PEYTON for the Keyzer family — NE
Jon and Anna met during their final year at the University of Nebraska, while in an English class called “Place Conscious Writing.” They were friends for a couple of years before they finally got moving and started getting serious. They got married in 2008 and started their new life together by picking out a little apartment on the fun side of town and spending a lot of time doing church stuff, playing guitar together, reading, and grilling out on the porch. It was very delightful.
Anna currently works as an office manager at a chiropractic office, and Jon is a youth specialist at a group home for boys. They also live in a Christian community house with other believers, which features lots of sharing meals and possessions, prayer, neighborhood potlucks, and campfires.
In 2010 they welcomed their son Ishmael into their family. He has brought lots of laughter, crazy dancing, random banter, and the occasional two-year old tantrum with him, and has been a real joy so far!
Last year Anna went to Pleven, Bulgaria, with her friend Grace, who was adopting a 7 year-old girl named Sam. Watching Grace’s story unfold was very inspiring. The experience also really opened her eyes to what life in an orphanage is like–to how intensely so many of these children need nourishment and care. Upon her return to the States, she and Jon began discussing the possibility of adoption and began researching the ins and outs of international adoption. Seeing the plight of orphans around the world and hearing their stories on a daily basis really lifted a veil for them regarding how many children have been neglected and left behind, and they felt God calling them to open their home. After a great deal of prayer they have chosen to adopt Peyton, and are very excited to welcome him into their family! They have learned a great deal during the adoption process already and are very eager to meet Peyton and to begin this new stage in life!
