Boy, born May 1998
Mild to moderate mental delays
Nick is currently in the US in a summer hosting program in NC; a potential family could gain a LOT of information! He’s in the US until the end of July 2013.
Nick has some delays, and speaks slowly, and was attending school at one point. His delays may be greater after life in an institutional setting. He would likely thrive in a family!
He is running out of time to be adopted — a family MUST file paperwork for his adoption prior to his 16th birthday.
Occasionally, he has problems with short term memory. He will enter 9th grade in the Fall but is a couple years behind in math and reading skills. Part of this is due to his delays and part is due to being in an institution. He has a younger sister who has been adopted to the US. Nick had the opportunity to participate in a hosting program in the US this summer.
From his host family:
“Nick is fairly shy when you first meet him. It takes him a few days to open up. He is tall and slender, smiles a lot, and is very polite and helpful. He does what he is told and is also is very affectionate. During his stay with us, he offered lots of hugs. We took him on a few road trips, and he traveled very well. In fact, he really enjoyed traveling. He loves swimming and all sports, especially soccer. We were able to take him to a professional baseball game. He paid attention during the game, clapped for good plays, and cheered for the home team. He enjoyed American food and tried everything that was presented to him. We noticed how gentle and loving he was with our dog and that he played well with our children who are 10 and 12.”
$397.50 is available towards the cost of my adoption!
