Berkeley

Guardian Angelberkeley2013Girl, Born October 22, 2003

What a stunning, happy little girl!  Berkeley has long blonde hair and beautiful brown eyes.    She was born with clubbed feet, but is able to walk holding on to a fence or hands or the wall.  She is very determined and tries to do everything on her own.  Surgery and therapy could change this little girl’s life!

Berkeley does have strabismus (crossed eye), her records indicate hydrocephaly, but she certainly seems to be doing fine and not showing any signs of cognitive difficulty from that.  She also has hypoplasia of her right kidney.

From her medical records:  The girl had spinal hernia like,  the hernia was successfully operated, that is why the girl can walk now.   As the result of that hernia the girl has incontinence of urine.   Hydrocephaly.   She has shunt in the brain which should be there for few more years.   She is very kind and loving and has lots of friends. ”

Berkeley has SO much potential, and will do so well in a loving family environment!

Older parents and large families welcome.  Married couples only.  Travel required for both parents.  More photos available!

Kyle #7-1

Boy, Born March 11, 2004

Main diagnosis: Down syndrome, strabismus
Kyle has already been transferred to a mental institution.

Kyle was born with a heart condition and anal atresia, but both have been surgically corrected and he is now perfectly healthy. However, he still shows a desire to learn and interact.

Zane

Boy, Born March 2004

This adorable 6 year old boy with Down syndrome was found outside a police station in March of 2008. His age is estimated. He is reported to have adapted will to life at the orphanage and has made many friends. He is very helpful to the teachers and care givers. He is able to take care of his daily needs, and speaks a few words. His caregivers find him to be loving, humorous, very adorable and having a kind heart. This lovable boy needs a family that is experienced with childhood delays and can be strong advocates for him.

Kaleb #6-5 HP

DOB: September 2003
Down syndrome

Kaleb’s gross motor skills are developed. He walks, goes up/down steps with minimal assistance and runs. He spends most of his time choosing to sit in a child’s chair. He requires 1:1 assistance with academic tasks. He is attending a special needs school. He enjoys group music activities. He eats with assistance and is on a restricted diet to assist with constipation issues. He is a calm child. He does not exhibit any auto-aggression. He responds to his name. He makes eye contact, but he does not talk. He likes to play with cars, balls, stuffed animals and on the swing. He prefers to spend his time alone instead of interacting with other children.

Addition photos and videos from October 2012 are available of Kaleb.

Grant

Boy, Born January 24, 2005
Down syndrome

Update 2013:  Grant has been waiting WAY too long for his family to find him! We have confirmed he is still waiting, and has been transferred to a second older child institution. We are not able to get any new photos or medical updates, but we understand he is doing well (all things considered).

This monkey reminds me of Reece! Maybe it’s the buzz hair cut, or the dark eyes….or the “I’m faster than you” look in his eyes! :) Grant is HEALTHY, active, walking/running/climbing, feeding himself, many words. Grant is already 7 and has been transferred to the older child institution. Hope someone will consider him!

Married couples only.  Older parents and large families welcome.  Travel required.

Jimmy

Boy, Born March 30, 2007
PRC

From a missionary who visited with him in May 2010:  “ Jimmy is a delightful three year old with Down Syndrome.  He is decribed as being quiet and playful.  Jimmy doesn’t walk by himself yet, but he can get anywhere he needs by holding onto furniture and walls.  He only says a few words, but understands so much more. Jimmy has a close relationship with his foster father.  When foster dad hugs him and raises him up, he laughs happily.  Jimmy also loves the outdoors.  When foster mom takes him to pick up his older foster brother from school, he raises his head in his stroller, looks at the sky, and laughs heartily.  He is curious about everything. ”

Update in July 2011:  Jimmy, now four years old, has been on the shared list for a long time … At the time his file was submitted, he didn’t even walk yet! Now he runs. When the file was prepared, he didn’t speak at all. He’s still a man of few words, but he does call those in his foster family by name …  If his family doesn’t find him soon, they may move him out of his foster home to make room for another child who they feel may have a better chance at a family.”

More photos available, along with full medical records.   Single moms permitted, no more than 6 children at home, only one parent has to travel.

Meredith

Girl, Born October 2006

Meredith is a GORGEOUS little girl with dark skin, dark silky hair, and giant brown eyes.  She is now 5 years old and has waited so long for a family of her own.  Meredith is HEALTHY, with no medical complications.
THIS PROGRAM IS CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH SOME CHANGES.   WE HOPE FOR PROGRESS IN THE SPRING OF 2012.
Recent update (April 2011):  Meredith is doing very well and is a content child. She recognizes her name when it is called. She smiles often when her caregivers speak to her. She recognizes the staff. She likes to play with toys. She can pronounce a few words. She is not a picky eater. She is a wonderful little girl with Down Syndrome waiting for her family. A recent report also shows that she has mild CP.   She can walk but she cannot run.
In addition to Meredith’s sizeable grant through Reece’s Rainbow, our agency partner serving her also offers grants and lowered fees for her adoption.   We have recently been given permission to share Meredith’s photo now, so with her new grant and a photo, I so hope we can find her family now!
