Patrick 2S

patrick-jan14Boy, Born October 11, 2003

Patrick is a sweet and able boy who is diagnosed with CP.  He does have significant facial features of FAS, although this is not documented in his medical records.  Patrick is able to walk and play on his own, and is very high functioning.

From our coordinator:  Patrick is a smart, inquisitive, very friendly and kind boy. His dream is to have a family and loving parents.  He knows he is facing a transfer to an institution for disabled children of older age, where he will not have a chance to develop his potential.   The orphanage staff advocates for these two children with all their hearts.

From a family who met him in July 2011:   He has strabismus and cerebral palsy. But, as you know, cerebral palsy is a spectrum disorder. He can walk, talk, and play just fine. When he walked, there was a slight halting to each step, but it did not slow him down one bit!! When he came up to us, he looked in my bag and saw “Chutes and Ladders.” He kept pulling at it, and then he opened the game board and let out a squeal of delight. Then he went in my bag to find the pieces. I could tell he really wanted to play the board game, but we were in the hallway and there was no room, so I pulled out the box of playdoh. He managed to pull out one of the containers and open it himself (which is difficult for an adult to do!) I showed him how to work the playdoh, and he was so happy. He was able to play and shape playdoh just fine. He was so creative with the playdoh. I helped him make a duck from the stencil and then he pretended it was swimming through the air. He was telling a whole story about this pink duck in his language. I gave (our daughter) the camera, and they kept taking pictures of each other. He kept making funny faces for most of the pictures. When he was done playing with one thing, he carefully put it back where it came from. When it was time to go, he just said “bye-bye” and left. No fits or anything. Such a happy boy. He might not be the most active child, but I am confident he would be a great child for any family.

Patrick’s grant of $20.00 has been gifted to Devon.
***This child is in a country that is currently not accepting new commitments. We can no longer accept grant donations or inquiries for this child, but we have not given up on any of these children and encourage all of our Prayer Warriors to continue their efforts! When and if this country program re-opens for adoptions, we will relist this child and begin seeking an adoptive family immediately.***
