CAROLINA for the Buhler family — OH

Ammon and Michelle met while they were both serving on active duty in the Army. It was a whirlwind courtship and they were married after only 4 months. Most people believed their marriage would be a casualty of military life, but nearly twelve years later, they have proven that assumption wrong. Within a month of marriage, Michelle became pregnant with their first child, who arrived at the end of 2001. In late 2002, they left the Army and moved to Ammon’s hometown in Idaho and later moved to Ohio. Babies #2 and #3 were not as easy to conceive and it was during this time that Michelle first discovered international adoption and Reece’s Rainbow. Adoption is very close to their hearts. Michelle is paternally adopted and Ammon’s family adopted his best friend and made him a brother during their teen years. When Michelle presented Ammon with the idea of adopting themselves one day, Ammon was immediately on board. They thought it was something they would pursue “someday” but weren’t sure when. Every year, Michelle would spend hours looking at kids on Angel Tree, donate what she could afford, and show Ammon about 20 different kids that would be “perfect” for them. On Christmas of 2009, they got the most unexpected gift ever….a positive pregnancy test. Baby #4 arrrived in late 2010. After 4 children, Ammon and Michelle felt they were “done.” But God stirred Michelle’s heart and she felt they were not quite done. It was then that Ammon suggested they look at adoption again, and Michelle’s Facebook feed started to fill up with posts being shared by Reece’s Rainbow advocates and friends. This time, Michelle felt the need to begin advocating for these precious children through her blog and Facebook accounts. At the same time, a family who had adopted through RR moved into their church. All the questions she had were answered. It didn’t take long before Michelle felt they should adopt one of these precious children….but how to choose just one? Ammon was very supportive and felt any (or all) of the children they were considering would be a great blessing. So, after much prayer, they finally narrowed the list to three, then two, then one. From here on out, they are taking each step on faith, relying on God to get them through.
