At-risk of Aging Out

These teenagers need to be adopted before their next birthday, or they will no longer be available for international adoption. In some cases, the paperwork needs to be filed for immigration before their birthday — and in some cases the adoption needs to be finalized.

Please inquire if you believe you could work quickly to complete an adoption and save one of these older children and give them the family every child deserves.

Twyla needs to be adopted PRIOR to her birthday in October!

Photo available for interested families.

Twyla is a spirited 13 year-old girl who is chatty and sociable. She is very adaptable and adjusts well to changes. Twyla enjoys playing on the computer, reading novels and doing handicraft work. She is now learning to do cross-stitch.

Twyla is intelligent and bright and recently completed her primary school education. She will start junior high school in September 2013. Twyla has an inclination towards learning languages but also enjoys mathematics. Twyla’s dream is to enter college.

Twyla was in foster care from 2004 and stayed with a wonderful foster family. Her foster family provided her with very good support and care during her growing years. However due to her foster mother’s deteriorating heart condition, the family is no longer able to provide full-time foster care and Twyla was returned to the institution recently. The family still maintains weekend contact with Twyla and continues to help her in her adjustment.

Twyla has expressed that she would really like to have a family of her own that is permanent, she would like to be adopted and can be provided with good preparation for adoption.

Johnny Wynn

Johnny WYnnBoy, born October 2000
PRC
Blood disorder

Johnny Wynn ages out in October 2014. From his 2010 file he is described as “a handsome boy with a round face, fair skin, a pair of bright eyes who is very cute, active, bright and polite to people and is a child loved by anyone who meets him.” He also loves sports of all kinds and has a natural talent for most sports activities.

From his counselor at a summer camp last year- Johnny Wynn is a one of a kind kid who completely captured my heart. Throughout the week at camp it was clear that under his quiet demeanor and brave smile is a precious boy who has waited with hope far too long for a family to take him home.I was impressed by his gentle compassionate nature as he looked out for the younger kids. Johnny Wynn also interacted and bonded well with our family group. He is a thoughtful, respectful and very kind 12 year old. When it was time to go back to the orphanage at the end of the week, Johnny Wynn was so sad. As he got on the bus he did his best to stare at the ground and not cry. My heart breaks for Johnny Wynn, please join me in praying a family will come soon for him before he ages out. He needs a family to love and cheer for him.”

Emil

emil2014Born December 1999emil
Diagnosis: cerebral palsy and down syndrome

From someone who met him in 2012:  Emil was the gentlest child ever! Unable to talk but the pleading in his eyes killed me! He grabbed my finger and wouldn’t let go…what a grip! He also got really hit a few times by others wanting my attention, he didn’t retaliate but fell in a heap and moved away, only to return when the coast was clear. I would love to see this child in a nurturing environment!

Emil is able to walk.

Collier

Boy, born October 1999

Down syndrome, significant mental delays

This handsome young man has waited a long time for a family of his own!

Update March 2014:  Collier- he breaks my heart. He’s also in a room with many older, more active and larger boys that are busy moving around, and so he retreats to a small area in the corner of the room, sitting on the floor in between two beds, and just watches everyone. He’s TINY- think toddler/preschooler size, definitely not like a 14 or 15 year old. He’s just a baby in so many ways. I cannot believe that in a year or so, he’ll be too old to be adopted- it just does not seem fair that a virtual preschooler would spend the rest of his life like this. he seemed very quiet, watching everything but never getting up to come over, even though we were handing out cookies and candy and juice.

Update June 2013:
Collier is a sweet little guy who just wants to be loved. He looks like he’s about 2 or 3, despite being almost 14 years old. He always keeps trying to find food, and is somewhat of a bottomless pit – I fed him lunch and a candy bar and he was still trying to take food from the other children. He attaches to you very quickly. He would not let go of me when I was in the room and was always trying to go outside on walks. When I picked him up, he would always giggle and smile. Collier would be a most precious son.
