HANNAH for the Carr family — MA
Mac and Britney met on a summer college trip to China. After 19 hours sitting next to one another on a plane, they were friends and their friendship grew until 10 years later they were married. They returned to China, with their daughter Aila (2) and continued to teach, learn and serve among some of the world’s most beautiful people, but wondered about their part in ‘caring for the orphans’.
One day as they were looking at the children on Reece’s Rainbow (something they had done since their daughter was born) there was this little face that jumped out to both of them. They shared this with one another and were amazed that it had happened to both of them separately and thought, ‘We can at least inquire about her… ‘. So they did and what seemed impossible to them (adopting while living abroad), they then learned was possible, as are all things with God!
So they are now in the process of adoption! They are gathering documents, and with the help of family back in the US, receiving packages for clearances in the mail, sending documents back overseas, visiting with US consulates to get notaries, and all the while growing in such a deep love for this little one that they hope will be joining their family someday soon. Although the process seems daunting at times with the extra steps of living abroad, they have been so blessed with the gentle direction of their social workers and the great support and love of their families and friends both back in the United States and in China.
Thank you for reading part of their story, for praying for their family and ‘Hannah’ as they work to bring her home and for sharing their story with others. And for those who are able, thank you for donating to their adoption costs. They are so humbled and honored to become a part of this little one’s life, and can not wait to welcome her intotheir family!
