Priscilla was adopted herself and grew up with a brother with significant special needs. David’s niece was adopted, and his father was differently abled. In November 2012 they brought home their daughter McKenzie, who was listed as Xenia on Reece’s Rainbow, and she has been the brightest light in their lives (along with their biological sons) ever since. McKenzie has taught them a lot about parenting a child with special needs, and they feel led to go back and give another child what McKenzie was denied for so long, hope. Life might now be easy when you choose to parent a child with significant special needs, but it is always worth it. The blessings they bring to your life absolutely overflow your heart each and every day. This time, a little boy grabbed at their heart strings, and they just knew they had to get him out of the situation he was in. No child deserves to be left in an orphanage, but this child reminded Priscilla so much of her own brother, that there was no way she couldn’t bring him home. Her brother had several of the same conditions, and passed away at the age of nine, but he left an imprint so deep on her heart, that she credits him fully with her passion for children with special needs. They are firm believers that God calls us to care for the orphan, in whatever capacity we can, and for them, that calling is through adoption. They are so excited about embarking on this journey (again!) and completing their family.

Please keep Cliff in your thoughts and prayers. He has a fighter’s heart, and we know he will bloom just like his sister once he’s home and experiencing the love of family for the first time in his life.

REBECCA for the Bowen family — PA

Rebecca 2014Joe and Jaime have been happily married for twelve years and are the proud parents of five children who range in age from 14 to 3.

After reading a friend’s blog post about their impending adoption of a special needs child Jaime found a link to Recce’s Rainbow and their lives were forever changed. There was one little girl that they could not get off their minds.

Rebecca has meant so much to the family after they participated in Angel Tree and raised funds for her adoption grant last Christmas. They prayed for this sweet little girl every day and one day God made it very clear that Rebecca was not just a little girl on a computer screen, she was to be their daughter!

After many months of prayer and consideration Joe and Jaime decided to proceed with their dream of adopting this little girl and bringing Rebecca home.

“And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.”

A Child for the Cloward family — TX

Ben and Sarah met in a college art class early in 1996. A snow day where no one else showed up and an assignment to look into each others eyes and make a facial sketch helped along their already emerging relationship. They married in June of that year and embarked on a happy life together.

Within the first five years, three beautiful boys joined their union. Days were filled with collecting rocks (and later finding them clunking around in the dryer!), long walks with the stroller, and exploring the greatness of life. When a daughter joined the family, her feminine touch permeated everyone’s hearts. Not long after, one more son blessed their home. They had never been busier, or happier.

But the daughter kept wondering where her sisters were. Her mother had promised that she would have sisters. Over 15 years ago, Sarah had been sent a sweet image from Heaven of two of her future daughters playing together, and this little girl was feeling impatient!

When the next pregnancy ended prematurely, and an emergency hysterectomy was necessary to save Sarah’s life, everyone mourned. What had become of the girls Sarah had seen? What about all of the feelings that their family wasn’t complete?

Thus began their interest in adoption. As they searched for the programs that felt right, they became discouraged. It seemed as though a loving Heavenly Father just kept telling them to wait, to keep preparing, and to trust Him.

Finally, Sarah was awakened one night with a need to view a blog she hadn’t looked at for years, and it reintroduced her to Reece’s Rainbow. This time, as she looked through the waiting children, she found one that looked just like one of the little girls she had seen so long ago. After years of searching and seeking, Ben and Sarah feel that they have finally located one of their daughters and the whole family is rejoicing!

“Sing unto the Lord; for He hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth!” (Isaiah 12:5)

EVERETT for the Johnson family — ND

photo fwbutton150.pngEverettBlake and Crystal have 2 young biological daughters and thought their family was complete. Little did they know that God would lead them to Reece’s Rainbow through friends who adopted a little girl from Eastern Europe last Christmas. Crystal scrolled through the many faces of children who need families and read many blogs of adoptive parents. After learning about the neglect of these children, they prayed. A lot! They had never seriously considered adoption. Especially international adoption. They are planners. They are not risk-takers. But they love children. They love God. They want to be obedient to God’s calling.

Since they have two girls they decided if they were to adopt they would like to add a boy to the family. They were waiting for clarity from God of what age of boy, from which country, what type of special needs, when to start the process. One day the older daughter talked of a discussion she had with Blake about getting a boy in the family. Blake said they never had the discussion so they believe it must have been a dream. They were wondering what God was up to! Then about four days later they were presented with Everett’s information and fell in love. The decision was prayerfully, fearfully, obediently made to add this precious little boy to their family.

They appreciate your prayers for provision, protection, unity, peace, and health.

ELIJAH for the Howell family — MI

photo fwbutton150.pngElijahWe have two beautiful homegrown girls and last year we were blessed to add our son Hironari to our family from Japan. We call him Hiro, and he truly is our little hero! He has come SO far in the year that he’s been home with us and we are so thankful God chose us to be his forever family! When he came home I mentioned in passing to our agency that if another baby with Down syndrome ever came available for adoption to please let us know because we’d love for Hiro to have someone to grow up with. Never did we think that call would come so soon. In June we were contacted about a baby who needed a family and quickly… she came home to us at the beginning of August and we were all so in love. She was pure perfection. We had her for 24 very short hours when we received the call that her birth mother had changed her mind and had decided to parent. When we brought her back a strong storm hit our area and the rain flooded the streets. The rain felt so fitting for the sadness that poured from our hearts and out of our eyes. We knew that the heavens were crying out, but as we started the drive home the rains stopped and a rainbow crossed the sky. God’s promise. We were and continue to be heart broken for the baby we prepared for. She will always hold a place in our hearts that no other child will fill. She was ours and we were hers. Just as before, we knew that there was a child out there waiting that needed us. So when a friend sent me a picture of the most beautiful baby boy my heart leapt. We prayed together about adding him to our family and the answer was yes. He will be ours and we can’t wait to welcome him into our waiting arms. Hold tight baby boy… Mommy and Daddy are coming!

BOONE for the Myers family — SC

Boone update 473 (2)Billy and Suzanne have known each other since high school.  They reconnected a couple of years after graduation and have been together for 10 years, married for eight.  They have been blessed with two wonderful biological children, ages four and two.  They always felt a calling to adopt but never knew where to begin.  They were introduced to RR and instantly fell in love with a sweet two year old boy.  They were so excited to bring this little guy home.  While working on their home study, they received a devastating phone call.  Their beautiful boy had passed away.  A void was left that no child could ever fill.  Even though they continue to grieve over the loss of their son, they knew God was still calling them to adopt.  They came across this adorable two year old and could not take their eyes off of him.  After prayer and deep consideration they decided to begin pursuing adoption again.

We are excited to meet and bring our beautiful son home.  We cannot get enough of his pictures and videos.  We treasure the day we get to meet and hold this wonderful gift from God.
