MARCUS for the Lehman family — OH

Adopting a child during mid-life? Jeff and Tracey say, why not? Exhaustion aside, they want to “share the love” and expand their small family. They were married 18 years ago, and adoption was always on the table. After their first son was born, they became respite foster care providers for a short time. When their second son was born with Down syndrome, they decided to focus their energies on their two sons. The following years were busy with therapies, advocating, a little home schooling, and helping to care for Jeff’s parents. This year, Tracey and Jeff found the Reece’s Rainbow site and felt strongly moved by the plight of children with disabilities in other countries. They were drawn to Marcus for various reasons. Although he is considered to be an “older child,” he will still be the youngest child in their family. They can’t wait to get through the paperwork and make their first visit to Bulgaria!
