Sizeable Grants ($15,000+)

It is our true belief that there is a “forever family” for each of our waiting orphans with special needs. The purpose of Reece's Rainbow is to raise funds as adoption grants, to help potential adoptive families with the high cost of giving these children the life they so richly deserve.

Your donations and advocacy turn the child on the left into the child on the right!

This page includes the profiles of those children with more than $15,000+ in grant funding available. Put on your WARRIOR shoes and help us find families! PLEASE SHARE THIS PAGE, that others will see it and take that leap of faith to save a child in need.

Clarice

CLarice

Clarice 2014 2 Girl, born July 1999
Down syndrome

Clarice’s pictures are so fun to see – she seems to be all sunshine and motion!   She has such an amazing grin!

Clarice is so tiny; and she has many facial features of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, in addition to her Down syndrome.

She has the personality of an impetuous toddler- very high energy and eager to try everything life has to offer. She too needs a family, and the sooner the better. The possibilities for a child to thrive when they reach a family are endless. She will definitely need medical attention, as you can tell from just seeing her teeth, and lots of patient instruction and guidance.

Update from May 2014:
Clarice has a sunshine smile, twinkling eyes, and a unique set of needs, as she is the victim of at least one confirmed type of maternal substance abuse in addition to having Down Syndrome and scoliosis. She has spent the entirety of her almost-15 years of her life without the essential and nurturing maternal and paternal bond. She is a sweet-natured, not loud, strong, and curious child who is the size of a slender six year-old. She is cognitively about two years old. She IS able to obey the stern orphanage nannies, and enjoys massage, stroller rides, sensory activities if she is offered, joint stimulation, and can walk. Clarice can engage in purposeful play and follow basic instructions. She bear-crawls (think Jungle Book) many times, and really has a gentle disposition. Her eyes are innocent and kind, and her personality is gentle and sweet. It is not fair to expect a child in this condition to “perform” for a room full of adults, and she is enamored and thankful with any offers of play or stimulation. She has a self-stimming habit of pushing on her private parts under her underpants, but as I have learned in the DS community, this is probably a result of a lack of sensory input. So, if given the right redirection through sensory play, her habit could be redirected. Clarice has the strength of a man when she wants you to hold her, and it is my opinion that it is unsuitable for her to have several physically smaller siblings. However, that is not legislated. There are several telling videos and photos of Clarice to share for the right family. She needs a family ASAP! I was told by a national regarding the kind of place she goes next — that “most children live for only one year at most once transferred.” Please pray for precious Clarice. Could you love her as a daughter? God knows her name, and he will provide her needs.

Vaughn

Boy, born January 2007

CO-A

Down syndrome, otherwise reported to be healthy

What a handsome young fella!  I adore how he’s standing with his hands in his pockets.  Vaughn is already 7, and at a great age to join his forever family.  This is a great program with a wonderful agency partner.  Hope you will consider Vaughn as your son!

Dante L3

boy3-dante-cropped2Boy, Born April 2000

Dante is a handsome young man! Nearly 14 years old and full of life and potential.  Considered quite high functioning by the staff and caregivers.  Very smart, active, friendly, helpful…enjoys the computer very much, as well as hockey and basketball.  Loves people and playing with other children, but likes to have his own time as well.  Speaks well, understands clearly, responds appropriately.   He even knows how to ride a bike safely in the street!  He is generous with his things, but also takes care of them.  (I’m wondering where I can get a child like this!?  Wow!)

He does seem to need glasses (he squints a lot).   Full medical and social history available.

Praying Dante will not have to wait one second longer now that he has a voice and a chance through Reece’s Rainbow.  Older parents and large families welcome, single moms welcome.  Wonderful program!

Ellen

Ellen (2)Girl, born 2011
PRC

Ellen is a very lovely 3 year old girl with Down Syndrome.

Ellen is considered to be a more able child in her group. She can walk holding a hand, and she can walk independently. She needs some help with feeding, but she eats her snacks by herself. She has pretty features, and a gentle demeanor. We are told by her teacher that she is a fast learner. We note that she holds her crayons well, and tried to imitate drawing lines and circles. Ellen has been healthy. She has no heart condition, and has had no significant medical history, surgeries or hospitalizations. She is very sweet natured. She attends a special class in the orphanage with a group of other children. Beautiful child, looks well nourished, clean and cared for. There is lots of video of her too.

The agency has a $2000 grant available for Ellen.

Emil

emil-2014Born December 1999emil
Diagnosis: cerebral palsy and down syndrome

DARLING NEW VIDEO OF EMIL from August 2014!  Snugglebug!   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5fMJJhY6DA

From a missionary who visited with him in August 2014:  Emil is a little rascal that loves attention. He likes to climb up on your lap and blow raspberries. After I kissed him on the cheek he kept squishing his face against mine so that I would kiss him again! He is one smart cookie. He can verbalize lots of different sounds, so he would learn to speak in no time. He can stand and take a few steps with assistance when he wants to! He is lots of fun and needs a Mama and Papa!

From someone who met him in 2012:  Emil was the gentlest child ever! Unable to talk but the pleading in his eyes killed me! He grabbed my finger and wouldn’t let go…what a grip! He also got really hit a few times by others wanting my attention, he didn’t retaliate but fell in a heap and moved away, only to return when the coast was clear. I would love to see this child in a nurturing environment!

Emil is able to walk.
