SIMON for the Blake family — NC
Wes and Karen Blake will have been married seven years come August 2013. She has been a school teacher for 13 years while he is currently studying to be a Paramedic. They have been happily and lovingly caring for their four animals over the years, hoping that one day they would have a baby. Adoption had been something that they had discussed almost right from the start, but they never quite seemed at peace with the process. As the years passed, with no successful pregnancies and still not quite ready to move forward with adoption, they lived a quiet, peaceful life together. Until one Saturday morning while breathing heavy on a cardio machine next to her friend at the Y, Karen was told about Simon. He was a 15-year-old boy in Eastern Europe who desperately needed a home. Throughout the day, thoughts of Simon struck her randomly. When Karen finally told Wes about Simon, he was quiet for a moment before saying, “When can we go get him? Can I take him fishing? We definitely have a home for him.” Suddenly the adoption process was something they were ready to begin. It seemed overwhelming but they wanted to bring Simon home and be his parents. It is their hope that Simon will be their first adoption and that they would soon make him a big brother. They know many challenges lie ahead, but they know Simon will be an amazing son. Wes and Karen have faith and trust in the Lord and know that all of this is in His hands.
