Gaia was born to term and was in the hospital for the first 6 months of her life before being transferred to the baby house. She weighed 2580 grams, was 47 cm long, head circumference 32 cm, chest 31 cm. All of the children in her group have speech delays due to orphanage life although she understands everything. Gaia also has psychomotor delays and neurological developmental delays (possibly FAS, although this is undocumented). Her caregivers say she is restless although her therapists have no complaints about her. She receives ARV medication Viramune, Zerit and Lamivudine. RNK <500. CD4 1830. CD8 960. In May 2010, her annual physical exam was good. She was healthy, Hepatitis negative, Syphillis negative. She has had colds, chicken pox and ear infections. She has had all of her immunizations. At 2.5 years of age she measured 10 kg 830g, height 85 cm, head 47.5, chest 50. Her physical development is good. Gaia smiles often and laughs easily. She easily expresses her emotions, whether joy or upset. Additional photos and video footage available.
Gaia has been transferred to the older children’s orphanage. It’s a very good place; the caretakers seem very caring. Gaia is full of life!
Gaia’s grant of $202.00 has been gifted to Alicia.
