MICAH and IVY for the Forbes family — PA

High school sweethearts, Cliff and Erin Forbes have been married for almost 15 years. Erin felt drawn to adoption even as a young child and somehow she knew that adoption would be in her future. She let Cliff know this when they were still dating in high school so that he wouldn’t be surprised later on! Shortly after getting married, and while still completing college, Erin was drawn to international adoption and began researching. She quickly realized that not only were they too young but they hadn’t been married long enough, and weren’t financially stable enough either. So, international adoption was put on the back-burner for many years but orphan care has always been tugging at their hearts. Throughout the years of welcoming biological children to their family, the desire to adopt never waned. Cliff and Erin have been involved in orphan care through being on their local statewide adoption list, but because of the push for kinship care in their state they never received a placement. They also pursued a private adoption in which the birth mother decided to parent her baby, and they have also been involved in the foster care system for the past four years. Cliff is a pastor and Erin recently left her teaching career to be at home full-time with their four children–Olivia (9), Sawyer (7), Collin (4), and Makena (1 1/2). Recently, they have decided to investigate the possibility of international adoption yet again. This time, the investigation took a different turn as they became aware of the plight of special needs orphans around the world. Cliff and Erin begin to considering what it would be like to parent a special needs child. Erin became acquainted with Reece’s Rainbow’s ministry and began to talk to Cliff about the possibilities, and it was there that they “met” Micah. Although this is new territory for them as a couple and as a family, both Cliff and Erin are excited to see all that God has in store for their family!
