GIANNA for the Nuckolls — TX

nuckolls-giannaJon and Michele’s story is very much a 21st century story. Having just entered the dating waters again after a moratorium due to the ending of a long term relationship Jon decided that it was necessary to date a godly woman with similar interests in urban missions, simple living, and a heart for orphans and widows. And where better to find such a specific match? Eharmony of course! Michele, on the other hand, had been off and on eharmony for over a year and was ready to give that method up when she was encouraged by her friends to stay the course. Boy, was Jon ever glad she did! She was the first woman he went on a date with and knew immediately that she was his perfect match (though he couldn’t tell her that for several months in fear of scaring her away). Within three months the romance blossomed into full blown love and Jon proposed to Michele at a Houston Pregnancy Help Center fund-raiser by singing a song that he had written for her. They were married in a whirlwind three months later and Michele moved to Southeast Texas where Jon currently works.

Through much prayer the couple decided to sell their home in the suburbs and move to a much more diverse area in Port Arthur to learn from and be changed by the many peoples and cultures. Soon they began praying about children and considered adoption immediately but believed it was best to be married a while. Within a few months Michele found out she was pregnant and soon they became the blessed parents of a beautiful little boy named Hudson Taylor. Adoption continued to weigh on their hearts and after coming into community with a local church filled with former orphans (some families with as many as five) they knew it was time to begin praying again. Having learned about Reece’s Rainbow from several families in the church Jon and Michele began discussing God’s heart for these children and soon their hearts were knit together with a common purpose, to pour out their love on these children and invite them into their family. After several months of petitioning and listening and learning from many people they knew it was time to pursue adoption through Reece’s Rainbow. So with great joy, anticipation, and hope they jump into this wild adventure with cool heads and hot hearts. Our hope is that all people will see the glory of God through adoption, especially the children of Reece’s Rainbow.
