Listed: November 2017

Jamal needs a loving family to take him out of the orphanage, to take care of him and to help him discover the wonderful world. He smiles when someone plays with him and expresses positive emotions.

He is interested what is happening around him, and in auditory stimulation he occasionally stops his movements to listen to the adult’s speech. He watches a moving object up to 180 degrees and pays attention for a long time on a musical toy with light indicators.

Jamal is dependent on the care of the caregivers from the Baby Home. He is fed slowly, and he falls asleep by himself and sleeps peacefully. Jamal can hold his head upright, and when supported by an adult, he can stand. He tries to sit alone and loves to play with nearby toys.

Anna

Internal hydrocephalus (operated), spastic tetraparesis with movement disorders, open oval window, development delays

Listed: October 2015

VIDEO:  https://goo.gl/photos/Sdw2Gk8qf9n2rYcC9

From a family who met her summer 2015:  This little girl is wonderful! I have never met a child with so much personality and spunk. She absolutely loves people and she is so desperate for attention. I held her for most of our visitation time one day. If I tried to put her down she demanded that I pick her up again and then she would kiss all over me. She just wanted someone to be near her. Everyday when my husband would walk through the playground gates she would get a stern look on her face and point at him and then motion for him to come to her… NOW:) She would smile from ear to ear when he acknowledged her. You can not help but laugh when you are with her. Even the cold and distant nannies couldn’t keep a solemn expression on their faces when we interacted with her.

She is in need of urgent dental care! I have never seen such decayed teeth before. I am not sure why her mouth is so much worse than all the other children but her mouth is really concerning. She can stand on her own but struggles to lift and bend her legs when she is bearing weight on them. She has a little walker that she does wonderful with. She can walk along a bench by holding on to it but we never saw her walk independently. From what I could tell she does not have any limitations of her upper body.

We never witnessed her show any aggression towards any of the children. When I would sit on the bench holding my daughter she would try to climb in my lap as well, but she never tried to harm my daughter or push her out of the way. She is very hungry for attention and for the love of a family. She would make a wonderful daughter and I am sure she would provide you with a life time of laughter.

This child has significant facial features of FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome).  This is a cautionary disclosure only.  Families should research the varying impacts of this condition.

I really, really hope a family falls in love with her like I have! I got to kiss her and love on her for a little bit. Evan #

Boy: 2015

Diagnosis: Hydrocephalus, optic nerve atrophy

Evan lives in a baby house in Eastern Europe.  His current diagnoses include: Congenital hydrocephalus – VPS. Horizontal nystagmus. Atrophy of the visual nerve. Moderate muscle hypotonia. Mild mental delay. Delay in the neuro-psychological development.

Listed: October 2017

Evan is interested in what is happening around him. He turns his head in the direction of sound. When spoken to, he listens but does not fix his stare or follow bright objects with his eyes. He is attentive when playing with a musical toy or bright object.  He does not imitate actions with objects.

Evan can turn from his back to his belly and vice versa, stand up, and reach for a toy that is attached to his bed or given by an adult. He catches the toy after chaotic movements of his hands while trying to coordinate them. He sometimes can place the toy from one hand in the other by himself but sometimes he needs help from an adult. His left hand is no longer in a fist and there are longer periods of time when his fingers are spread out.

When communicating with an adult, Evan reaches out and touches his/her face and smiles. He is not aggressive but when he wants to be left alone, he will bite his hand.

When provoked, he can imitate syllables but cannot gesture or mimic.  Evan does not react when called by name and does not give a toy when asked.

Evan is entirely dependent on the staff but will reach toward his food when being fed.

More information, pictures and videos are available from his agency!

From a family who met him in June 2014:

This calm little guy came up to me with pleading eyes for attention and is just so polite. God has heard his prayers, and now he is listed for adoption! He is not overbearing or competitive at all. Rather, he is observant and inquisitive. He is about the size of a six year-old and just so gentle. I would take him home in a heartbeat if he was available before. He takes turns riding the red wagon around the orphanage grounds as the bigger boys pull him, and he gestures politely for fresh fruit when he sees it is available. He is kind to other children. He says a few words in his native language, and listened carefully when I was giving descriptions of my family photos. I have confidence that he would do wonderfully in any kind of family, and it is obvious– he can surely reciprocate love! He enjoyed throwing balls, going on walks, playing see-saw, and listening to English descriptions. Whoever adopts this little love will be so blessed to call him a beloved son.

Hydrocephalus, Severe mental delays

Listed: August 2013

She is a very sweet and kind girl and extremely needs a family.  She will be 5 this December, so any new family may commit to her and start preparing a dossier.

She has siblings, but none are available for adoption; 2 older sisters live with birth mother and 1 younger sister has been adopted.

From a family who met her in summer 2013:
She was in my kids’ groupa.  She is the sweetest little thing and needs out of there ASAP!!!  She has the most noble quiet nature about her.  She is mentally delayed but has so much potential.  She was one of the least favored children in the orphanage and she is desperate for love.  On one occasion she wandered over to the play shelter where we were playing and was trying to eat our daughter’s cookie.  We didn’t have any extra (we brought treats for the groupa every three days or so) so my husband just picked her up to distract her and as soon as he did, she threw her arms around his neck and rested her head on his shoulder just soaking in the attention.  I can’t bear the thought of her being transferred!  She already has it bad enough.

Talbert #

 Boy: 2012

Listed 5/2017

Special needs: born to a mother with symptomatic epilepsy acquired following encephalitis, who was on anti-convulsant therapy and had epileptic seizures while pregnant.
Talbert was diagnosed with: Mixed specific disorders of the psychological development. Expressive speech disorder. Mild mental delay, with no or minimal disturbance of behavior. Bronchial asthma. Single febrile seizure (at the age of 3 years)

Talbert is radiant, playful and energetic boy. He likes to play with toy cars and soap bubbles. He has formed a preferred relationship with his foster mother. He does not demonstrate aggression or self-aggression.

Talbert makes progress over time, albeit slowly – the emotions he expresses and his playing are becoming more diverse over time;  his vocabulary has enriched and he can now tries to connect several words in simple sentences so he has progressed in the area of speech as well. It is expected that once Talbert gets provided with more regular and intensive sessions with a psychologist and a speech therapist, he would progress much further. Talbert has the capacity to develop further when placed in his forever family environment and given the chance to explore his surroundings and try new things more freely.

Video available.

Because we only have this child’s file for a short time, he will not be able to receive donations until a family is found for him.

From a family who met her in February 2017:  ” She is what would be considered “low functioning”. I would describe her as autistic, although autism is not listed in her chart. She is currently fed via tube inserted into her mouth to her stomach. She was sick with a flu type virus and sent to the hospital. Prior to that visit she was eating regularly by mouth. After a week at hospital being fed by tube she has had difficulties swallowing. She is small. The size of a thin two year old. She does gently reach for your hand and make some eye contact and interaction. She has VERY low tone and does not sit up on her own. She is gentle. She does not yell or cry according to nannies, she is gentle with other children and mainly keeps to herself. Playing with her hands.”

From a missionary who met her in December 2016:  “Strabismus. Low tone. Very cuddly and mushy! Can stand with some support. I showed them some therapy positions and exercises for them to do to get her to weight bear on her feet and I can tell that they have been doing it. Her nose and eyes were excessively yucky and I suspected that her hearing was impaired from fluid. I discussed it with her doctors and they were going to follow up on it. She makes sounds, no language. ‘Lower functioning’ (but I hate to say that). The orphanage workers love her and I think that is a problem in that they carry her about. She is in a baby house with typical peers. I believe with some medical attention and therapy she is capable of progressing.”
