Rogers update 2014 (1)RogerBoy, born May 2004
PRC
Down syndrome

Rogers has normal limb development and delayed mental development. Upon admission,he was 4 years old. At that time, he could walk alone, felt strange about the new place, and was careful to get to know new people. After a period of time, he learned how things worked and liked to get to know new people and got along with others well. At the age of 5 years, he could go up and down stairs holding the rail, could clap his hands along to the rhythm of music, could pick his favorite toys, and could share toys and food with other kids. At the age of 7 years, he could jump off the ground, could draw 3 parts of the body, and could pick up and throw a ball. At the age of 9 years, his self-management was improved and he knew his gender. He could eat and drink independently, take a bath, and put on his clothes independently. Now he is receiving the special education in the institute. He can imitate drawing pictures, can recognize common colors, can run and jump, and can have simple motion with his friends. He would like to do some work, but his language is delayed and he can only speak some simple words unclearly, He can understand the directions and he is gentle, shy, and likes familiar people close to him. Roger can get along well with other kids, likes playing games, enjoys basketball, and likes riding bikes with kids in the playground. Occasionally he is obstinate, but telling him a story can make him smile.

Quentin update 2013 (5)Quentin (1)

Boy, born December 2008

PRC
Down syndrome, heart defect (acleistocardia)

Oh my, what a cutie!  Love his fuzzy hair!

Quentin has Down syndrome, but is otherwise healthy!

From a family who met Quentin in 2012:
We were able to meet him when we visited our son’s first foster home.  The foster home is wonderful and the children are very well cared for and LOVED!!  I was told that he has made great progress since a new caregiver arrived from the states.  She absolutely adores him and was trying to hold back tears as she thanked me for coming and trying to find a family for him.  The past few months he has begun seeking out attention of her, interacting more with the other children, taking more interest in toys and pulling up to a standing position.  He loves being held and is adorable.

Video and additional pictures available for potential families.

UPDATE spring 2013:
Last time I saw Quentin was in early March and he was doing GREAT! I am so proud of his progress over the past year and a half. Not only is he walking steadily, but also making progress figuring out and doing things on his own, for example, climbing up the stairs to the slide and sliding down, stacking up chairs and stools to get in and out of his bed on his own. In the past the only noises he would make was to cry when he was sad or mad (which is rarely) but last time I saw him he was making noises like baby talk which to me was a good sign that he is wanting to try and talk/communicate…imitating noises, etc. He is also more and more affectionate and loving…coming up behind you to steal hugs and kisses.

He’s a treasure, and I can’t WAIT for some family to find him and take him home! He is SO smart and SO ready to have a family of his own!

boysillouettenophotoBoy, Born April 2000

Down syndrome

Dante is a handsome young man! Nearly 14 years old and full of life and potential.  Considered quite high functioning by the staff and caregivers.  Very smart, active, friendly, helpful…enjoys the computer very much, as well as hockey and basketball.  Loves people and playing with other children, but likes to have his own time as well.  Speaks well, understands clearly, responds appropriately.   He even knows how to ride a bike safely in the street!  He is generous with his things, but also takes care of them.  (I’m wondering where I can get a child like this!?  Wow!)

He does seem to need glasses (he squints a lot).   Full medical and social history available.

Praying Dante will not have to wait one second longer now that he has a voice and a chance through Reece’s Rainbow.  Older parents and large families welcome, single moms welcome.  Wonderful program!
