COPELAND for the Buhman family — OR

21026212908Darrell and Haley were married in 2007. After a short period of infertility, they welcomed their delightful daughter Helene in June, 2012. They knew right away they wanted more children and as soon as possible. They did not anticipate what the Lord had planned.

A friend of Haley’s family adopted a little girl from Bulgaria in November, 2012. She was almost four years old and weighed only ten pounds. Haley’s heart was broken for the orphans in that moment. Naturally it took her husband Darrell a little longer to be convinced, as Haley is the “gas pedal” and Darrell is the “brake”, but he could see the Lord working.

Things were happening all around them that couldn’t be explained except for that it was God telling them what He wanted. Not just to advocate and donate, but to open their home and become a mom and dad to one of the children on Reece’s Rainbow.

When Haley first saw Copeland’s photo, she was struck immediately by how much he looked like their daughter Helene. She wasn’t able to stop thinking about him and praying for God to tell her if Copeland was the little one for them.

Darrell and Haley continue to let God lead the way for them and pray that others will see that ordinary families can pursue adoption.
