Gracie #40-5

Gracie #40-5
DOB: 2009
Diagnosis: Down syndrome, hypothyroidism, possible hearing loss

Gracie is 2 years old. She has hypothyroidism, which is controlled with medication. Her medical report indicates that she has difficulty hearing. However, it is very common for children with Down syndrome that are in orphanages to have fluid build up in their ears. Gracie's report does not indicate any type of formal evaluation of her hearing, just observations. It is very possible that with proper treatment, her hearing will be normal. Despite these things, Gracie is developing well. She's making sound combinations such as "ba-ba" in an effort to talk, she responds to praise and cheers when she does something well, she's playing with toys and beginning to take steps independently. She eats from a spoon and drinks from an open cup. The orphanage has already begun to toilet train her too! She is sitting on the toilet in an effort to schedule train her.

The available photo is from when she was a baby. Newer photos will be available soon.
