Macayla (L)

Girl, born January, 2007
Has siblings (one adopted, one not currently available for adoption)
Mixed developmental delays; Suspicions of autism.

Macayla was matched with a family, but they decided not to continue the adoption.

Update July 2012:

Eats, undresses, dresses, takes care of the clothes, button and unbutton clothes, uses the WC, washes hands, face and etc. without help.

Macayla is eager to play musical and active games. More communicates with the children of her age then with adults. Takes care of her toys without help. Sometimes she plays alone with her toys she likes. While communicating with children and adults, she is seeking for more independence and initiative. Started to perform self-control ability, follows the rules, emotions are expressed in a proper manner. Likes to draw, but not always it comes out properly. Still the tremor in her hands is observed. Listens to the fairy tales, learns to sing, read poems, to watch the Children‘s programs on TV. Knows the colors and can name them. Likes to read the books, likes to be an observer. Likes to ask and raise questions about things are not clear for her. Is interested in the surrounding world and examines it. Slowly by slowly the girls is learning the social skills as how to recognize her‘s and the other peoples feelings and to name them, the understanding of the differences and acceptance, ability to share, ability to take the responsibility, to help others to solve the problems. She would give a toy to a younger child, would comfort the crying child and takes him/her by hand.

She has no aggression or tantrums. Just sometimes is stubborn. If she takes away a toy from somebody or she wants something already it is possibly to negotiate with Macayla. She no longer is falling on the floor and does not scream. It is very important that she needs to know what rules, behavioral norms and consequences are going to be in place for her behavioral monitoring. This is what provides Macayla with stability.

Macayla is a sensitive and affectionate little girl. She loves to cuddle and give hugs.  She is shy around new people.
