FIONA for Kent and Christine — UT

Kent and Christine’s story begins with a boy meeting a girl in college, and boy and girl becoming best friends. Being best friends led to marriage in 1989, and 23 years later they are STILL best friends, with a family of 8 beautiful children – six biological children, ages 10-22, and two son-in-laws – adopted by their daughters
Their youngest son, Brady, came with the little something extra that is Down Syndrome, and has blessed their lives in ways they could never have imagined.
Since Brady’s birth, Christine and Kent have been avid advocates for children with Down Syndrome. They never imagined the Lord would lead them on the path to adoption. About a year ago, however, Christine felt strongly prompted by the spirit to bring the subject up to Kent. She had found a beautiful little girl on Reece’s Rainbow that she felt was meant to come to their family. Kent prayed and pondered, and although at that time the answers to their prayers were different, the Lord soon set their feet upon the path that has now led them to Fiona.
Christine and Kent have been humbled by the love that the Lord feels for all His children. For Him to take the time to prompt two parents a world away to find one tiny little girl given up at birth, simply because she comes with a little something extra, reaffirms to them that He knows each of His children personally and loves them all. They are excited, thrilled, happy, but most of all BLESSED to have the opportunity to bring Fiona home to a place where she will be loved, accepted, valued, and cherished.
As Down Syndrome advocates, Kent and Christine are hopeful that Fiona’s adoption will also help lead to an even greater good. Fiona is the youngest child with Down Syndrome to be listed for adoption from her country. They know how important it is for every child to have a family, and what a difference early intervention can make for children with Down Syndrome. It is their hope that with Fiona’s adoption, more children with DS will be able to be listed at younger ages and find their forever families.
Kent and Christine invite you to share in their joy and journey in any way possible – through prayer, donations, love, and encouragement as they work hard and trust in the Lord to help them bring Fiona home to her forever family!
