Eli’s Wish For Drake
My name is Eli Schwartz. My family and I live in Maryland. On September 21, I will celebrate becoming a Bar Mitzvah in the tradition of my family’s Jewish faith. For my Mitzvah project, I chose the following passage from the Pirke Avot: Chapter 1, Paragraph 3:
“Don’t be like those who would serve a master on the condition that they would receive a reward.
Rather, be like those who would serve without that condition. Even so, let the fear of Heaven be upon you.”
When I learned that our friends, the Roberts’, founded this organization, I wanted to learn more. Reece’s Rainbow is an
all-faiths adoption grant foundation that raises money to help families adopt kids with Down syndrome and other special needs. It makes me sad to see so many children without a mom and dad of their own. It hurts me that their parents abandon them just because they are born “different”. I am still learning about Down syndrome, but it gives me hope to know that so many adoptive families actually choose these children. They don’t have to be hidden away in shame. I am thankful to know Reece. I am glad he has a family who loves him and helps him grow. Reece’s mom works hard to make sure every child with Down syndrome can have a family of their own. In only 7 years, more than 1200+ orphans with Down syndrome and other special needs have found “forever families” with help from Reece’s Rainbow!
Even if you’re only 13, you can make a difference in the lives of other kids like Reece. Please help me celebrate this important milestone in my life by making a donation for an orphan with Down syndrome. Drake is a 3 year old boy who is waiting in an orphanage in Eastern Europe. He has some other medical problems too. His mother left him in the hospital after he was born. No one visits him. Drake deserves a happy, healthy life!
It costs a LOT of money for a family to prepare paperwork and travel abroad to bring Drake home to America. When you make a donation for Drake for my Bar Mitzvah, 100% of your donation will be held for HIS adoption. You will get to watch when a family commits to bring him home. You can follow their blog and be a part of this life journey for Drake. And you will get to see how he grows in a loving family of his own. MAYBE one of my own friends or family will choose to adopt Drake! That would be amazing!
Thank you for helping me to change Drake’s future. It feels good to serve with no expectation of reward in return! I can’t wait for Drake to find a family of his own!
