AnnaMarie

AnnaMarie (1)annamarie-2Girl, born December 1998
AnnaMarie is really struggling right now, longing for a family. Many of her friends have been adopted in the last year (through RR), but no family has come for *her*. She wants a family so badly — aches for a family, cries herself to sleep because her longing for a mama and a papa is so strong and so painful.

She knows what her future holds when she ages out of the orphanage and is on the streets by herself.   AnnaMarie is not some hardened 15yo.   She is a sweet, kind, smart, beautiful child who longs to be hugged and cuddled by people she can call “mama” and “papa,” a family of her very own.   Please, share this note and share her profile.   She only has until December to find a family.

AnnaMarie loves school and was in 6th grade when I met her.  Her favorite subject is math and likes working on the computer and with cameras. AnnaMarie is very quiet, sweet, and soft-spoken.   She is very positive.   She wants to have brothers and sisters of her own, and has many friends.  She likes going out with her friends and dancing.  She wants to go to college.  I hope someone can help her make her dream come true!

AnnaMarie is in the same orphanage with several other available children. Interested and approved families could adopt multiple children together.

Armando

Armando (4)Armando

This little guy is about six years old.  He was found abandoned in 2009 and police were unable to locate his family.

He’s been diagnosed with Down syndrome and is developmentally delayed.

He is described as a cute boy and he likes to play with his peers. He knows some simple words and understands and follows some instructions from adults. He needs a family who can provide him with the love and support he lacked in his early life.

Update June 2013:
Our family met this little guy in January 2012 & then again in January 2013. He is a sweetie. He is very independent and very mobile. I chased him all around the playground. He loved the games on our iPhone’s & enjoyed looking at pictures. He understands adults and is very loving. We were told he goes to a kindergarten school. He is super bright, a loves to laugh. He definitely has the stubborn, “I’m not done playing on your phone” attitude typical with our little DS lovies. He was very loving & really enjoyed our teenage girls & our younger boys. I think he would settle in easily into a family. This orphanage is very organized, structured and he is blessed to be there. BUT HE. NEEDS. A. FAMILY.

Pearson

30520132428Boy, born Dec. 2004
Moderate mental delays

He is a very good boy, communicable, calm and friendly.

From a family who met him in Fall 2013:
Pearson is doing so good!! He is precious and sweet! I saw him from a distance every day. The first time, he was with a group of boys having their picture taken in the fall leaves. He always did what the nanny told him to. He walks very well, and he likes holding the nannies hands. My favorite day was when I walked past their group and he was right in front of me on the sidewalk, and before the nanny could move him, I bent down and in Russian told him how sweet he was. He took my face in both of his hands, and pulled me down so our foreheads were touching, and just stared in my eyes. I kissed his cheek, and his whole face lit up!! And he has the most adorable splatter of freckles! He is smaller than I would have thought too.

Kendall

O girl (1)Guardian AngelKendall-2014Girl, born January 2006
cerebral palsy, bigeminal epilepsy, deep mental handicap, inner hydrocephaly, convergent squint

Kendall is a true orphan, as her mother has passed away.

From a missionary who visited in August 2014:  ”She is a total sweetheart. She loves being picked up, held and tickled. She can stand with support but her feet don’t sit flat on the ground. She needs a family who can get her the therapy she needs. She responds to the caregivers she has a bond with, she will pull herself along the ground to get to them. Her giggle is precious. She really is an amazing little girl who would light up her families life.”

From someone who met her:  She was gorgeous, when I spent time with her she had been taken into the playroom by a caretaker and she was lapping up every single second, she couldn’t stop laughing and grinning; it was a joy to watch! when I compare to pictures I received of her later in her cot it does not look like the same child! She needs a life and love, she could bloom, I know it!

10 day wait often waived here. Married couples only, larger families welcome.

Rebecca

Rebecca update 2014 (3)Rebecca 2014Girl, born March 2011
PRC
Down syndrome, congenital heart defect

Rebecca has Down syndrome, and a heart condition; ASD, enlarged RA, mild insufficiency of TV, and mild pulmonary hypertension…the left side of her heart has normal function. A brain CT and EEG were both normal.

Rebecca is a precious little one who is just 2 years old. She was found abandoned at a bus stop when she was about 5 months old.  This sweet little girl has delays; to be expected, of course, but she does not seem to be receiving the therapy she needs to help her progress more quickly. Her heart condition is slowing her down, too. Imagine the great progress she will make when her heart is fixed, and she has someone to help her learn and develop! Rebecca is crawling now, and her fine motor skills are behind. She badly needs a loving family and the continued stimulation that will help her develop and improve her future. It is certainly not too late to begin working with her…at all! Rebecca is sweet, quiet, and loves to watch other children play. A family for Rebecca will help her join other kids at play!

She is out-going, and not afraid of strangers. She loves blocks and rattles. Marcia is crawling and can walk while holding the rails (as of March…she could be walking unassisted now). She can imitate actions, and loves to blow kisses! Marcia is very curious, according to her report. This was so good to see! She is attentive, and very interested in everything around her.

Tayte

Boy, born January 2009TayteTayte
PRC
Albinism

Tayte is outgoing, active, has a ready smile and is fond of playing toys; he is not talkative and likes playing games with children in the same room. He is close to the caretaker and his favorite activity is that the aunt takes him out to play with children to the top of his bent. He is a lovely boy.

Because of congenital albinism and light photophobia, he wears sunglasses when he plays outside.
Update, July 2013:
Tayte is a smart and easy going boy. He attends kindergarten where he gets along well with other children. He can feed himself, dress himself and go to the restroom by himself. He picks up toys, sets the table, and is able to do some housework.

He takes the initiative to greet people who he knows and have simple conversation with them. He meets someone and will ask them if they have finished their days work, showing concern for other person.

Because of his vision, he struggles with pictures, but he is a organizer of other kids to teach them the games he learns at school. He will play with those he is unfamiliar with if introduced to them and told to play together. He likes to sit on adults lap and cuddle with caretaker.

He can go up and downstairs. Going down is a bit slow as he is afraid he would fall. He can run very fast and adjust his speed according to the circumstances. He likes to play toys with wheels and music. He especially loves to explore the environment.

Saige

Girl, born November 2002
Down syndrome
PRC

Saige is almost 12 years old, and still waiting.

From her file:  At present, she has lived here for 3 years and now she is 9 years old. She studies cognition, language, math, social intercourse, emotion, fine arts, music, arts and crafts and physical education. She has Down syndrome and although she is 9 years old, she has poor developments than normal children in her age in terms of language, intellect and social intercourse.  She cannot speak clearly, yet she is willing to communicate with others. Typically, she could call the names of her familiar persons, understand words and follow 2-3 steps of instructions such as use a cloth to clean a table. She could express her needs via 3-5 words such as a teacher gives me soup. She could refuse the things she dislikes orally such as I do not want more rice and I am full.

She could tell several colors such as red, yellow, white and black; tell and use over 10 daily used goods, tell circle and triangle shapes, know several animals such as fish, chicken, duck, dog, pig and cow. She could tell several vegetables and fruits such as apple, banana, pear, cabbage, carrot and pumpkin as well as vehicles of cars, motorcycles and bicycles. She could count numbers from 1 to 10, take a couple of objects, figure out the size of objects.

She can walk, run, jump and crawl as per instructions. She loves doing gyms and dances the most. She could thread a needle, hold a pen to draw, write down numbers and simple words. In terms of self-cared ability, she could eat on her own, go to washroom, clean and wash, wash and fold clothes, clean rooms and wash and put away tableware.

She positively participates in the games with other children and she is polite, greets acquaintances when seeing them. She could help fellow friends do something. She enjoys showing herself off and she acts as an older sister.

She is outgoing, gentle and kindhearted. In daily life, she tends to help the children who are not capable than her to do something as her age appropriate such as helping other children putting on shoes, taking on and off clothes and washing face. Other children love such older sister. She has sweet teeth, likes wearing colorful skirts and playing dolls.    She has been healthy since admission and seldom gets sick other than having chap on lips in winter time.

Margeaux L18

photogirlGirl, Born December 1999
Down syndrome, oval window
L18

Margeaux is almost 13 years old and is in a crib in her photo :(   She is considered quite low functioning, but it is these children we always see the greatest transformation in!   She is able to pull to a stand.   Full medical and behavioral information is available.   Older parents, larger families and single moms welcome.  Margeaux needs a family who is experienced in international adoption and the challenges of children with special needs who have been living in institutional settings.

Additional medical and social history available from the agency.

Update 2014:
Currently Margeaux receives schooling in the 3rd grade but she is not able to learn language, counting, or to recognize digits and letters etc. The teacher comes to her twice a week. Learning process is actually more of an interaction with the teacher; Margeaux listens to the teacher read, and they do some activities together. She reacts towards words like “let’s eat” or “let’s stand up now” etc. She is not verbal. Margeaux reacts towards the smell of food. She is satisfied when feels comfortable. Margeaux does not like environment changes; she does not like persons’ she is unfamiliar with.

Margeaux does not stand up on her feet (she needs support). She is able to change position in the bed by herself. Due to her severe mental delays, she is not able to try learning how to walk. She has leg malformation. Margeaux is being put in the wheelchair, several times a day she is taken out of the bed and being put on the buckwheat bag and also put on the toy horse. A doctor has said that the musculature of her legs could not be overstrained, she also does not like moving a lot.  Margeaux receives massages.

Margeaux has 4th level of care, it is the highest level; she is incapable to take care of herself and to perform simple self-care activities. She is not able to chew food, she is being fed only with purees.  She has inner anxiety, auto-aggression – she might hit herself on the face but she is not aggressive towards others. She sleeps well.

Margeaux is rapidly approaching the time where she will “age-out” and no longer be eligible for international adoption (by US law).  Her life means, and can be, so much more than this!  PLEASE do not leave her behind now that she has been given a voice and a chance through Reece’s Rainbow!

Sadie #53-4

Sadie photos (15)DOB: 2005, age 9

Diagnosis: Osteogenesis imperfecta; Osteochondrodysplasia

While Sadie’s physical condition is complex, she maintains a good spirit and great hope for a forever family. Her bones are shorter than average and fragile due to her medical condition. She has limited movement, but is learning to compensate with what she has. She has recently learned to feed herself and she plays with toys and manipulates other objects as much as her limited mobility will allow. She can communicate verbally very well and has directly expressed her desire to be adopted. She participates in dialogues, asks variety of questions and answers questions. She sings variety of songs, recites rhymes, sometimes with the help from an adult. She always reacts adequately to her name, as well as to praises and reprimands. She has gender and age orientation. She is attending school and enjoys participating in class. When she is in the orphanage, she will often attempt to “boss” the caregivers by telling them that a certain child is crying because he needs a diaper change or reminding them that it’s time to feed another child, etc.

The agency has several photos and videos of Sadie, along with detailed medical information.

Because we only have this child’s file for a short time, she will not be able to receive donations until a family is found for her.

Jaeger

P-OD
Boy, born March 2006
Diagnosis: Down syndrome
Eyes and hair black

*The agency has a video of him at 6 years, 2 months old.  He is putting together a puzzle, playing on a playground, and adorable!  Video available for serious inquiries*

Oh my goodness, the grin on this boy!  Even with the poor quality of the picture, Jaeger’s personality shines!

The information we have is from 2009, when he was 3 years old.   He has received special ed services, starting in 2008.   He can understand and follow sample instructions, he begins games and has started potty training.  He eats well, and feeds himself.

He walks and moves well through obstacles.  He has good eye-hand coordination while playing, but not good eye-feet coordination yet.  He loves the pool.  He likes his caregivers and smiles and is very affectionate.

He is really a happy boy and healthy, with good skills for his age.

The paperwork also stated that at the time, he needed treatment for his teeth.

Update from 2010:

He starts his own games, he likes making strokes with pencil or crayons, he can now use scissors . He helps keep the toys in right places.

Jaeger is a social child, he participates with his peers, he integrates into a group, he walks, runs, jumps, climbs and turns without difficulty; but he is not aware of the danger.  He receives physical therapy and occupational therapy to increase his abilities.
